{Peter's Pov}

Ever since I set my eyes on her, I just couldn't look away. She is beautiful, undoubtedly the most curviest and sexiest woman I've ever seen.

I shoved my hand into my hair, brushing it back as I sank into the chair, swirling the glass of wine in my hand slowly. The way her golden-brown eyes pierced into mine when I took her hand and kissed it softly, God, I wish I could do more.

I wish I were the one standing next to her instead of Nathan. I'm sure he doesn't have much time for her anyway.

I took a sip of my drink, the coldness of the liquor doing little to cool the heat of emotions churning within me.

But the feeling faded as Rachel approached me, her face laced with guilt as she sank into the seat opposite me.

“All I did was tell her what I thought, and she attacked me like I’d said something terrible,” she hissed, almost to herself, as she sat down, dragging me out of my thoughts.

I leaned back in my chair, setting the glass on the table. “What’s the problem, honey?”

    {Nathan's Pov}“Is something bothering you?” I asked, glancing toward Martha’s direction before focusing back on the road. She seemed lost in thought, and I couldn’t figure out why.At first, she was happy to go to dinner with me, but later, she seemed like she wanted to leave badly. Did someone offend her?She looked my way and smiled. “No, just got a little carried away.”Her response didn’t sit right with me. “Tell me, is it Rachel? Did she say something to you?” I tried to think of the possible reasons why she seemed moody, recalling her earlier complaint about not liking the vibe Rachel was giving her.She shook her head. “Nope, she didn’t. Please stop worrying about me. I’m fine. I just got a little overwhelmed by the dance, I guess.”I looked at her again, locking eyes with her briefly before turning my attention back to the road. Well, I intended to wipe that mood away with the surprise I’d been preparing for days.I pulled into the driveway and got out of the car, walking ove

    {Martha's POV}“You deserve it, Martha,” Mrs. Evans said as we pulled away from the hug.I still couldn’t believe it, everything felt like a dream. “Thank you so much, Mrs. Evans. How can I ever repay you?”Mrs. Evans smiled as she gently took my hands, pulling me toward the couch. We both sat down. She squeezed my hands softly and reached over to tuck a loose strand of my hair behind my ear.“You don’t have to repay me, honey. You’ve given me something far more precious,” she said calmly. “By staying here with my son, you’ve given me something I’ve been longing for, a day when he would finally find a girl who loves him genuinely.”I blushed at Mrs. Evans’ words, but she was right. Ever since I met Nathan, I’d never experienced heartbreak. He always put me first before himself, even though I've asked him several times not to. “No, ma’am. It’s you and your son I should be thanking. You’ve been there for me, even when I was a stranger.”She chuckled at my words. “I like your energy, Mar

    {Martha's POV}I shifted on the bed, turning to face Nathan as he slept. I couldn’t deny how handsome he looked, even while sleeping. The fact that he had chosen to sleep in my room instead of his made my heart swell with warmth.“I can’t leave you here all alone when I know that once I’m gone, you’ll start overthinking again,” he had said the night before, his voice soft yet firm. He had removed his suit, leaving only his underwear, and slipped into bed next to me without hesitation.Now, as I gazed at him, a tender smile spread across my face. I turned away, feeling a slight blush creep up my cheeks. But my heart raced when I felt his arm wrap around me, pulling me into a comforting embrace.That meant he’d been awake and had noticed me staring at him. My cheeks burned with embarrassment.“Good morning, my love,” he whispered softly into my ear, his breath warm against my skin.I turned to face him, unable to hide my grin. “Good morning.”He placed a gentle kiss on my lips, then on

    {Martha's POV}A cold chill ran down my spine, mingling with an unsettling feeling as the car pulled into the familiar parking lot of the mansion. Tears threatened to roll down my cheeks as I blinked rapidly, trying my best not to let them fall, or for Nathan to notice.The entire environment was a painful reminder of my parents' death, the day Peter divorced me, and the cruelty he had shown me. I never thought I would set foot in this mansion again, until today.I cast a glance at Nathan as the car came to a stop. The look on his face clearly reflected a similar unease. He paused, staring straight ahead for a moment, before turning to me.“How are you feeling?” he asked with a warm smile, his tired eyes searching mine.“I’m fine. Puffs, we’re here,” I stammered, forcing a smile and rolling my eyes to mask my discomfort.He shrugged, reaching out to softly take my hand before stepping out of the car. I followed, and as I shut the door, I took a deep, steadying breath while Nathan posi

Instead, I found myself staring at the mirror, my reflection meeting my gaze. You have to make him pay.”My own determination stared back at me.I spent minutes in the restroom, trying to piece together the perfect plan to reclaim my inheritance. But no matter how hard I thought, a clear lead evaded me.The thought of going to the room that used to be Peter’s and mine crossed my mind. {Martha's POV} As Nathan pulled out of the parking lot, he glanced in my direction with a comforting smile before turning his focus back to the road. He didn’t say a word, and neither did I. The silence in the car stretched on, heavy and unyielding, as he navigated down the highway. It was obvious he didn’t believe my excuse. The furrow of his brows and the way his fingers tightened around the steering wheel told me his mind was elsewhere, likely trying to piece things together on his own. When we reached the house, Nathan parked the car and turned toward me, his eyes fixed on mine, filled with uncertainty. “My love, promise me you’ll be honest with me,” he said, his voice soft but firm. I swallowed hard, my gaze fluttering as I struggled to find the words. Why now? Why was he asking this? And how was I supposed to give him what he was asking for? “I promise, I’ll be honest with you,” I finally managed, my voice barely audible. He paused, his gaze searching my face as though

    {Martha's Pov}The rest of the afternoon passed in a blur of activity. I met with the staff, reviewed the investor list, and worked through a mountain of documents. As the day wound down, I leaned back in my chair, exhaustion tugging at my limbs. All I wanted now was to go home and rest.A knock on the door broke my thoughts. My gaze shifted towards it as Cherie stepped inside. “Miss Evans, someone is here to see you. He’s our major investor and insists on speaking with you about an urgent matter.”I frowned, rubbing my temples. “I can’t meet anyone today. The meeting has already been scheduled for tomorrow. Please let him know.”Cherie hesitated, her brows knitting together. “I’ve told him, ma’am, but he refuses to leave. He says it’s too important to wait.”A sigh escaped me, resignation settling into my voice. “Fine. Send him in.”Cherie nodded and left, the door clicking softly behind her. I shuffled the documents on my desk, skimming them one last time to prepare for tomorrow’s m

Carolina asked, her piercing gaze locked on me as she walked to the other side of the kitchen. She picked up two plates and placed them side by side on the table."I told him I can’t, and that he should stay within his limits." I stood and walked to the fridge, pulling out a bottle of water. Scraping off the lid, I poured myself a glass."That’s not bad, but I think you should," Carolina said. I nearly choked on the water but managed to swallow it down forcefully. “Peter actually thinks he is smart but you can prove to him that you're smarter.“She moved to the other side of the kitchen and returned with a glass jar of orange juice, carefully placing it on the table."Wha

What I truly longed for, what would have made this victory complete, was seeing my beloved parents again.The bitter truth cut through me like a blade. I had allowed the man who planned their deaths into my life. I had loved him. I had let him and his family treat me like nothing.
