Everyone in Amania was now inside the hurricane shelter and were all finding a little corner to tuck themselves in while they waited for the storm to pass. Hannah was the only one still on her feet because Garin wasn’t there yet and she worried.
“Hannah, relax. I’m sure Garin will be fine. He’s a strong man, I believe he will make it out there,” Nina, Abu’s wife said consolingly.“I know he’s strong but do you not hear the wind outside? Even parts of this shelter have broken apart since the storm started and it’s only going to get worse. He’s in trouble, I feel it,” Hannah lamented with a hand on her chest. She could hear the boom of thunder and feel the intensity of the rain and all she could picture in her head was Garin laying in a ditch somewhere, drowning, screaming her name, hoping she’ll come and help save him. The smell of the rain encased her senses and reminded her of the nights they spent in the unforgiving ocean. She remembered all the things they had suffered and all times they nearly died but didn’t because of Garin. His strength, his desire to live, his love, his willpower, and his perseverance was the reason they survived. She knew she owed her life to him and at that moment, she made her mind up.“I need to go find him,” She muttered but Nina heard her.“No, you can’t go out there, Hannah,” Nina said and tried to hold her back from reaching the door.“Hannah, stop! If you go out there, you will surely die,” Abu said as he moved over to her.“My husband needs my help. I can’t just sit in here and do nothing,” Hannah said.“Going out there won’t solve anything,” Fara put in, “What if he found a safe place to hide from the hurricane? What if he’s alright and you go there and put yourself at risk for nothing?”Everyone grunted in agreement with Fara’s statement, trying to get her to listen and not go outside. They didn’t understand the strength of Hannah’s bond with Garin. They weren’t feeling what she was feeling so they couldn’t understand. She could feel him in trouble. She could feel his heart beating a lot faster than usual. She could feel how cold his skin was. She could feel his ragged breathing and the pain in his foot. He was in trouble and she knew it.“Garin is not alright. I have to go,” She ran for the door.“Stop,” One of the Elders ordered, “you cannot leave this shelter, Hannah.”“Just try and stop me,” She replied. At that same time, a coconut tree got uprooted by the powerful wind and fell on the top of the shelter, partially breaking through the roof and into the ceiling. Everyone began to panic as they felt that the shelter would not hold. Mothers were grabbing onto their children, children were wailing and weeping, while the men got to work to try and minimize the damage so the building would hold.Hannah saw this as the perfect distraction to sneak away and go find her husband. With everyone focused on the tree, she slipped out the shelter door and ran into the storm to find Garin.Nina turned back around and saw that Hannah had disappeared and she called out to Abu. He ran over to the huge door and considered running out to find Hannah before she got too far but the wind and water changed his mind immediately he felt them on his skin.He closed the door instead and locked it. He turned over to his wife and gave her a look; a look that meant Hannah and Garin were on their own and only the gods could save them....Garin held on to the roots of a large oak tree, clinging on for dear life as the winds tried to blow him away. He had a piece of tree impaled into his right leg and couldn’t walk. The rains fell so strongly, bringing huge floods along with it that were also trying to wash Garin away. He was losing his grip on the roots and he didn’t know how much longer he could hold on.When he thought it couldn’t get worse, it did because Zarif appeared before him to mock his situation and annoy him a little.“Well, what do we have here? You don’t look so good brother,” Zarif said with a smile. He stood firmly with his feet planted into the ground and the winds could not carry him off. He bent over to Garin’s height and sat down beside him.“I wonder how long you’ll be able to hang on to those roots or how long this tree will hold out before the winds pick it out of the ground. What would you reckon? Two, three or four more minutes?”Garin stayed quiet and continued holding on. He didn’t want to waste his energy exchanging words with his brother and also, and he was determined to survive just so he could find his wife and make sure that she was alright.“Oh, would you look at what you’ve become? You’re here, at a point between life and death, the wind and the water threatening to pull you away and all you can think about is that damned angel,” Zarif said in annoyance. He could read Garin’s mind and his determination to find Hannah and make sure she was alright was irritating to the demon. He couldn’t understand why Garin was so willing and is still so willing to put her needs before his, her life before his, her wellbeing before his. It didn’t make any sense to him.Garin remained silent and another wave washed over him and he almost lost his grip on the tree. Zarif loved what he was seeing, he loved how much of a hard time Garin was having and just when he thought it couldn’t get any better, it did.“Well, well, well, would you look at that?” Zarif said as he looked ahead, “I guess you’re not the only one in this weird relationship who puts the other person’s needs and safety before theirs.”“What are you talking about?” Garin asked.“About two miles away, your beloved angel is making her way through the storm, screaming your name while trying to find you,” Zarif said.He could see that far ahead because of his demon powers but Garin couldn’t because he was a human now. He looked up ahead but all he saw was the rain and he couldn’t see anything past it.“You’re lying. She’s not out here. She’s back in the village with everyone else. She’s safe in the shelter and you’re just trying to get me to abandon my only chance of surviving this hurricane,” Garin said in denial.“Please, Garin, I wouldn’t joke around about something so serious but if you need me to show you, I will,” Zarif used his powers to enhance Garin’s vision so he could see ahead.Zarif was telling the truth now, he could see. Hannah was in the storm looking for him and she wasn’t doing too well either. She was being thrown around by the wind like a ragdoll and if she was out here for a little longer, she could die. Garin couldn’t stand seeing her suffer all because she was trying to save him so he decided to find the strength he needed to fight through the pain of his impaled foot and brave the elements to save the love of his life.“There he is,” Zarif said in excitement when he saw Garin trying to get to his feet.“Get up, Garin. Find the will to get moving so you can save her,” Zarif said condescendingly.Grain paid no mind to him and finally managed to stand erect. He was still holding on to the tree but in order to save Hannah, he would have to let go.He took in a deep breath and let go of the tree, limping into the eye of the storm for his love. Zarif smirked after Garin ventured forward and watched him intently. He vanished into the abyss, certain that this time, Garin would not survive.“Hannah,” Garin screamed at the top of his lungs as he powered through the storm. He couldn’t see anything ahead of him and was moving blindly in the rain. Lightning struck a nearby tree and almost hit him as well, but he was lucky to not have been too close to the tree. He kept moving with his hand over his eyes so he could see better but it didn’t make that much of a difference. From out of nowhere, an uprooted tree flew into Garin’s path and headed straight for him. He didn’t see the tree on time and before he could react or duck out of the way, the tree slammed into him and knocked him down.He was badly hurt and could barely keep his eyes open because he hit his head hard against a rock.“Hannah,” He whispered before his eyes went shut.Like the day couldn’t exist without the night, like light couldn’t exist without darkness, as Yin relies on Yang, and like the moon pulled the tides, Hannah and Garin were opposites that couldn’t exist without the other. Their existence was completely dependent on each other and if one of them were to die, the other would find life meaningless and not worth living.Garin was in trouble and he needed to be saved because if he died in this storm and left Hannah all alone, she would slip into depression and would eventually take her own life just to be with him in Harlem.“Garin,” Hannah called out to him, barely able to hear the sound of her own voice because of how loud everything else was.“Garin,” Hannah searched, barely able to stay on her feet because of how powerful the winds were. She moved closer and closer to where Garin was but, she couldn’t see him yet. Just at the moment when it seemed like she was going to finally run into him, she went in a different direction, unaware tha
A few days passed and the day of Clinton Corp’s fundraiser finally arrived. The event was scheduled to start by four in the afternoon and run through till it was over, whatever time that may be. Isabelle was really looking forward to going for mainly two reasons; she was excited to finally get back to a work setting and slowly get back into shape and catch up on everything she had missed out on since she was gone AND she wanted to try again to create a bond with Josh’s father and maybe even his sister Janet.A few things had happened in the past days and they included Mrs Rita returning back home to Iowa. She really didn’t want to leave yet but she had duties she needed to attend to back home so she had no choice but to leave. She left happy though, because she knew her daughter was in good hands with Josh and was also in a good place in her life where she didn’t need someone to constantly worry about her.Gwen had moved out of Isabelle’s place and gone back to her matrimonial home. S
After they got to the venue of the fundraiser, Josh parked the car and was getting ready to get out. He took off his seatbelt and just as he was about to open the door, Isabelle held him back by the shoulders."Wait up," She said softly."Wait up from what?" Josh asked. She pulled him over to her and wrapped her hands around his face. She pulled him in and claimed his lips in a long and possessive kiss, almost like a branding of ownership or a reminder that he was hers and no one else's. She kissed him deeply but softly, using her tongue to break the barrier of his lips and into his mouth. After she had had enough, she slowly pulled away and licked his lips one last time which left him dizzy and aroused."Now, we can go," She said mysteriously and got out of the car from her side.Josh still hadn't composed himself because that kiss had messed up his head. He shook himself back to reality and went outside the car. Isabelle was already walking into the event and he caught up to her an
Mr and Mrs Clinton were done with their speech and stepped off the stage so the fundraiser could begin. The MC took to the stage once more and asked the valets to start bringing in the items one after the other so they could start the auction. Mrs Helena sat back down on her seat and Janet leaned over to speak to her. “That was such a moving speech, mom. Absolutely beautiful,” Janet told her mother. “Don’t patronize me, Janet. You already knew the speech by heart so would you stop trying to suck up to me?” Her mother whispered to her. Janet moved away because once again her mother only saw her as scheming and overly ambitious. She didn’t understand why her parents treated her the way they did despite all she had done and was still doing for the company. She was frustrated but she had too much perseverance to stop now. She would take all the abuse and all the maltreatment but in the end, she would get her parent’s trust and confidence. “Where’s your brother?” Helena asked Janet.
About an hour later, the auction was over and the fundraiser was being rounded off. It was a very productive evening for Clinton Corp as the company raised over six million dollars for their charity and the media had broadcasted the whole thing which in turn brought them more publicity and potential new investors and partners.Everyone was saying their congratulations and goodbyes, rubbing elbows and giving thanks so Josh and Isabelle did the same. Mr and Mrs Clinton went around thanking their friends and associates for coming to the event and for their donations as well. Janet didn’t spend a single minute away from her father. She was constantly by his side while he spoke to these people and whenever she could, she would bring up the fact that she was the one who put the auction together so she would come off to them as smart and capable in hopes that her parents would start to feel the same.Isabelle on the other hand went over to Mr Hitchens, her immediate boss at the company to sp
It was late in the night and Josh decided to take Isabelle to his place to spend the night because his house was a lot closer from the venue of the fundraiser than her apartment was. She agreed to it and besides, they were still hot for each other and spending the night in the same bed wasn’t such a bad idea.Josh drove until he arrived at his house. He rode the vehicle into the parking spot and turned off the engine.“Madame, we have arrived,” He said to Isabelle with an Italian accent and it made her laugh.“Thank you, Don Joshua,” She played along. They both chuckled as they got out of the car. Josh walked from his side over to hers so they could head inside together but just as he was about to reach her, an unknown figure flew out of nowhere and snatched Isabelle off the ground and flew with her into the sky.“Isabelle…” Josh screamed after her as whatever took her disappeared out of the sky and was just gone, and so was she.It had moved so fast that Josh didn’t get to see what i
Josh was down on the ground and he was unconscious. What he had just gone through with Garin trying to get out of him had hurt him badly and he was knocked out because of it. As he lay on the ground motionless, a person walked up to him and rolled him over on his back. The person placed a hand on his chest and a bright light shined just before Josh opened his eyes, gasping back to consciousness. Josh was breathing heavily and was very disoriented so he couldn’t see quite clearly who was bent down in front of him.“Josh? Can you hear me?” The person asked him but Josh’s eyes couldn’t quite focus yet because he was seeing multiple warbled faces in front of him.“Come on, Josh. Focus on me…focus,” The person said again and gently slapped Josh on the face to get him focused.Josh’s vision finally found balance and he could see that the person beside him was Garin. He was in his human form and he had a smile on his face to welcome Josh back to reality.“There he is,” Garin said.“Garin? Is
Hannah and Norae flew up high into the sky while striking their weapons against each other’s. They went blow for blow, hit for hit, light against light, each determined to gain the edge against the other as sparks of lightning generated from the clangs their weapons made as they struck.Norae suddenly did a 360 swirl and swung her spear at Hannah’s chest but she was able to block against the hit. It blasted her across the sky and away from Norae who threw her spear at her. The spear came to a stop in front of Hannah and tried to stab her multiple times by itself. Norae was using her telekinesis to control the spear and attack Hannah with it. Hannah had to be quick and sharp as she blocked the floating spear. Norae called the weapon back to her hand and flew at Hannah again. They continued their dance, slicing and swiping at each other, a series of hits that seemed unlikely to yield a victor because of how equally matched they were. Norae held up her spear with both hands and transfo
Later that night, Jennifer was asleep in her apartment when she felt a soft breeze blow around her which was accompanied by a weird sound. She opened her eyes and sat on her bed. “Summum? Is that you?” She called out, thinking the God had returned. “That ship has sailed, my dear and a new one has come to replace it,” A man’s voice said to her. In fear, Jennifer reached for the lamp on her nightstand and turned it on. She looked down at her bed and saw a man sitting in front of her with his legs crossed. “Hello, my dear. I’ve come to collect,” Lucifer said. “Who are you and what do you mean by that?” Jennifer asked, still scared. “You made a deal with one of my children and although she’s dead now, that deal remains and you were never able to deliver,” He said. A look of realization suddenly appeared on Jennifer’s face. This strange man was talking about her deal with Gentel and he had referred to her as “one of his children” and that could only mean one thing; HE WAS THE DEVIL H
“Take a seat and let’s talk," Jennifer slowly walked over to her messed-up couch and took a seat, all the while without tearing her gaze away from the strange woman. “I can’t talk business with someone if I don’t know their name, now can I?” Jennifer asked, less afraid and more confident. She could tell that whoever this woman was, she wasn’t here to hurt her. She needed something from her which meant that she was valuable and if she was valuable, she surely wouldn’t be hurt. “Don’t flatter yourself, Jennifer. You’re my first choice but it doesn’t mean that you’re my only choice so I would advise you to maintain your fear of me,” The woman told her after reading her mind. She walked over to the table in front of the couch and sat on it, facing Jennifer. “My name is Summum, but you can call me Sue,” She said. “What are you?” Jennifer asked. “I am a God, and not one of those pagan monkeys that humans all worship…I am a real God, equal in many ways with the one who made the world
Isabelle moaned with pleasure as Josh broke into her. She clenched her fist around the bed sheets and closed her eyes as he settled inside her. Her dark eyes remained dark as Summum’s power rose within the two of them. They were now at the point of no return, performing the act that would birth the last Nephalem and begin the revolution. “Take me, Josh. Don’t stop,” Isabelle moaned, willing him to go further, deeper, harder and faster. Josh drove himself into her and back out again, never slowing down the rhythm of his lovemaking. As he lay on her, he raised his head so he could look into her eyes and when he did, they were normal and they were so inviting. Josh kissed her lips, fondling her tongue with his while moving his hips. They both groaned and moaned, enjoying the feel of their bodies, basking in the heat emanating from them and loving every single piece of the moment they were sharing. Just outside the house, the winds were blowing strongly and howling loudly because of th
Back in the shaman’s store, Hannah and Garin went back inside and found Selene flipping through a book that was placed on the table. “Is that book that has the spell we need?” Garin asked the shaman.“Yes, it is. Somewhere in its pages are a series of instructions, a list of all the ingredients needed to make a potion and the incantation that will get the Neph out,” Selene replied. She looked up and noticed the woman that was standing beside Garin and she could tell that Hannah wasn’t human despite looking like one. It didn’t take long before Selene sensed what Hannah was and she looked at her questioningly. “Um, Selene, this is my wife, Hannah,” Garin introduced her when he noticed the shaman staring at her. “Your wife?” Selene was shocked to hear this, “But, isn’t she a…?” “Yeah, she is. That isn’t important for now. Have you found the spell?” Garin asked. “Yeah, I have,” Selene said and tried to restore her focus to the task at hand, “Here it is,” She pointed at a page in the
In the middle of the night, Garin woke up to the sound and feel of the wind coming into the room through the open door. He sat up and his eyes immediately fell on Hannah who was asleep, still facing the direction away from him. He turned his gaze away from her and looked at the entry point, wondering why the door was wide open. He looked over at the other side of the room and saw that neither Layla nor Kessie were on their mat-bed. “Oh no,” He whispered and dashed to his feet. Hannah woke up to the sound of his movement and looked at him, wondering what was going on. “What is it, Garin?” She asked as she sat up. “The girls are gone,” Garin told her as he went to search through their things. “What?” Hannah asked in shock, “What happened to them? Where did they go?” “I don’t know, Hannah. I just woke and noticed that they weren’t here,” He said while looking into his satchel, “…and neither is my bag of coins,” he added. They realized now that Layla had taken off with her sister a
875 A.DAs the pack of wolves surrounded Garin, he was filled with a sense of dread and fear, knowing fully well that these animals were hungry and they were not going to be easy to get away from. Garin was unarmed and outnumbered and the only weapon he could find was a large stick of firewood. He picked up the log and spun around several times, trying to spot each wolf from every angle that they were coming.Garin counted seven wolves and they were all growling at him, snarling with their extremely long fangs, preparing to attack and claim their meal. “You dogs want a piece of me?” Garin asked aggressively, swinging his log around, “Well, come and get it,” he taunted the wolves.Three of the seven wolves launched a simultaneous attack from different angles as they dashed at him to rip him apart. Two pounced toward him but he rolled out of the way and they collided with each other in mid-air. The third wolf attack Garin who was crouched on the ground but he swung at it with the log a
Hannah appeared inside the copy room which was dark so she used her power to switch on the light bulb. The room was brighter now and Hannah was able to look around for anything out of the ordinary so she could have some idea about who or what attacked Isabelle. She heightened the sense of her eyesight and scanned the room, looking for any traces or remnants of a Celestial or a Supreme so she could figure it out but she couldn’t find anything. Hannah decided to leave but just as she was about to, she heard something flutter just ahead of her, in the corner of the room and she walked over and bent down to inspect what it was. Just as she suspected, it was a remnant of a Celestial. It was like a sprinkle of dark fog that had settled down at the bottom of the floor and Hannah reached out and touched it.As her hand made contact with the fog, it stung her sharply and as she felt the pain, she recognized it. It was the same pain that she felt when she was cut by the Nephalem’s weapon back i
"I think we have to test this out, just to be sure," Josh said."I am sure, Josh. Your assistant can see me even though I'm cloaked," Garin said.Josh didn't listen to what the demon was saying. He grabbed his office phone and called Karen's desk and asked her to see him in his office.Karen got off the phone and walked over and into Josh's office, wondering why he called her up."Yes, sir. What can I do for you?" She asked."Yes, Karen. I just wanted to know if we've received any orders from China recently. It's been a while since our customers over there bought our brand," He said."I'm sorry, sir but that's not the department I work with so I wouldn't have that information," Karen answered."Oh! My mistake," Josh said apologetically and saw an opening to squeeze in the question, "Before you go, tell me; Is there anyone in here right now except the two of us?" He asked.Karen looked around and was a little weirded out by the question but she couldn't tell her boss how she truly felt
“It was always so simple, Sagarus,” Lucifer said to The Tormentor, “I had finally managed to have a chance to screw my father and take everything from him. I got him to accept the bet, I got him to put his entire power and control on the line and just when I was about to grab on to it, it slips away as it always has because, as it turns out, there’s another supreme being that’s just so conveniently been thrown into the mix and also wants the power for himself,” He vented.Sagarus wasn’t really known to say much so he just listened to Lucifer and grunted in agreement. They were in Lucifer’s chambers where the devil was contemplating how to turn the tide back in his favour.“What am I supposed to do now, Sagarus? How am I supposed to get anything out of this when the real fight starts?” Lucifer asked and turned to his demon for some advice; any advice at all.“I don’t know, my lord,” Sagarus replied, much to the devil’s dislike.“That’s not what I want to hear, Sag. You’re one of my old
