Richard's POV

I was watching my mother, still unaware of my presence. I could see her and the bespectacled man, her companion, walking close together with their hands intertwined.

Both of them waited near the cashier as they ordered drinks, but Uncle Matthew carried both drinks when they received their orders from another staff member behind the counter. They exchanged smiles and said something that made my mother shake her head and eventually give in.

It seemed like they were having another pleasant conversation because my mother smiled as they walked together toward the seating area below.

I sipped my drink without saying much, feeling that my mother and the uncle who often visited our house seemed quite close. This reminded me of social media content showing two people, a man and a woman, behaving similarly and calling themselves a couple.
