"Okay, when you're doing a jump. I want you to shift. I actually want to see what this wolf looks like." Seraphine announced when we started our training on the following morning. I was starting to get the hang of all this training. Each time I moved, my muscles became a little less sore. I feel like I'm improving. I watched as Seraphine grabbed the long ended sword. We had done this practice a few times, She would swing towards my mid section and then I would jump to avoid the blow. This time, instead of leaping over to land on my hands, I would be landing on my paws instead. No one had really had the chance to see Reya up close, there was something to be said about white wolves, though I never really understood the meaning behind them. My brother's wolf was an offwhite color with dark splotches, but Reya.. Reya was a stark white wolf from head to paw. I was nervous to let her out, afraid of what others would see in her.
I ran towards Seraphine, I watched for the exact moment where she swung the weapon towards my center, I leaped, and triggered my shift. This action would shred through my clothes and as I landed down, I landed gracefully on the four paws of Reya's form. Seeing through her eyes was like seeing through a magnified glass. Everything was clearer through her. We pranced for a moment, Reya's personality was very... confident. She was a bit conceited with herself, but I never really minded it. We turned to look back at Seraphine, whose eyes had widened in response. She looked like a mixture of recognition, fear, and admiration filled her. "Holy shit!" Seraphine exclaimed and put her hand out to pet our muzzle. "That's fucking wild, can't say I was expecting that. White wolves are incredibly rare." She said and then shifted to her own dark and copper colored wolf to continue our training.
At the end of our session I shifted back. Zayden was there to hand me a change of clothes but what was more surprising was Kaine standing behind him with a perplexed look on his face. As I pulled on the dark tanktop and leggings and slipped back into my shoes. He continued to have this hardened look on his face that I just couldn't read. "Come with me." He demanded as he reached out and took me by the hand. I could do little but follow as he practically dragged me back into the packhouse. A few minutes later, I found myself situated in a chair at the library as Kaine was feverishly digging through the books on the shelves. I didn't understand what had gotten into him all of a sudden, I sat there quietly as he dug through the books quickly. He seemed to be searching for something in particular.
"What's the name of your wolf?" He suddenly asked. I sucked in a deep breath, opening the water bottle that Seraphine had tossed me on my way up here. "Reya." I replied, Kaine suddenly paused for a moment and then reached his arm higher for a different set of books, apparently finding what he was looking for. He settled down at the table with the book in hand and flipped through the pages until he found what he was looking for. There was an illistrated image there that looked like my wolf and then an article that followed after.
"I don't know how to tell you this, but stark white wolves are extremely rare. Possessing a White Wolf is basically like being true Alpha Royalty. It's abnormal to have wolves of solid colors. A white one signifies not only pure blood but also primarily some unique special abilities. White wolves are like.. elders of our culture, stronger than the others but Reya in particuar. Well Wolves are given to us at a specific age. When we die, our wolves are passed along to another through the grace of the Goddess. Anyway I'll let you read it for yourself." Kaine said as he passed the book around in front of me so I could read the contents.
Reya - The White Guardian
Nicknamed Reya the Reaper, or Reya the Ghost Wolf. This She-Wolf is part of the sixteen Guardian Wolves. The originals of the beasts that have been granted to the Shifter Race. Primarily gifted to the True-Alpha shifters. She is known for her special abilities and above average strength that she gifts to her human counterparts. Unlike other Wolves, Reya is only reborn and gifted to a user once every hundred years. Reya's rebirth normally predates a time of great strife for her people, for each time this particular Guardian Spirit is reborn, War normally befalls the lands she is born to within a small frame of time. This Wolf is seen as The Ghost Wolf because where she goes, death and war will soon follow. A guardian of great ability, Reya is gifted to a user, at a time where her people are most vulnerable. If this Guardian Wolf is seen... Know that trouble is ahead...
I stared at the few words written in the article there, and I closed the book. I stared down at the title of the book. The Sixteen Guardian Wolves - Alexander Thorne
Reya, Is this true? I asked my wolf. There was quiet for a few moments before I felt her stir.
Basically, though the nicknames are quite insulting. They believe that my appearance triggers a sequence of events that ultimately ends with mass amounts of death. I've been reported as an Omen, but that isn't true. The Goddess chooses a host for us based on many different factors. If she fears for her children, she sends a Guardian, even if that war is between factions of her own children.
So, there's going to be some kind of serious war happening?
At this time, it's unclear. I can't tell the future, Valeria. I do feel that something big is about to happen. There is tension already in the air, I can feel it.
What are these special abilities though?
Don't jump the gun. I can tell you about them, but first you need to figure out who you are. I am only born to true Alpha children. Someone with real strength to handle my form. I can spell that out for you, you aren't, and never were an Omega. You need to find your father.
My Dad? He's just some Omega asshole that left me.
Sweet girl. Jordon isn't your father, nor is he Zayden's.
"What?!" Kaine said as he paced the library floor. He didn't seem happy with all the news that I repeated from Reya. This definitely muddled things. There was a Ascension event happening in just a week, and then a Luna Ascension ceremony happening the week after. I couldn't imagine that him learning that not only was I not some weak Omega, but that I have ties to some unknown Alpha, the news had to be hard. Not to mention that Reya being back, most definitely meant war. It had to be troubling news. "Who saw that wolf?" Kaine suddenly asked. I was surprised by his sudden reaction to all the news. I sucked in a deep breath. "Seraphine, maybe a few of the men training on the grounds." Kaine suddenly paused, his eyes kind of glossed over, he must've been linking his inner circle. When he finished with what he was doing, he took my face in his hands and looked deep into my eyes. "You don't show anyone that wolf until we figure this mess out. I've notified Seraphine, and I'll talk to my fa
I woke the following morning, expecting to find Kaine asleep beside me, as I had every morning. As I rolled over to lay my arm across him, I found him missing. I groggily woke up to the sound of distant screaming happening outside. I yawned, and quickly got up. I grabbed a fresh tanktop and a pair of jean shorts from the dresser. I dressed quickly and slipped on my flats. I tossed my hair up into a messy bun as I headed down the stairs. The halls were normally bustling at this time of morning but it seemed like everyone was outside. I slipped out the back door and saw the majority of the pack gathered outside. Kamilla seemed to be the one screaming as the guards held her in their grasp. Kaine stood at the head of this event with his father. Abel and Kamilla were both being secured by the guards. "You can't do this? Over that stupid whelp?! She's nobody! I'm the Alpha's son! Dad! You can't." Abel said between clenched teeth. Alpha Bryce had absolutely no emotion on his face. That was
I was a complete nervous wreck. I didn't want to see my mother this soon. The emotional and physical scars that I received from that woman were still fresh in my mind. I wanted nothing to do with her. Though a lot of what Kaine said made sense. It seemed that Reyna and Kaine were in agreement on that much. I needed to understand the truth about my past, in order to understand how to carve my future. This information not only impacted me, but my brother as well. It was his life too. I sighed, I had stood underneath the streams of water in the shower until it had basically ran cold. I hated my life before so much, and my mother being near made me feel as if that part of my life would never erase. I would continue be drew back to that sorry excuse for a mother figure. Kaine drew my attention towards him as he cleared his throat. He was standing just outside of the shower with a warm towel in his waiting hands. His lustful stare towards me did not escape my notice. "While I would love to
Abel's POV I couldn't believe this bullshit. I was exiled because of her? My own father renounced me because of that worthless whelp! She was nothing! She was hot, sure. Valeria is a hot piece of ass, that's understandable. Having a mate was more than that though. Someone with some standing in the pack. Valeria's mother was a drunk, and an abusive piece of shit at that. She was the laughing stock of the entire pack. There was absolutely nothing special about her beyond her looks. Pretty to look at, but mediocre in terms of strength. I haven't seen her wolf, but I can sense enough to know she sure ain't the strongest of the pack. She's undiciplined, and she could use a lesson in manners. She wouldn't make a strong Luna and that was what mattered right? Someone you'd be proud to have at your side. I'm not saying my choice in mate was the best either, but her family had power. She has strong genes, and she wasn't half bad to look at. Valeria is nothing! I don't understand how treating h
Kaine's POV There was so much to worry about these days. I enjoyed my mate, she called to me like no other. Her very scent, entranced my senses and made me hard just thinking about her. However, all these recent events. I was perfectly happy to accept her as she was but all this fated Guardian wolf, and being tied to Alpha Royalty it was.. a lot to take on. Clearly, prior to having a mate was much easier for me. The days of being to fuck and do as I wanted was easier. I can't bring myself to be unfaithful to my mate, and being so gentle and patient with my little mate was wearing on my nerves. I was on edge, with everything going on I was struggling to be the next great alpha. I want to be good for Valeria, but old habits die hard and with Abel gone I had nothing to hurl my internal rage at. My Alpha Ceremony was the day after tomorrow. There were so many things going on at once, and I know that Valeria must also be feeling a bit overwhelmed by everything. She hasn't had much intere
Even with the noise canceling ear muffs, Kaine still held his ears as I let forth a screeching howl that shattered all four of the tempered glass targets that Seraphine had set up. Reyna was proud of her work, pouncing around in my head with a strut. She was quite full of herself with that show of power. I looked back towards Kaine, as he slipped the headphones off and the look on his face was one of shock, and admiration. "That's some ability." He said softly, and made his way towards me. He pulled me in and kissed the top of my forehead. "I fear that one day you won't even need me to protect you. What will I do then?" Kaine asked with a chuckle. I grinned towards him. "I suppose protect the members of your flock. You're fixing to be Alpha after all." I told him. Kaine ruffled the top of my hair. "Son." Kaine and I both turned to look towards the Alpha as he made his way onto the field. How long had he been watching? It made me wonder. "Kaine, you and Valeria need to come with me."
Today was the day of the Alpha Ascension ceremony. I was finishing up pinning my hair, when I heard Kaine behind me. I could see him looking about me hungrily from his reflection in my vanity mirror. I set the curls in my hair with some light hairspray and finished my look by applying a thin layer of lipgloss and popping my lips. I was already dressed, I only needed to slip on my matching heels. Kaine looked very handsome in his well tailored suit. He looked like something spun out of one of those trashy billionaire stories. He made me ache in places, and all I wanted to do was tear that perfect looking suit off of him and force him to take me, though I resisted the urge. "You look hot as hell." He whispered in one of my ears as I stood to make my way to the closet. I retreived my shoes, attempting not to blush with his words. "I will escort you down, this is a day for us too. I'm gonna become Alpha and soon after, you'll be my Luna. Unless you're having second thoughts?" Kaine said
Kaine's POVI was the Alpha now. Every doubt I had in my mind about the things going on, were irrelevant. I was the Alpha, I had to lead my people, take care of my pack and most of all.. Protect my mate. Valeria grew stronger every fucking day, but I worried about her. That white wolf... There were stories about the white wolves. Reya is a Guardian Wolf.. and I have no doubts that Valeria will be strong. However, I don't want her to have to be strong because of my failure to protect her. I knew that Valeria was strong from the first moment I scented her. That aura.. her inner strength. I knew from the first moment that sure as hell wasn't some weak Omega. Wolves always want a strong wolf to be their mate, I couldn't have picked better for a strong Luna to stand at my side. I just worried. If Abel knew what she was, would he have rejected her like he did? Or would I had to have shared my precious little mate with that asshole of a brother of mine? The run was off in full swing. There
Abel's POV The bitch I had moaning underneath me was doing little to subdue the urges I had burning inside me. I could barely get off with Kamilla anymore. I was truly getting bored with her. She was annoying, only cared about money, and kept on telling me how much she loved me. Honestly, I can't stand her, but I needed a Luna back then, and since she was banished along with me. I had originally felt some guilt, like that meant that I needed to take care of her, but I was so tired of her lately that I fantasized about killing her. The Alpha Summit had been the perfect opportunity for an ambush. I took a handful of warriors with me, told King Ivan of my plans and even rigged explosions in the primary locations. It was a flawless plan, the Alphas should've been dealt with in one go. It wasn't expected that most of them would be gathered outside, and everything after that went to shit in a hurry. "Abel! Harder baby.." Kamilla was whimpering. I just realized that I had slowed down. Her
"What's the death toll?" My father commanded as I entered the War room behind Kaine. There were several people gathered around the large table. Torren looked like he was about to say something when one of the other men spoke up. "A total of thirteen dead from the Alpha Summit. Sixteen from the planned attacks across the different packs prior. A total of Twenty Nine needless deaths. All Alphas are accounted for, four dead Lunas and a few deaths related to betas and their mates. From the Summit and a few others." Another man spoke. "What's the plan moving forward?" Torren asked. "That's what we're here to decide. I think the best course of action is to split our warriors into three sections. We split up the groups into arrangements of lycans, wolves, panthers, and bears. We fortify our center group right through the middle with the strongest we have. Lycans should take the front line followed by groups of Panthers, bears, and Wolves. They will be the center of attention and likely the
"Alright, Valeria. There are three battle formations of a Lycan." Valeria tilted her head to the side, confused. "The first form is mostly what you use now. The usual shifter type. Then there's a second form. A larger wolf that will dwarf the size of a normal shifter. The final form is called the Royal Lycan form. A werebeast. The mixture of humanoid and Wolf. This form is only to be used in dire situations, and hard to control. The duration you spend in the Royal Lycan form can make a difference in battle, that's true. However, it's also unstable, unpredictable, and more feral than a normal Lycan energy can sustain. The human host can completely lose their humanity and find themselves unable to shift back. I will show you all three forms, but be wary that the third form is only to be used when your life is at stake." My father insisted. I watched him shift, like Reya... His wolf was mostly solid white with the exception of dark paws. The second form was just a beefed up version of t
The ride to my father's kingdom was a long one. I spent most of the time looking out of the window and trying to get the sight of so much blood, destruction and death out of my mind. It was hard not to close my eyes and see those girls lying there. I didn't want to admit it, but the situation had me a bit shaken up. Zayden sat in the back seat, continuously fussing over Winter. It's not that I could blame him. There wasn't that much of an age difference between me and my brother. Zayden was actually only a couple of months older than me. Shifters had short pregnancies, but I had heard that Lycan births came by even more quickly. He found his mate at sixteen and married her barely a year and a half later. I loved Winter, but I often worried for Zayden's state of mind, going from being a kid, to being a mate, to being a husband. It had to be a lot. Behind us, there was a row of several cars. They were all headed in the same direction, to the Kingdom of the Southern territory. It took a
Get up girl! We are under attack! So Sleepy... Valeria, the wolves are closing in. Get up! "Valeria!" Kaine's voice woke me from my dazed state. My eyes fluttered open and I was able to take in the sight of Kaine leaning over me. I took his hand as he helped me to my feet. There was cuts and scratches along his arms, no doubt from the falling glass. "What happened?" I heard myself ask and Kaine was in the process of ripping off his jacket. "There's little time to explain. We're under attack. The explosion, I suspect if we hadn't called for a recess that all the Alphas would be dead. We have enemies coming from the west end of the lot. Us Alpha's will handle this squirmish. Since you don't seem to be all that injured, I need you to go inside the conference room and look for the surviving Lunas and help all you can." The realization suddenly hit me, and my legs suddenly started moving on their own. Winter! I heard Kaine let out a roar as his clothing shredded and the snapping of wol
The meeting room was filled with different Alphas, most of them male. However, there were a few females situated inside. The seating arrangements consisted of long tables facing a smaller table up front with most of the occupants sitting behind these long tables and facing towards the shorter table at the front of the room. The three Lycan Kings took their seat along that row. Kaine kissed my cheek and took his seat at the end of one of the other rows, while Zayden and I were situated at the end of the main table. Ulric stood first. "We will now commence the meeting of the Alpha Summit. We will handle small trivial matters first. If you'd like to approach with your concerns, we will address those first. After we finish with these matters we will get into the larger more pressing matters. Who would like to go first?" A woman stood first. She was covered with multiple tattoos, She had long dark hair, but had half of it shaved. The hair fell and covered one of her eyes. I could smell th
I walked inside the hotel room in the company of my mate, Zayden and his mate, and my father. We walked to the hotel desk. I have discovered that this place was most likely owned and operated by shifters as well. We took an elevator upstairs as the warriors packed along our things. Kaine had booked a large suite for the five in our party, and another suite specifically for his warriors. I saw other shifters, in the hallway as we headed to our room. Alphas and Luna's. Some spoke casually with Kaine as if they were on familiar terms. He was polite and spoke to them as if they had been friends for years. Once we had are things placed for our stay and all of the room arrangements were taken care of, we headed back down. There were a few meeting rooms. Zayden and Kaine led me and Winter to a party room that was filled with women. They were talking amongst each other and nibbling on snacks and drinking tea. Most of them wore expensive attire. The room grew silent as we made our entrance. A
It was here, the day we leave our pack for the Summit. It's odd really, I've never existed outside of this pack, nor had adventured outside of it, as far back as I could remember anyway. I got a few extra hours in with Seraphine training. Showered, and changed into a a sleek black mini dress with a ruffled lace skirting. I matched it with a pair of matching tights and a pair of black boots. I threw my hair up into a high pony, applied a thin layer of makeup and headed outside. Apparently, no one attended an Alpha Summit without a small group of warriors behind them. Trouble could happen anywhere and arrive at anytime. It could be a friend or a new foe, and my father and Kaine had laid out a contingency plan just in case things went sideways. I headed out the front door of the packhouse to at least six large black SUVs in attendance. "I have my six warriors with me, Kaine has filled in the rest. The Alpha and Beta with their prospective mates are coming." My father filled me in, he mu
I slept like a rock after last night's festivities. I was still naked under the sheets with Kaine's arm draped protively around my waist. I felt icky, so I carefully removed his arm from me and slid out of the bed. I quietly tip-toed my way to the bathroom and started the hot water. I took my time in the shower, last night's events playing over in my head. I became the Luna of my pack. Kaine was now my mate and the Alpha to my Luna. There were a lot of responsibilities on my shoulders, not to mention everything going on with these old beliefs and my wolf. I was thankful to the people that openly accepted me, but I was worried about those who didn't. There could be danger around every corner so treading lightly was my best bet. I slipped out of the shower and finished getting ready. I threw on some comfortable clothes and threw my hair up into a messy bun. I slipped out of the room after I finished tying my shoes. I expected to see my father downstairs in the breakfast hall. We hadn't
