Chapter 306

Nicole's POV

I blinked a few times, not feeling entirely conscious but aware of the pain coursing through my entire body. I lay on my stomach, trying to regulate my ragged, slightly laboured breathing.

The scene in front of me was utter chaos. The smoke grew thicker, blackening the sky, while people around me scattered, running past as I slowly shifted to sit up.

My palms stung, but I ignored the pain as I noticed the smoke was coming from a car not far from me, partially obscured by three recycling bins that had knocked me over and pushed me close to a storefront on the curb. Only then did I realize I had almost been hit by that car?

"W-What…?" I stammered, my lips trembling as I sat frozen in shock, leaning against the stone wall of the shop's front.

Before this, I had only been walking along the roadside, heading back to my car, which was now engulfed in flames. I couldn't see Key anywhere, and with the crowds streaming past me, I wasn't even sure where I was.
