Resign

"Sir, Mrs. Wisteria left a message saying, drop by and have some dinner tonight I'll wait," Jacob said.

Aiden lifted his head to stare at his assistant for a few seconds before glancing at his wristwatch before burying his attention on the pile of papers in front of him.

'When will I be able to finish this?' Aiden asked himself.

A week had passed after Emilia took a day off and got a confirmation that she is pregnant, and she is now in her seventh week, and it is also been a week when her morning sickness had started and her frequent visit to the comfort room. She was glad that she was not like other pregnant women who are sensitive to smell and foods, but she would constantly crave foods that she usually doesn't like, and she is also obsessed with anything that is color white.

While Emilia was busy reviewing for the weekly report, Kendrick announced his presence by calling out to Emilia. Emilia stopped what she was doing and asked Kendrick what he needs.

"Miss Luisa passed a message saying, to the usual place this lunch break," Kendrick said not looking at Emilia but to her computer screen.

'What kind of software testing was she using?' Kendrick asked himself as he walked back to his desk when Emilia nodded her head.

Time flew fast and Emilia's team was now used to her constant trip to the comfort room. As the song started, indicating the company's break time (lunch break), Emilia rise to her seat and gave her team a sweet smile while saying,

"Happy eating everyone. Rest for a while after you eat. Off you go."

This phrase was now commonly heard by Emilia's team since the news of her pregnancy. Emilia also allotted time to train Rosabelle, in case she will have her maternity leave, but Emilia also considered resigning from her job knowing that she was in the same company as Aiden. She had thought about it for the last few days, and as to how she would tell her parents about it.

Emilia grew up with her family of three, as she was the only child. Her father was a ten-wheeler truck driver while her mom had her garden. It really cannot be called a flower shop, since her mom's garden mostly consists of green plants and a few fruit trees.

Emilia thought about the coming Christmas break, and there she decided to tell her parents about her condition and pass her resignation letter before the break starts.

"Christmas break huh? It would usually start on December 23, it would be my 15th week." Emilia mumbled to herself while putting her hand in her still flat stomach.

Emilia was in the company's overview garden on the 8th floor, waiting for Luisa. Not long after, Luisa arrived with a lunchbox in hand. She smiled at the sight of Emilia which Emilia also responded with a smile.

"Hey! It's been a while since we saw each other, are you that occupied that you won't even come to the cafeteria to eat?" Luisa started as soon as she was a half meter away from Emilia.

Emilia chuckled and motioned Luisa to sit beside her and she then started to open her lunchbox.

"so?" Luisa asked again.

Luisa and Emilia started hanging out together and treated each other like a long-time friend. Luisa always ran to Emilia whenever she had problems, and they always encourage one another in times when their work took a toll on their mental health.

"I was just caught up to something and want to finish it before the holiday break." Emilia opened up, which made Luisa lift her right eyebrows.

"what's with the rush darling?" Luisa asked her and took a bite of her lunch.

"I was planning to resign before Christmas break," Emilia said flatly and took a sip of her water before resuming to eat her lunch.

Luisa stopped chewing her food at turned sideways to face Emilia who was enjoying her food.

"wha-what? Resign? But why?" Luisa put down her spoon and focused all of her attention on what Emilia would say after. She looked down and noticed the raw mangoes at the edge of Emilia's lunchbox.

"huh? Didn't you say that you hate raw mangoes?" Luisa looked at Emilia with a confused face.

"I am pregnant."

Two hours ago, on the same day...

"Sir, Miss Klau from the Quality Department is here with Mr. Adams," Justin informed Aiden thru the intercom.

Aiden glanced at his clock and sigh before pressing a button to the intercom and said, "Let Jacob handle them." Aiden replied, not knowing that his decision that day would fill him with regret in the far future.

Aiden was so busy that day that we barely left his table, as he wants to lessen his workload the day after. His itinerary was full for the next 2 months and a half, with the new launching of the two new projects and the merging of the companies that his mother's sister had given to him, for a reason that he didn't know. Aiden still could not believe that his Aunt would just barge in his office three days ago and forced him to sign a few papers which were the certificate of ownership transfer for the sweets company that his Aunt had founded with her best friend who was, until now still missing. He was just rendered speechless when his parents called successively called him last night and gave their congratulations for acquiring the said company. It took him for a few minutes to remember the sudden visit of his Aunt and just left right after he signed a few documents and saying "You sure are a lucky boy."

The day ends with Luisa's head in the clouds while Emilia spends the day calmly did her work, not forgetting to train Rosabelle.

"Son! You're here! Good timing! The food is almost ready now, go freshen up first and come to the dining after." Rachel Wisteria, Aiden's mom said.

Aiden kissed Rachel's cheeks and nod to his father before going to his room on the second floor. Aiden walked to his wardrobe to fetch clothes before going in for a bath. He turned on the shower and looked at his reflection in the mirror. He then remembered that night, when Emilia traced his face with her fingers saying that he's handsome, he recalled meeting her again in his office. Emilia looked quite different from that night. In the office, she looked decent, innocent, and strict, with her glasses on, you could not expect that she and that lady on that night was the same person. Aiden took a deep breath and notice that his dick was up high and proud.

"Damn! Can't I just think of her without you taking part in?" Aiden grumbled and switched the hot shower to a cold one.

The Wisteria Family spend their dinner together. As the dessert was being served, Landon, Aiden's older brother took out a gift to Aiden and said, "This is my advanced birthday gift to you. I know that you would be away by that time."

Aiden received the gift and playfully said, "Brother I will be home if you could just lead the company for me." Landon smacked Aiden's head and their parents laughed at the scene unfolding in their eyes.

Landon Wisteria took interest in guns at a young age and dreamed to be a soldier serving and protecting the country and he was now a first lieutenant while his wife, Bella was a Neurologist.

"hey you know I was just kidding when I said that you didn't have to smack me you know?" Aiden grumbled while rubbing his head, he then noticed that Bella was smiling while looking at them and so he straightened his back and asked Bella, "Was my nephew begun to move now?"

Bella laughed at Aiden, who looks like a kid being given a lollipop. Bella was in the 22nd week of her pregnancy.

"Yes. It moved this morning. She is energetic in the mornings." Bella said while gently touched her baby bump.

"Why don't you just get married and have a kid of your own?" Landon rebuked.

"A child of my own," Aiden mumbled to himself and remembered that he did not use a condom that night. He then decided to check on Emilia, but his schedule did not let him.

Days and weeks had passed like a blink of an eye, and the Christmas break was nearing. Emilia had already passed her resignation letter to her department manager, Miss Klau. At first, Miss Klau rejected her resignation letter the moment she saw it and gave Emilia a reason that it was not convenient for her to quit her job at that time, as things were getting busier. Emilia then reasoned out that she had already trained her team and can take on the said two projects, Which Miss Klau refuted with the reason as to who would lead the team in Emilia's absence. Emilia calmly replied saying,

"You do not need to worry about that Miss Klau, I had already trained someone for that matter. Her name is Rosabelle Montemayores."

Miss Klau stared at Emilia for a while before saying, "You came prepared for this huh? May I at least know what is the reason you resigned at a very young age?"

Emilia smiled warmly at her manager and reach out to her hand to touch her 13th-week baby bump, and said "Because I am pregnant. I want to put all of my attention on my child as she or he grows. Maybe I'll apply back when he turns seven, but that would just be a 'maybe'."

Miss Klau's eyes widened as she heard her reason and she stood up and hugged Emilia.

"My dear child, Congratulations I am happy for you. You made the right decision for that. Is that what your partner had suggested too?"

"I am afraid not, He was not aware, and he may never be," Emilia said faintly, which made Miss Klau think that her child's father abandoned them after doing the deed. She became angry at the thought of it.

"If that is what it is, then so be it. He does not deserve to know. Child, stay safe always okay? I'll call you once in a while. Now it is getting late, you may take an early off today and rest. Don't stress yourself too much, it is bad for the baby."

"Emilia! Let's go now." Luisa called out.

Ever since Luisa knew that Emilia was pregnant, she would take a trip to Emilia's office to go home together. Emilia's team was also one of the few who knew that she was pregnant, as her baby bump was not yet noticeable due to the blazer of her uniform.

Emilia smiled at Luisa and cleaned her table, she stood up carrying her shoulder bag.

"Good work everyone. See you tomorrow." Emilia said to her team and bid her goodbye to them. She walked towards Luisa and Luisa grabbed Emilia's bag and link her arms to Emilia's hand. Emilia just smiled at Luisa's behavior and together they walk towards the elevator. Throughout the walk to the bus station, Luisa kept glancing at Emilia's stomach. Emilia noticed her and so she laughed at her.

"what is it?" Emilia asked Luisa.

"I still could not believe that you are pregnant," Luisa said while still looking at Emilia's stomach.

"Time flew so fast, and next week will be your last week right?" Luisa grabbed Emilia's hand and she looked up to the sky trying hard to hold her tears.

"You can still call me, you know? Besides, Video call is also an option okay?" Emilia smiled warmly at Luisa.

The day ends with Luisa intruding in Emilia's apartment and helped her packed her things, contacted a moving company to send some of the things in advance to Emilia's parent's house by tomorrow morning.
