Chris’s POV I can’t keep the smile off of my face. From the moment that Rae walked out into the open, my smile has been plastered on my face. I am finally complete. My soul is complete. She is radiatingly beautiful and I’m not sure that she knows it. I grab her around her waist, yanking her towards me, and kiss her on top of the head. “Are you ready to go greet the Kingdom, love?” I whisper. She’s shaking and I a just assume that she’s cold until I notice where she’s staring. I glance in the direction and notice Rachael. How could I be so stupid to forget about her. I don’t like the look that she is giving Rae. “Come, love. People are waiting.” Finally pulling her eyes off of my ex, she offers me a shaky smile. “You’re right. Let’s go, babe.” Grabbing her hand, I help her walk down the hastily made steps. I don’t want her to injure herself the day we get married. I want to swoop her in my arms, and carry her, but I don’t think that will be too appreciated. She stumbles slightly I
Chris’s POV I take Rae’s hands and swear starts to form on my hands. I’m nervous and excited. I know that she is too because I can feel her clammy palms. We walk into her house and, all of a sudden, paper confetti is thrown at us. “Congratulations!” Selene yells out. I’m grateful to have her support, even though we are in a strange situation. “Thank you, Mother.” I tease. She blushes. “Oh, that just sounds..” she pauses, “that sounds lovely.” She manages to squeak out. “Well it’s true, Mama.” Rae says. “Yes, it is.” She says, ushering Rae over to the table. “Now, I know the party is over but I made some food for the two of you.” She glances back at me and winks. Okay, now I’m the one blushing. That isn’t something that you think your mother in law would be excited about. “Somehow, I doubt the two of you will have the time to make something healthy so I made enough for the next three days.” Rae’s adorable face blushes scarlet. To hide her embarrassment, she wraps her mother up i
Rae’s POV These last few days have left me exhausted. We barely left our bedroom in the castle. It seems that we just could not get enough of each other. However, Chris was woken up by the regent. He apparently has work to do. Me, on the otherhand, I have nothing to do. So, I’m going to take advantage of the bathroom. A nice soak sounds like the best idea to me. I’m watching Chris get dressed. His lean, muscular body, is such a tempting sight that I can’t seem to keep my eyes off of him. ‘I think he’s teasing us.’ I tell Serenity. She snorts her agreement. ‘Since he’s teasing us, maybe we should do the same.’ I suggest. ‘Most definitely, you should.’ She agrees. ‘You, humans make me laugh. If it were me, I’d just jump him.’ She laughs. She pauses for a few moments. ‘Sadly, he’s not wolf so I will never be able to run with him.’ She sighs. I laugh at the image that I have. ‘I don’t know. Maybe he can ride us?’ I tease. Well, it was a tease but I feel her excitement. ‘Really, Sereni
Rae’s POV “Toby! Wait! Please!” I holler out. Serenity is whining in my head. Her Alpha just took off on her. I’m left confused. I start to collapse as he ignores me. Chris grabs me before I can fall and I turn into his arms. “I don’t understand what’s happening, Chris.” He doesn’t respond. He just pulls me into his arms. I feel as if my heart has broken. I am seeing every thing that Toby and I have ever done together flash through my mind. ‘Serenity, I don’t understand. Please, help me. Why do I feel so broken?’ ‘He’s our mate, Raleigh. The other tie that you felt. It’s been him all along.’ She says. ‘Why would he leave me like that? Why would he just run? I know that he feels it? His wolf wouldn’t even speak to me.’ She cries. I feel Chris carrying me and I can’t seem to care. I just want to know what is going on. I glance up to see if I can get a read on him but his face is closed off. I guess that his mind is closed off as well because I can’t into his head. I sigh, closing my
Toby’s POVSitting across from Ryan, with my heart aching, all I can think about is Rae. Why can’t I get her off of my mind even while I am sitting here drunk. It takes a lot to get us drunk so I must’ve drank a lot more than I remember. Her face, as she saw me, flashes in front of my eyes. Her smile, the way her hair seemed to shine as she ran towards me, and the genuine happiness that I felt from her plagues my mind.“Are you going to tell me what happened?” Ryan asks, as I throw another shot back.I look around the empty club. I open my mouth to say something but all that comes out is, “Nope.”I grabs the glass from my hands. “What happened, Toby?” He presses.Sighing, no longer having a reason to feign having something to do, and I explain everything to him. My heart aches but it’s not for the reason that you would think. I’m not mad at her. I’m not jealous of Chris, well maybe a little, I’m just sad because I don’t understand. Why does she have two? Where does that leave me now t
Two days. Two days is how long I’ve stayed here at Ryan’s. I need to go home. I tried to stop thinking about Rae but I couldn’t. No matter what I did, or how busy I was, I could not keep her off of my mind. So, here I am packing up the few clothes that I bought while I was here. Even though I was initiated as Alpha, my father took care of the pack while I was gone. I’ll sneak back into the pack, and get caught up on some things, before I make my way to Rae. As much as Cian and I long to see her, I’m afraid that I will walk right into her and Chris snuggling together. A knock sounded on my door and I turned to see Ryan standing in the door. “Hey, what’s up?” I ask. “You want a ride to the border?” He asks. I think about it for a second. ‘I would like to run.’ Cian says. ‘I really need to blow off some steam. I know that mother said that we need to go back to Rae but it doesn’t seem fair. I mean, what if Chris doesn’t want to share her? What if we can’t actually share her? Or worse,
Chris’s POV Rae is twirling around in the yard, enjoying the warmth of the sun, when I feel a sudden presence come up behind me. I spin around and see Toby coming at me. I glance at Rae, to ensure that she doesn’t see us, and I walk towards Toby. I brace for the fight that I know is coming. I’ve heard the rumors and it hurts that she’s the target. I’m not sorry for what I’ve done. I love Rae and, according to her wolf, I am her mate. I get to have her, too. I don’t know what I will do if she decides to leave, though. The other thing that has been plaguing me, lately, is that I’ve been feeling a presence around us. There is no one ever there but it feels threatening. I am hoping to be able to talk to Toby about it, so he can help guard her but it doesn’t look like that is what he wants to do right now. “I’m not sure if I should punch you in the face right now or just walk off with her.” Toby roars at me. I raise my hands up in surrender. “Or, we could do neither of those things and
Rae’s POV I watch as Chris walks off, trying to distract myself from my nerves, and rub the grass off of my legs. My heart is racing so fast that I am having a hard time breathing. I think that I might actually have a heart attack. Serenity snorts. ‘Toby is our mate. Stop being such a chicken.’ She says. ‘I’m afraid to even look at him.’ I admit. ‘He’s not going to hurt you, sweetie. His wolf loves us.’ ‘How do you know that?’ I ask, curious. Serenity’s laugh should embarrass me but it eases my mind instead. ‘We can talk to each other when we want.’ My eyes widen. ‘What? How?’ ‘The same way that we can talk to you.’ A male voice intervenes. My heart stops, and I glance up at Toby. He is looking at me with a shy but sexy smirk. ‘Are you listening in to my conversation?’ I ask him. I can see the color rising into his cheek. He looks kind of cute blushing like that. ‘You were sort of broadcasting. Or, maybe your wolf was.’ He shrugs. “Why are we talking in our heads, though? We
