Nicole's POV

Maybe life is a joke deliberately thrown at me or a curse that keeps repeating with no end. Or perhaps the man sitting calmly next to me is just a stalker.

I had yet to learn how he managed to find me here. This vacation wasn't even planned, and within less than a day, Matthew and I were already on our way. It seemed only possible for him to know my whereabouts if he had been following me from the beginning.

"Why are you here?" I asked, giving him a sharp, disapproving look.

He seemed surprised, straightening up and pointing at himself. "Can you recognize me even with this mask? Impressive."
