(Eve's POV)

“This is crazy!” Callahan groaned, placing the sandwich back on the table.

“You’re not eating that?” I gasped, sitting beside him. My eyes were still wide, pinned on the food that would go to waste.

“You’re not eating my sandwich!” He hissed, narrowing his eyes at me, grabbing the sandwich again, and angrily taking a bite of the bread.

“Just asking, Cal,” I said, raising my hands. “Make sure you eat them. You have the habit of eating only half of your food,” I muttered as if I were talking to Cooper or Theo.

He chewed the food but watched me carefully arranging my notebook, tablet, and recorder on the round wooden table. Then I reached for the sandwich in my bag.

“Aw,” I mumbled, pouting at the sorry state of my lunch. My other things in the bag must have pressed the sandwich down into the bag, causing the peanut butter to ooze out and the bread to flatten. I was sure it was a perfectly shaped sandwich when Marga placed it in my bag, but now it looked saggy and unappetizin

(Eve's POV)“Send me the meeting minutes now,” Millicent said, giving me her I-do-not-care-how-you-do-it-look.She stood up and walked towards Callahan, kissing his cheek.“Next time, don’t leave without telling me,” she murmured sweetly, smoothing the lapel of Callahan’s suit jacket.“You’re still sleeping, Milli,” Callahan said in his lifeless tone. “I hate waking you up,” he added before easing back and turning to Bob.Whatever he said to Bob no longer mattered to me. It was like insects were buzzing inside my ears, blocking all the sounds in my surroundings. Before Millicent left the room, she gave me one last look, perhaps trying to check if I would fall if she glared at me again.I didn’t care. At this moment, I was sure my heart had stopped beating while my mind weaved over scenarios of what happened between Callahan and Millicent. I swallowed hard, imagining him getting out of bed, kissing Millicent, naked in his bed.Sighing, I stood up and thought of calling Fabian to clear

(Eve's POV)“Don’t ask,” Callahan said, turning off the engine at the basement parking area.“You won’t hear me asking.” I raised my hands, unbuckled my seatbelt, and exited the car.I curled my lips, sneering as I closed the door. After his dagger looks and silent treatment, who would dare ask him a question? I would ask about Ruby Alvarez later, or maybe not. But I had to do his schedule for tomorrow and make necessary adjustments if Ruby decided to follow up on something.Again, that is if she wants to do it in the office. If they agreed to meet somewhere else, there was nothing to follow up on. I let out a resigned sigh and shook my head.“What now?” My adorable boss asked impatiently.I shrugged, following him inside the elevator. “I didn’t say anything.”“You’re sneering and sighing. That’s a lot for a woman,” he muttered, pressing the 5th-floor button.I grinned. “Oh, you read women.”“Eve,” he snarled, squinting his eyes.I sucked in my lips and pinned my eyes on the elevator

(Eve's POV)The magnificent but old and scary mansion told me we were home, but Callahan stopped and parked the car in front of Wyatt’s house as the barbeque party was happening there. Initially, it should have been in the backyard, but my two boys insisted on having the party there because of the artificial pond he recently added to his place.Wyatt’s promise of allowing Cooper and Theo to fish made my sons gaga over the idea. Callahan slammed the door, startling me.My body jerked, and I turned my head immediately to Callahan, following him walking into my side of the car. He opened the door for me but did not step back, keeping me in my seat.“What is your problem?” He asked, gritting his teeth in anger and annoyance.“Huh?” I shrugged, pretending not to know what he was talking about.Since we left Dr. Preston’s place, I let silence join us in the car. I had my reasons, and one was not wanting to cross the line. I was angry, irritated, unhappy, and… jealous. The last one was like

(Eve's POV)Not showing up at Wyatt’s birthday celebration was not part of the option. My kids and two best friends were there, and Ben, my supposed date for dinner, was there, too. Callahan would suspect I was avoiding him, and whoever was Wyatt’s guest would not believe I felt under the weather. Pain and embarrassment.I weighed them, and the latter was heavier. It was my fault Callahan was furious. I acted like a jealous wife or girlfriend. I acted nuts. Just because we slept together twice, I owned him already? He didn’t even know it.Sighing, I put on the earbuds, paired them with my smartphone, and turned up the volume, deafening my ears with Heartbeat Song. Kelly Clarkson had been with me since my first day here in Moira’s mansion… I meant her songs, not her.The electrical service panel box first. I stopped at it, switching it on and off and on again, hoping it would do the trick of fixing the lights. It didn’t. Rosie mentioned the flickering lights when we cleaned this area

(Eve's POV)“Eve!” Jessy called again. We could hear the clicking as she turned on and off the switch. We both stiffened, and I bet we both stopped breathing. Of all my children coming here, it was Jessy going down and catching me from this insanity.“Eve?” She began to descend the stairs.“Oh, my God!” I whimpered, biting my bottom lip hard.My eyes rolled back, and I was sure it was not because I was worried or panicking about being caught but because Callahan dug in deeper to reach my cell phone and eased back, pulling out his manhood. I arched my hips back like a wanton-lust crazy woman, not wanting this craziness to end.“Rosie?” Callahan cleared his throat and beamed the small light to the staircase, stopping Jessy from taking another step.Thank God for this pull-out storage; we were hidden except for Callahan’s head, peering at my daughter.“Mr. Barclay,” Jessy muttered, not correcting him. “Where’s E…” she cleared her throat. “Mom?”“Basement,” he answered briefly, his other

(Eve's POV)“Bernard?” Bethany and Marga smiled wickedly, saying the name simultaneously.I caught Bethany waggling her brows at her, and Marga giggled, getting the silent message from her.“Bernard?” Isabella groaned. “Mommy, nooooo!”“Huh?” I mumbled confusedly, lowering my gaze to see what Isabella was complaining about and wishing that when I looked up, Bernard would be gone.“Mommy, I’m not naming my cat Bernard,” she curled her trembling lips, crossing her arms over her chest. Cat?I turned my head to Marga, and for a while, I had forgotten Bernard was there, walking with Rosie towards us. Cooper had been wanting to adopt a cat or dog, but we could never have one, considering his health condition.“Cat?” I said it out loud this time.“Uhuh,” she nodded and grinned. “Mr. Barclay promised to give me a cat.”My jaw dropped, and I blinked perhaps a thousand times while looking at the sky and scoffing before I looked at Callahan.“I can’t make her stop crying,” Callahan said in a h

Her palms on my youngest child’s face, covering my daughter’s eyes. “Not you,” finished Bethany, smirking and turning her head to the pathway. I glanced over my shoulder, following her gaze, and saw Callahan and Rudy walking away. When I turned to them, Rosie walked in the opposite direction, taking Isabella with her and fetching Theo from the other table. My lips parted, unsure of what to say. My heart was in revolt, angry at Callahan, but when I saw them leaving the party and Rosie not looking at me, I realized I had done something wrong. No! It was wrong. I shouldn’t have entertained Bethany’s joke. I shouldn’t have kissed Wyatt. Bernard cleared his throat. His lips curved into a gentle smile but didn’t reach his eyes. He looked hurt. “I wanted to stay, but I remember I have papers to check,” he told Bethany. When my best friend lifted a brow, he chuckled a

(Eve’s POV)“Eve…” Marcus whispered, shaking my shoulder gently.I let out a deep groan, quietly complaining to myself. I rolled to the opposite side of the bed, hoping to get more sleep. I had not slept in days because Cooper had been having asthma, Theo had a fever because of infection, and I had been feeling under the weather for days.“I’m sorry, sweetheart, but Jessy’s fever is not going down,” Marcus muttered worriedly. “What should I do?”“Huh?” Hearing Jessy’s name woke me, but I could hardly open my eyes.Jessy seldom gets sick, but when she does, it is usually so severe that we have to bring her to the hospital. I groaned and tried to open my eyes again. Marcus had just returned from his business trip last night, but he told me he would look after the kids so I could get a few hours of sleep.“Eve…”“How’s Jessy?” I asked with my eyes still closed.“Eve, Jessy’s missing.”Missing? (Eve’s POV)“Where did all that energy come from, Eve?” Marga laughed warmly, her eyes sparkling with curiosity as she glanced at her. “Argh! I need to sit. Order for me, Beth.” She took a deep breath, savoring the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee that wafted through the air as they stepped into Tony’s Café.Although Bethany looked as drained as Marga, she chose not to say anything. She went straight to the counter without asking for our orders. My pregnant friend pulled a chair and moaned. “Ahh! This is heaven.”“Sitting down? I’d dreamt of this, and even in a dream, it’s tiring. Right now, what I need is a massage. (Eve’s POV)I blinked rapidly, my gaze fixed on Wyatt at the dining table, laughing hard at Harry’s joke. I managed to force a laugh at something he said that wasn’t even funny. I managed to finish the main course, but I could hardly swallow the cupcake dessert. It must be my instinct, but something was off about him. After taking another sip of the wine he gave me, I rested my clenched fists in my lap, controlling the tension through my body. I plastered a smile, showing him I was okay because Harry kept glancing at me every time my lips touched the glass.A sudden wave of heat washed over me. Was it the lingering effects of last night's fever? I returned the wine glass to the table, picked up the water, and drank it slowly, my eyes darting to my phone, a silent plea for escape. I glanced at Wyatt, and even without words, we both knew we were in the same uncomfortable boat.I tilted my head, suddenly seeing Wyatt so attractive. My eyes began roaming from his gorgeous face down to his

(Eve’s POV)My children gasped when Cotton escaped Theo’s hold but giggled when they saw it approach me, walking between my legs and curling its tails as it meowed. When the kitten raised its head and met my eyes as if to say we had met again, I yelped and squeezed my eyes shut. This must be another dream.Isabella came to the rescue, picking up her pet. “Don’t be scared, Mommy. Cotton’s just greeting you,” she said, her eyes wide.A nervous chuckle escaped my mouth, and then I stared at Callahan, looking tired as if he had not slept a bit. He walked toward me after calling my kids to sit and eat breakfast.“What…” What are you doing here? I cleared my throat and changed my mind about asking him. Instead, I lifted my hand and pressed my palm on his forehead. “Are you okay?”Callahan grasped my hand and nodded. “I should be the one asking you that, Eve.”With wide eyes, I leaned forward and whispered, unconsciously saying, “You’re not supposed to come today.”He scoffed, releasing my ha

  • Eve's Obsession   Chapter 70 – Mommy Is Sick

(Eve’s POV)I have an hour.“Cal…” I whispered his name, slipping my tongue between his lips.Callahan parted his lips for me and kissed me passionately, waking every part of my body. Slowly, he trailed my shoulders down to my wrists.A low growl escaped my throat, pushing my body against him. I must be sick… or maybe an addiction to him because whenever Callahan and I started touching each other, I couldn’t push him away or stop myself. I became a slave, letting him do whatever he wanted to do with me.The dampness between my legs and the heat crawling through my skin proved I wanted him now. I withdrew my hand from him, reaching the zipper of his pants and grasping his pulsing tool. My heart raced, feeling his already hard member. I moaned deliciously, feeling the tingling down my core. I was on fire!“Eve…” Callahan moaned, grabbing my hand and stopping me from pulling the zipper down.“How about we make that dream come true, Cal,” I whispered, taunting him.Callahan chuckled softl

  • Eve's Obsession   Chapter 69 – Seize The Day

(Eve’s POV)“What?” I hissed, irked that he had to remember that hot night. I didn’t even know how we ended up in my bedroom. All I remembered was offering him a coffee after tucking the kids to bed, but instead of heading to the front door, we were both like crazy couples, kissing and touching as we headed to my bedroom.I jerked, withdrawing my arm. This time, Callahan released me. “We had sex? That’s absurd. A nightmare!” I gritted my teeth,Callahan let out a sigh and said, “For you.”It should have been like rocketing fireworks in the sky, but it was an exploding firecracker for me, making me angrier at him.Tears welled in my eyes. “What am to you, Cal? Your daily dose of medicine? You think I solve your sex problem?”Because if I was, I guessed I had a problem in that department, too. As much as I wanted to stay away from Callahan, every time he touched me, my body responded. Positively! All the way! My body shivered in anger, but I couldn’t shout or scream. All this conversa

  • Eve's Obsession   Chapter 68 – The Wrong Answer

(Eve’s POV)Call me a cheater, but the very reason for repeating the day was to ensure I made the right decision and correct whatever mistake I made. This was not for me but for my kids. I would not leave them alone in this world with the wrong parent. Judge me, but no dying mother would want that.“Don’t go home yet,” Marga begged when I told them I was going home.I glanced at my phone screen and shook my head briefly. This is exactly what happened the first time. “Nope. You know that I have to cook for my children. Mommy duties,” I muttered firmly.Half lie. Half truth.I had to be home before Callahan could walk into the living room, give the cat to my children, and stop Isabella from loving my boss to the moon and back. Although Cotton was a cute Balinese kitten, and like my children, I also fell in love with the tiny feline, I still had to consider Cooper’s health. After a few minutes of convincing Bethany and Marga, they finally let me go. Before driving home, I set the alarm

  • Eve's Obsession   Chapter 67 – Maybe Not The End

(Eve’s POV)The cinema was almost empty, the early hour casting a strange, eerie vibe. I couldn’t tell if the tiny hairs on my skin were standing because the zombie was approaching the closet where the child was hidden or because of the cold. Had I known Bernard wanted to watch a movie, I would have brought a sweater. And then there was the fact that I couldn't scream, not without drawing unwanted attention from the staff. It was all so awkward.I grabbed a handful of popcorn and shoved it into my mouth, my eyes on the large screen. I was so glad the movie was about to end.My eyes widened, and my heart hammered my chest, not because the zombie was a foot away from the closet but because of a warm hand on my knee. I chewed slowly, pretending I didn’t notice it, but when he leaned his head closer to mine, I couldn’t help but swallow the food in my mouth.I coughed briefly and was glad I chewed the popcorn well. It would be embarrassing if I choked on the popped kernels.Bernard breathe

(Eve’s POV)Perhaps dating a younger man like Bernard was a bad idea, I thought to myself.‘Stop, self!’ I told myself, sounding like a decade older than Bernard when I was only two years older than him. I sighed when I glanced at my phone screen, realizing my date was thirty minutes late.I crossed my legs, picked up the cup, which was almost empty, and looked outside the window of Shay’s restaurant. On my date with Bernard, I didn’t leave home early. I didn’t suspect the first time as I was too nervous and focused on my date with Ben, but when I saw my children earlier, I had to check the kitchen, which was messier than I imagined. The sink was overflowing with dishes, and the floor was scattered with crumbs. Still, I arrived on time at Shay’s and was still lucky to get the same spot as my date with Ben.“Finally!” I breathed, a mix of relief and annoyance washing over me as Bernard finally entered the restaurant. Despite the wait, I managed to keep my patience intact. I had to meet

(Eve’s POV)“Faster!” I moaned, my voice hushing beautifully across the room while my fingernails dug into Callahan’s skin.“My pleasure,” Callahan smiled, thrusting into my core deeper, faster. The bliss of too much pleasure made my toes curl, and I screamed, crying his name. Then… I gasped, my brows furrowing when he suddenly stopped and looked closer at me, shaking my shoulders.“Mommy! Mommy!” cried Isabella.“Huh?” I groaned when I heard my daughter’s cry. I opened my eyes and blinked confusedly at the same ceiling I was staring at while Callahan buried his heavy and massive manhood inside me. My body jerked at the small hands, shaking my shoulders and pulling my arms.“Mommy!” Theo screamed, grasping my right arm hard with his hands. My heart hammered my chest as I met three pairs of eyes, round and scared, looking at me.“Mommy, are you okay?” Cooper asked worriedly.“Huh?” I swallowed hard, blinking again and quickly processing what happened last night.
