Suddenly the bell rang, signaling the end of the class and breaking the walls of the small world that Varys had built around himself and Hope.
Just as the loud, screaming voice of the bell broke through Hope's stupor, she snapped out of the spell that Varys had suddenly casted on her. Her closed eyes snapped open as she stared in those green, captivating eyes.
The class had started to get empty. Students were leaving and the loud shuffling and quick, runny steps of them collided Hope and Varys with each other.
"Come with me." Varys extended his open palm towards her.
"Where?" she asked, confusion was lacing her words.
"Do you have another cl
Two Months LaterHope and Varys had started coming close to each other. Unknowingly a pattern, a schedule had been set among them. Varys came to pick her up almost every day along with Hector. Hector, for some unknown reason had not recieved his license. And because of that he had to tag along with Varys. And as Hope did not have a car and Stella's classes started an hour earlier than her, she only had two options left, either ride with Hector and Varys, or take the bus.She had insisted on the second option. She did not want to become a burden on them in the name of friendship but every time she brought up the topic, both Varys and Hector started blabbering things that did not make any sense to her but definitely made clear that she was riding with them until she is fucking alive. The class had ended and now she was just waiting for Varys and Hector to meet in the parking lot. It had been a month she had joined college and not even a day had gone
"And what did you say?" Varys asked gently."I.. um. Accepted it?" Hope flinched a little after saying the words. Even though she was not doing anything wrong and definitely was not cheating on anyone, it kind of felt wrong.Varys, who most of the time remained chill and calm around her suddenly clenched his jaw tight in anger."What exactly do you think we are doing with each other, Hope?" He asked in a soft voice that betrayed the hidden anger behind his words.Hope stared into his eyes with barely contained emotions. She honestly did not know the answer to that. It felt like they were friends, but the closeness behind that friendship screamed more than friends.
The next day rolled around and Hope found herself bedridden, unable to move with a harsh cough gripping her chest and nasty fever burning her whole body. There was obviously no option of going to the college since she had caught the flu for walking too long under the sun and because of the fatigue it had caused. She remembered that at night her phone had kept ringing with calls and messages but without looking at the screen she had turned off the phone and avoided everything that bounded her to the outer world. Her mood was ruined so badly and she did not think she could talk to anybody without snapping in anger. She had had dinner with her parents and then after coming back to the room, she had fallen asleep like the dead. Her feet had burn marks and cuts from the sandals that she had successfully hidden from her par
Before Varys could catch up to her she turned around and ran. Not actually run, of course, otherwise he would get suspicious. She just wanted to get away from him without letting him get a hint of what she was feeling. She was still angry, alright! And she did not know how to express her anger except like this. Running away? Heck yeah. She could run from him until he stops chasing her. It is going to hurt for some time for sure but whatever. She needed him out of her sight. She hurriedly passes between the groups of students, pushed them aside if she had to like a brat and immediately started going towards her class. It had already started and she just wanted to reach there before the professor did to avoid awkward confrontation like her firs
As soon as the professor's voice boomed inside the whole classroom, Hope knew there was no chance in hell a sorry was going to make the professor let her stay in the class. She was not paying attention anyway and Varys was not going to stop talking for sure. So it was either one and a half hour's torture in this classroom or the chance of getting the hell out of here. She may be bad at some things, but she was not an idiot.Snathing the chance, she immediately collected her stuff and got the hell out of that classroom with long strides. She felt Varys following her close behind but she did not wait around for him. She was able to get away as far as to the corridors when Varys caught up to her and snatched her to himself by grabbing her arm,
Bidding goodbye to Shawn, Hope headed to home. Fortunately she had now learned to always keep her wallet and phone on her. The hard way, that is.She had come to stand on the bus stand when her phone chimed with a message. It was from Shawn asking her to be ready by six o'clock in a sophisticated dress as he will be wearing a black tux.Tux? Fancy party it seemed.Sighing, she quickly typed down her address and sent it to Shawn in case she forgot to do so later. In the next five minutes the bus came and climbed in. It were three pm right now. She had three hours to get ready.*****After getting home and gobbling down the lunch she rushed to take a bath. She needed to shave her legs, do some girly thingies, and then choose a dress and matching shoes to go with.Once she was done showering she came out and started searching for the dress. It took her almost two hours in the bathrroom only. Hoping for a quick dressup, she found a pretty, spark
Hope could not believe her eyes upon seeing Varys in the party. What was he even doing here? This was a party for extremely rich people. And Varys was not supposed to be here! Her heart was beating against her chest like a jackhammer, the sweat making its way down to her temple despite of being in the fully air conditioned hall. When his furious gaze became too harsh for her to bear, and the shock of seeing him here passed, making her realize that it was no dream and she was seeing him in front of her eyes for real, she averted her gaze. And in that exact moment she realized that Shawn's lips were still pressed upon hers. She immediately pulled back, taken aback and surprised. Shawn was smiling down at her as their body still moved to the rhythm but she came to a standstill,"Why did you do that?!" she asked, feeling a strong urge to run away from there but holding her ground."Because I like you!" Shawn was still smiling, his one hand
Hope woke up to the blinding light and white walls. Everything felt surreal to her. Was she even alive or was this heaven? Her eyes blinked a couple of times before managing to open fully. Everything around her was white and too shiny. There was a complete silence in her ears right before the loud chatter patter of people and things started to enter through her brain like a loud crash.Groaning, she slipped up the bed and tried to find someone. Well, good thing she figured out that this was not heaven that she was lying in, this was a freaking hospital. She had barely registered it through her head, trying to figure out how she ended up here and then remembering being at the party and things that happened with Varys when the door to her room opened and Varys walked in. He was still wearing the same clothes th
"Oh my God," Hope gasped and buried her face in Vary's shoulder, grimacing, "Stella is drunk. Not a good sign."Turning her head to the side she peeked a look at a completely drunk, wobbly Stella rolling her finger around the tie that Max was wearing mumbling something while winking at him, trying so terribly to be flirtatious while Max put a fist over his mouth, clearly trying to stifle his laughter. She felt Varys' shou
Hope pushed against his chest. "We're in the hospital," she hissed as she stared at the door.Varys smirked and pulled out a key. "And I have enough money to own this place." He slipped out of bed and locked it. "Better?" he challenged.
Hope woke up to the rays of sunshine warming her face through the blinds. Her head still pounded, but at least she didn't feel like she was fighting to stay alive. Varys was asleep at the foot of her bed, his arms used as pillows as he gently snored. With his hair all messed up, he went from the hot mafia boss to the cute boyfriend from so long ago. Well, cute soon-to-be-husband now.She didn't want to wake him so she forced her body to calm itself as much as possible as she just watched him sleep. The day before's proceedings was a huge nightmare by this point and she had problems figuring out
Varys sat beside the bed as a chorus of beeps drove him insane. But as much as he hated them, those beeps meant Hope was alive. She was still fighting. The doctor looked at him and nodded. "She'll be fine, she's had a tough experience, and I worry about the trauma it might have mentally caused her more than her health. The poison has been counteracted."The rock that had been crushing his chest slowly dissolved. "And your other patient?"
Varys.Varys had made it back to her, though her uncle wasn't with him. She bit back another cry as the man tightened his hold on her hair. At least it wasn't her neck this time. He lifted her by it until her toes scraped the floor. "How about it, Varys?" he demanded as he shook her. "Drop your gun, or I'm going to bash her brains in."Hope had no doubt he'd be true to this word. This man had went
The mansion was dark when he got back. None of his men remained. Varys' deep scowl only increased. Every step he took the worry inside him just continued to grow. How had things gotten this corrupted in his organization? He had more men than Ethan, so why was it full of more traitors?"Varys?" whispered a voice up ahead. "Is that you?" he recognized the voice, but he was in considerably worse shape than when he'd left him.
Hope was in the strange guard's hold as the doctor hovered over Max. "Here, take these, you'll feel better in no time."Max's eyes were rolling by this point, but he listened to the words. He opened his mouth and the strange pills vanished within. He swallowed and Hope winced. "What did you give him?" she demanded as she struggled to break free. The man's grip was like an iron vice. Nothing she did was budging him, and the way he stared at her as if she didn't exist. It gave her the creeps.
"Hey, Boss?"Varys didn't have to look over. "I know," he replied as he pushed harder on the thin pedal of the gas. "We've been tricked.""I'll take responsibility. I never thought we'd have so many traitors in the family."
"Are those wraps getting bloodier?" Hope questioned as she probed Max's side. The man grit his teeth. "Damn it, Hope, stop prodding me, I'm not a piece of meat here, not for you anyway."
