Awake

Celine's pov

A shimmer of light passed through the room, and I slowly opened my eyes. The scent of disinfectant and medication filled the air, making me feel nauseous. As I scanned the room, realization struck me I was in a hospital. The sterile white sheets and the stand next to me confirmed it.

"Ahh," I groaned, my head throbbing and my body feeling weak. I couldn't recall how I ended up here. The last thing I remembered was sobbing in my room, and then... nothing. Darkness. So, how did I end up here? I groaned, pressing my slender fingers against my head as sharp pain spread through it.

Still lost in thought, I suddenly noticed Evelyn entering the room. I let out a sigh of relief and watched as she approached, her gaze filled with concern.

"You're awake!" she exclaimed, then sat beside the bed, her mood heavy with worry.

"What happened? How did I end up here?" I asked, but then a surge of fear washed over me, and I quickly added, "How's my baby? Is he alright?" My hands dropp

Shocking revelation Celine's pov I swiftly got out of bed in an attempt to charge and power on the phone. I couldn't shake off the urgency I felt; I knew I needed to read the text to satisfy my curiosity and ease my wondering heart. It turned on moments later, and I quickly swiped it open to reveal its content. “Hooked up in activities, will relate to you soon.” “Just that” I snapped. Those lines were too curt and devoid of emotion, which only left me deep in thought. “He could be tense with work-related issues,” I whispered to myself, giving excuses for him. The night seemed longer than usual. I tossed on the bed, tightening my grip on the bed cover, shoving the pillow back and forth in frustration. Soon, I drifted off to sleep. I woke up the next morning with my head throbbing, and a wave of nausea surged through me. “This illness,” I cursed. It's been like this since I became pregnant; the morning nausea was something my body had grown used to by now, and it lingered

INTERVIEW “What is the issue, Celine? Why was your voice in disarray?” Evelyn's concerned voice surged. “I couldn't shake off the urgency I felt, so I had to skip work just to come over.” Her gaze narrowed at my broken body.I held her wrist and sobbed even more. “How could life be this cruel to me? Why am I always the tool? Why do they always break my heart, leaving it in shambles after planting love in it?” I yelled in frustration, gripping her hand tightly.“Calm down, Celine, whatever the case may be,” she expressed, tapping my shoulders and tucking my hair behind my ears. She lifted her hands toward my face, cupping it. “Celine, calm down,” she repeated, her gaze locked on mine. She leaned forward into an embrace, tapping my back with one hand and stroking my hair with the other.I managed to calm down after moments of outburst and hurt. Evelyn helped me off the floor, and I sat on the bed. She scanned my expression in bewilderment; I could sense the worry in her heart.“Can you

Uncertainty Harry's POV Why can't I figure out where this mixed feeling is seething from? A feeling of uncertainty—ridiculous. All my time in this group has led them through countless dealings, each proving productive with our prey either subjected or taken off the surface of the earth. Why, then, is there an exception in my heart about this particular mission? I paced back and forth in my office, deep in contemplation, wringing my hands and reaching for pointless admiration. My heart wandered like a wounded lion. My lips wobbled, and my gaze was fixed on the desk. I spotted a file unattended, flipping it open and scanning through its contents. My brows furrowed with every passing minute. “Why is this still on the desk when I distinctly recall telling Mag to take up the deal.” I thought. I couldn't hold back, my face contorted in fury. I reached for the telecom and dialed in a jiffy. "Come see me now." "Sir," her voice surged a few seconds later. I raised my brows and scow

Futile execution Harry’s pov He lost track of the road but swiftly directed the steering, almost landing on the side track where there was a barricade. I noticed his hands trembling, but his eyes were fixed on the road. "Who could be tracking us?" I asked, almost subconsciously, my gaze fixed on the rearview mirror. I could barely see through, but I observed it was a black limousine. The car sped up even more, and every passing minute felt like hell, a mixed feeling of uncertainty spreading across my spine. Never had I been in such a situation before. Everything always worked as planned, but this time, it was different. Soon, the car halted, and I narrowed my eyes at Louis, curiosity in my tone. "Why the stop?" My gaze was fixed on his reflection in the rearview mirror. "Boss, I lost track of the car," he uttered under his breath. I gasped, letting out a sigh of relief. What was uncertain was who the heck was tracking us. A flicker of annoyance crossed my face when my t

Why Harry!Celine's POVHe remained silent, nodding his head and repeatedly glaring at the file before him. I couldn't figure out what was going through his mind; his expression was unreadable. The air in the room suddenly became tense despite the air conditioning, and I became uncomfortable almost instantly.I had prayed and longed for this job, but as the pressure mounted, the urge to excuse myself and catch my breath surged. I needed fresh air, away from his annoying and stern presence. Just as I was about to say something, he raised his brows, and our gazes locked. I suspected he must have sensed my sudden change in expression. I subconsciously looked down, avoiding his arrogant, domineering, piercing grey eyes.I sensed he was scrutinizing my expression because I could see him in my peripheral view."Most times, I marvel at the class of people who randomly choose names," he said, his words laced with fury and disgust. I couldn't comprehend his sentence—random names? I couldn’t st

The CEOCeline’s povI tried hiding away so he wouldn't see my bulge, but it was already too late. The purse in my hands dropped when my gaze locked with his. The intimacy they shared was evident. My lips parted in disbelief, and I wished the earth would open up so I could hide my face. She was practically the reason Harry divorced me, I thought to myself. How could I have forgotten the face of that woman I despised so much just a few months ago? The one reason my life was left in shambles, forcing me to start all over again. At that moment, I felt the hurt all over again. Pain and bitterness surged in my heart. This was the second time I had seen Harry since our divorce. The first time was at the suite when he confronted Jack, and now at the mall with her, his arms wrapped around her waist.I felt a stab in my chest as I watched them approach. At first, a frown creased his face upon meeting my gaze, a look of disgust on his features as his eyes fixed on my bulge, but the frown quickl

The ringCeline’s pov"The ring with a tiger statue?" I snapped out almost quickly. It resembled one I had seen in the past. The boss wore that exact ring on his slender finger, and it caught me off guard. That ring had a significant similarity to one I couldn't quite place. My thoughts raced.I leaned forward to get a closer look at the ring, to ascertain my suspicion, but this time my effort proved futile. He had his hands buried, making it impossible to get a glance. His expression remained stern, hidden behind the tinted black glasses that covered almost half of his face."Ahh, what a personality!" I sighed in frustration after fruitless attempts to take a second glance at the ring. My thoughts clouded, and my heart pounded.A few minutes later, the director came out and signaled i take the files back to the office. I waited a bit to get the precise instruction, and when it was clear, a feeling of excitement crept into my heart. I let out a sigh of relief, jolting out of the hall

Pressure Harry's POVIt was just a day until Derick's birthday, and I was determined to make it memorable for him. After that day at the hospital, my love for my family grew, and I promised myself to always put them first, spending quality time with them whenever possible. I couldn't bear the thought of losing my son and beloved wife. When Louis drove back to the hospital, my heart halted momentarily. It dawned on me that I might not survive a single day if anything happened to my family.Whoever was after me might also be after my family, and I had to ensure their safety. I employed more security in the mansion to protect them when I was out of the house. As for Jack, I was determined to put him in his rightful place, but first, I had to ensure no harm came to my family. They weren't meant to be dragged into my mess and dealings. It was my battle to fight, not theirs. But the saying that "when two elephants fight, the grass suffers" surged in my heart. I refused to let that be true

I want to get my favorite candy,” Henry said, pointing toward the store on the left side of the street.“Alright, anything for you, son,” I replied, and he grinned, biting his hand playfully.“Thank you, Dad!” he cheered. The expectedA grin spread across his face as he held my hands, planting a loving kiss on them before crouching low on his knees. My heart soared once more, and this time, I was determined to give this tireless man a "yes" for his relentless efforts to win me over.“Please, my lady, will you be mine again?” he asked, his hands dipping into his pant pockets to retrieve the ring. To my amazement, his gaze remained fixed on mine.“Please, girl, forgive him and accept him back; for my sake and Henry's,” Evelyn's voice surged from behind almost immediately, and I winced.“Yes, he deserves one more chance,” Aaron added.I stayed still, determined in my thoughts, my face adorned with a grin. Finally, I whimpered,“Yes, I’ll give you another chance, to be yours again.”With a relieved smile, he hastily slid the ring onto my finger and rose to his feet.“Thank you. I promise I’ll never hurt you again,” he said, his eyes widening with sincerity.“Are you sure?” I asked, my voice trembling sligh

Sorrowful momentWithout hesitation, I tapped to receive the call, my head lowered and my heart racing. By now, the applause had stopped, but Harry still remained kneeling with the ring in his hands, his face showing a mix of disappointment and uncertainty.“Hel…” I started, but his voice cut me off almost immediately.“Please, you need to come. The report is bad, and Evelyn needs you,” he asserted, and my heart sank.“Okay, I’ll be right there,” I responded. The call ended almost immediately from his end. I hurriedly lowered the phone from my ear, casting a sorry gaze at Harry.“Please, I need to leave. It’s about Evelyn,” I announced. Without glancing around at the murmurs that arose once more, I hastily addressed the team, then stormed to the car and drove off almost immediately to the hospital.Once at the hospital, I hurriedly made my way through the lobby and down the hallway leading to the maternity section. My heart couldn’t stop wondering how I got here; a pathway filled with endless struggles and challenges. A path where evil loomed, but amidst the overwhelming obstacles and chaos, I succeeded, alongside the great team that stood firm with me. It felt like a dry bone coming back to life. The roaring applause of the crowd and the overwhelming feeling of having everything under control struck me with a sense of fulfillment—the kind that comes when one keeps a promise. That, I had lived to remember for seven years, ever since Dad was buried."I wish I could see him again and tell him everything is now fine and under control," I whispered in my heart, never stopping to wander through the familiar thoughts crowding my mind. The media buzzed around the hall, fixing and focusing their cameras on me. The grin on my face widened as a surge of joy erupted through me. As I climbed the pa

Is your madam at home?""Not really. She stepped out a few minutes ago. I thought you might have driven past her on your way here.""Not at all," I replied, feeling a pang of devastation. My eyes fell on the drink I held in my hands, and all the carefully rehearsed words I had practiced in the car suddenly felt meaningless."Can I leave this for her?""Not at all, sir. I think you should give it to her yourself; it would be much better," he replied. I sighed and turned to leave, my feet dragging sluggishly against the ground.Just then, a voice called out from behind."What are you doing here? I thought I told you last time not to come near us! Why are you still bent on bringing us more trouble?"I turned to meet his angry gaze. His words were far too harsh for a child his age, but I couldn't shake off the feeling that

Bad OccurrenceHarry's POVIt's been a heck of an experience for me. The shock and the stigma felt increasingly heavy, almost suffocating the life out of me. I still felt as though the chains of the forbidden were caging me, weighing me down like an unbearable burden.“Boss, you need to do something before everything escalates beyond what we can handle,” Louis, who had come over, suggested with a concerned expression.I sat still, lost in thought, struggling to figure out what to do. It was fortunate that the news hadn’t picked up on this yet, but I needed Celine's help to navigate through this mess before it did. Otherwise, it would tarnish the company’s reputation irreparably. This disaster, which I had been grappling with for the past twenty-four hours, left me filled with regret. I doubted it would ever leave my mind; not now, not ever. Mom’s face still appeared before me repeatedly. The moments when she smiled, the happy times we shared; all of them taunted my heart relentlessly.

The Unforseen I held her hands in pain as the other corps members rushed toward us. My gaze became blurry from the tears that clouded my eyes.“Ma'am, step aside,” the officer instructed, but I remained unmoved. I couldn't let go of her hands. Watching her lying motionless pricked a deep part of my heart, and I didn’t even notice if the guy was caught or not. Everything else felt irrelevant at that moment. He leaned in, turning her over slowly and placing his ear on her chest.“I think she’s still alive,” he muttered, and a sudden wave of relief washed over me.Soon, she was wheeled into the ambulance, and I followed suit. Once at the hospital, she was rushed into the emergency room while I waited impatiently in the waiting area, praying earnestly that nothing would happen to her.I stood there, lost in my thoughts of grief and anguish, when a hand rested on my shoulder, jolting me almost immediately. I turned to find Alloy standing close by.“Ma'am, I think you should calm down. She

Moment of AgonyOnce freed, I ran as fast as I could while they pursued me. I knew the risk was higher now, but it was the least of my concerns at that moment. My heartbeat raced as I stumbled upon a door. Hurriedly, I opened it, only to find myself at the back of the suite where the cops were stationed. Just as one of the men chasing me fired a shot, the bullet struck the doorframe, creating a sharp cracking sound as I scrambled to the other side.“Drop your weapons!” the police announced. Oblivious to the ambush, the men chasing me ran straight into police custody. I heaved a sigh of relief, clutching my chest in an attempt to ease the tension building within me.“Damn, that was a freaky risk,” I muttered under my breath. I had no idea I could run as fast or as boldly as I just had. Once settled, I glanced around, only to realize something was amiss. I distinctly remembered hearing the leader give orders as I fled. He had been following me, but now he was nowhere to be seen. Somethi

A Turn for The WorstMy heart raced drastically as I lifted my head to meet his gaze. Did he already sense that I had my eyes fixed on the dark-haired guy, apparently the leader who had just walked in? I thought to myself, but then the realization hit me hard: What if he’s part of the gang? I mean, judging from his appearance.I felt my stomach churn as I finally mustered the courage to reply.“What are you doing here?” I inquired, trying to mask my unease, which was clearly written on my features. He smirked. “Looking out for you,” he replied. I felt a little relieved and then a surge of anger.“Why can't you mind your business?” I asserted.“I can't mind my business while you’re still sitting here. Besides, I kept wondering why your supposed partner is taking so long to appear. Or were you just playing a fast one on me?” he questioned, smiling sheepishly.I tried so hard to hold back my anger, which was seething beneath the surface.
