Closing the brown coloured french office door against me, I could feel the atmosphere in the area change and knowing fully well that I was the one who ultered it, I walked confidently past the set of people who came to apply for the same job.I couldn't help but notice the irritation on their faces when they noticed how happy and cheerful I was. How wouldn't I be happy?I had a feeling I would get the job of being Gyro's driver. There was just this unexplainable happiness brewing up in my chest underneath all the nervousness and right there as I was undergoing that evaluation test, I just knew I would get it.Mumurings flew in the air, dissatisfaction seizing the atmosphere the moment I walked out."We've been here for more than an hour, when is it going to be our turn?" A masculine voice grumbled, spurring up mild uproar as everyone began concuring to his statement."Exactly. Did you all bring us here just to stand and watch like spectators? What sort of interview is this!?" An angrier voice sharply added."Get the fuck out of there and let us go through!" Someone yelled from within the crowd.I shook my head at how unprofessional they were acting and rolled my eyes, moving some metres away from the door."I don't know anything that is going on there but when I get the order to let you all in, I will. Please stop shouting and raising your voices. It will diminish your chances of even getting called in" chided the lady who had called me inside earlier. Her sentence made me pivot back, my orbs holding hers as she smiled softly at me which got me feeling a tad bit awkward; I know it was part of the norms of his profession to be nice but his smile was too informal. I shrugged the thoughts off and returned her smile with mine. There was no way I was letting any thing ruin or intrude my thoughts rather than this victorious spirit I could feel within me."Have a nice day ma'am" She mouthed at me with that same soft smile and cheerful eyes."Thank you" I responded cheerfully while struggling to contain this profound joy inside of me.Just as I proceeded to step out of the tall glass building, hugely built up men whom I suspected to be bodyguards stepped into the area where the multitude of people were indignantly raising their voices to complain about being delayed and left in the dark about the interview were all gathered in."I'm sorry to inform you all that there will be no interviews for now, we apologize for the delay, but the right candidate for the job has already been selected, you can now go home, thank you." said one of them sharply with no emotion on his face before he made a swift move exiting the room. The uproar became louder, mumurings seized the atmosphere and the ambience was set to livid as different eyes shot me murderous and baleful orbs. Why the fuck were they looking at me? Was I the cause of the interview being brought to an abrupt halt? What the hell is wrong with this people?""So that girl got the job? I don't think she even did much or said much apart from sucking her way to the top. I mean she went in and came out so quickly and others stayed for a longer period" scoffed one of the ladies, her raging orbs narrowing at my direction."She must have probably bribed her way into getting that job. Didn't you see how she dressed like? Like one of those rich brats who can just make their way into anything because of their wealth" added a young male distastefully."You people are being so unfair! What the fuck! How can you all just abruptly end the interview without even checking others out first?!" A man yelled.Their heated stares were all settled on me but I didn't feel intimidated. I was ready to match up to their scoffs and rude remarks, so I placed a smirk, sitting it right on top my face."What does the girl have that we don't even have! I thought y'all were supposed to be sensible intellectuals?!" A pained voice yelled."Hey! I wasn't the one who asked them to bring the interview to a halt. And I don't even know who the lucky one will be so you all should better stop pointing your damn disgusting fingers my way. After all you all are acting so unprofessional. If I were to be miss Gyro, none of you would get the job. Bitches." I murmured the last part out but my voice was acrimonious at all of them. It seemed I had tipped them all off the edge as their yellings grew louder. I quickly slipped past them and briskly made for the gates of the building before their lot would attempt mobbing me because of a job that'd become useless after how Gyro would fall soon.I was eager to reach out to Megan and inform her about what happened.I could still hear the livid rage of the crowd, although it was now faint. I stole a glance at what was happening and saw that security guards were dispersing them.I sighed a breath of relief. It was such a good thing that the guard made that announcement right after I had stepped out.Now I knew competition had been reduced and that also, my chances of winning were really high. I spent little time in there, well practically because the evaluation officer didn't bother to interview me that much. She just interviewed a few things about me, undertook the evaluation test before cheerfully telling me I could go.I dug my hands in my pocket and reached for my phone. I immediately dialed Megan's number with caged breaths. I stared at my phone waiting for Megan to pick up and she did immediately."Hello Coco, are you still at the interview center?" she asked immediately she picked."Yes I am, the craziest thing just happened today" I said eager to spill out the news."what?" She asked. With so much excitement in my voice, I chirped "Immedately I came out of the building, a guard announced that the best candidate had been picked and the interview had been closed. Now my chances of getting the position is even higher!""Why are you screaming in excitement? This shouldn't excite you, not even in the least. You got the job plus you got most of the marks too" Megan said without an atom of excitement in her voice."Really?! I am so happy. I actually made it!" I voiced out, my happiness written all over my face.I had a feeling Megan would have been informed if I passed or not but I would have been damn disappointed if I couldn't pass the evaluation test on my own.I was the best undercover detective of 'Splash a star' and it meant I had to always meet up to the task with or without Megan's help given the type of work I was in.'Splash a star' is a very ruthless and gossip related magazine company that exposes the secret lives of celebrities and their hidden activities but nevertheless nobody knew the people who actually went around these celebrities to uncover secrets about them.Nobody knew I was the leading role in bringing out the dirty linens of the celebrities to the public, although I was very popular in this industry line, which is why I have to be very smart in whatever I do."You're going to uncover some mysteries concerning Gyro. You know I suspect she is into something fishy with that wealthy business oil tycoon guy that she has always introduced as a friend of hers. I need to know what those two devils are really cooking up behind the camera" Megan said, reminding me of the things she wanted me to uncover.I took a serious mental note of it all as I listened to her speak over the phone, as if I had never heard it before when in actuality, I had."Make no mistake Coco, I don't want you getting attached to her or becoming emotionally close to that woman. In this job, we keep our emotions aside" She warned strictly, sternly reminding me of our job code like I was just new to this.."Ugh, Megan. I know all this already, that's why I'm your top undercover agent and even won an award for that last year that I'm confident I'll win yet again. Asides almost messing up with Janice's case, there has been no reason for you to complain." I said confidently, slightly triggered that she was reminding me of our basic job etiquettes like I was a newbie."Exactly. You almost blew your cover then and put Splash a star in a very hazardous position. You know a lot of things can go wrong, you just have to be careful." Megan added. That was the only time I almost blew my undercover identity and I remember it clearly; I had been sent by Megan to work as a secretary for the popular heart throb pop star, Janice Cameron and at the heat of it all, I got so emotionally drawn towards her that I almost gave out my identity. But then I found out she was a hardened cheat and playboy. It pulled me back on track. Thinking back on it now, I dreaded the thought of what would have happened if my identity had been exposed then."Yes I know, I'm going to do my best to uncover her secrets, giving Splash a star evidences that would expose the skeletons in her closet to the whole world" I said realizing it's a serious job and not a makeover party."Ok then" Megan concluded right before hanging up.At once I ambled outside the premises and stopped a cab. I shambled into the cab and told the driver of my destination, he zoomed off the premises giving the car tyres enough force to raise up dust particles.~°CORVETTE°~'Another day, another dollar.'Certainly, we would all agree that it's a cliche and overused statement, but I see no other way to describe how tedious my life has been for the past eight years. Off course, it all pays off when I'm rewarded with a handsome paycheck from Megan after a job well done and this new job wasn't going to be any different. I started my job at Splash a Star right out of college and found myself moving up the ranks without much stress and problems. Even though my success in the firm was rather quick, most of my earlier years consisted of running petty errands, doing the desk work and going on assignments that my employers and seniors at the firm considered too low for agents of their calibres to embark on. Nevertheless, they still took the credit and applauds for those jobs I worked hard on. But to be honest, I think they were just being too proud and lazy to get their jobs done hence they pushed it over to the junior workers —hence, me.However, I
|•_CORVETTE_•|I woke up earlier than my usual time, don’t blame me though, I got a new job and still doing what I loved doing the most; getting dirt on people.I have no intentions of resuming late on my first day, neither do I have any intention of missing the opportunities to pick up one or two information that I could use on Gyro.I quickly had my shower and made my coffee from the coffee maker, then stepped out of the house.I arrived at the music company with a bright smile on my face, hmm… the smell of a new job.“Good morning” I chirped to the receptionist. She waved a dismissive hands at me but I ignored her and walked towards the office I was directed to as Gyro's office.“Come in” the soft voice of Gyro met my ears after I had knock.I turned the door knob and went in, keeping my composure calm.“Good morning,” I greeted and she smiled widely at me.“Good morning, erm… Coco? she trailed off, ending her sentence with a question and I rolled my eyes inwardly.“Yes, Coco.” I re
㋛︎ꨄ︎ CORVETTE ꨄ︎㋛︎In boredom I sighed, sitting on the driver seat with absolutely nothing to do. My only way of fetching out something tangible enough as an evidence to get dirt on Gyro was probably in her office. It's not even been up to a week and I'm already lacking the vigour to continue this mission, but I knew that definitely, I would fish out an evidence against Gyro. I've never failed a mission and I forbid this from being my first. Everyone at Splash a star was counting on me, the interns all looked up to me to fulfil the task at hand and teach them by example, so even though it won't be easy, I had faith that I was going to complete this job excellently. This wasn't how I imagined my first day on the job to be. It's been an hour plus since Gyro stepped out to go perform in the concert but it seems like an entire day, it definitely wouldn't be of good performance from me if I had to spend a full week here and no information about Gyro's dirty secrets was leaked out.I could
♡︎❦︎ CORVETTE ❦︎♡︎I couldn’t check the mail update from Megan due to the bad network service in the area that we where, so I made a mental note to check it out later on. However, I couldn’t shake off the thought that Megan had sent something very important. She usually conveyed information to me via calls and she texted sometimes. But she never used emails unless it’s a very serious matter and me being eager to see what it was is an understatement, I was highly anxious. Stupid network service!I started the ignition and geared the car into acceleration and began driving. It was a Black Phantom Rolls Royce — a very expensive and sophisticated vehicle and I have to admit I liked the way it felt when I drive it; I liked the feel of my feet pressing down on the gas peddle unhitched, I like the feel of smoothly maneuvering of the steering wheel and the real leather seats made my rear feel comfortable, not to mention the soft noise the tyres made plying the road. What I did not like, or rat
✔︎ꨄ︎CORVETTEꨄ︎✔︎My heart hammered loudly in my chest when the person got close to the window. I was like a deer caught in a headlight. Since the lights of the office were turned on I couldn’t hide from the person, knowing I've been seen.I moved my hands indiscreetly and I quickly hid the picture I had found. The person knocked on the window and I swallowed. I moved closer to the window and formed a brave composure like I wasn't guilty of anything.I opened the window and I smiled at the person, who I discovered soon, was one of Gyro's bodyguards.“Good evening, Miss.” He greeted. He stared at me suspiciously, but I didn’t budge, my composure was still as strong as ever.“Good evening sir” I responded smiling at him, if only he could see how my hands were shaking slightly but ‘I, Coco, has mastered the art of acting'.“Is everything okay Ma’am? I heard a scream from this place” He asked.“Oh, no, not at all. I am good” I replied.“Oh, I just thought…” He trailed off but I put my hand
☘︎☞︎︎︎CORVETTE☜︎︎︎☘︎... The next morning...Last night was indeed a breakthrough, like they say, true success only locates those who are willing to risk it to the end.Nothing good comes easy and I was very well aware of the strenuous and arduous steps I was mandated to take to ensure that my being here was not a waste and to make sure I don't fail this mission or disappoint Megan and every other person that looked up to me.Not many of them at Splash a star magazine were opportuned to take a high tensioned responsibility like this; If only they had worked harder to get a position like mine, I'm quite certain they wouldn't be under me as they are right now.My struggles weren't of milk and honey, sometimes I would think of giving up because of the gravity of the job given to me but I kept on pushing on because I was willing to win against all odds and at all costs. In front of me was Splash a Star magazine building, it was a tall glass skyscraper and it almost seemed impossible to see
༆♧︎︎︎Corvette♧︎︎︎༆I know I previously said that I didn’t have any friends and that’s true, however, I’m not about to contradict what I said earlier, but I think I do have a friend. Well, if you’d want to consider the only co-worker in Splash A Star I can actually stand and isn’t an annoying hating jealous soul or has an unlikeable character. I do make friends though; who wouldn’t want to be friends with a successful, beautiful girl like me at the first glance? However, keeping those friends is the problem for me.Sometimes, Megan sends me on jobs that includes me being situated half across the country, or continent, sometimes I’m even in a different continent as a whole. So keeping friends is a no on my part. However, Vivian is different because she’s my coworker and we have a more solid foundation to build our ‘friendship’ on. Today, Vivian was in my office and we both decided to celebrate our recent wins together now that I was back for a while since she herself just got back from
༄❁CORVETTE❁༄"Have a nice vacation" Megan said and I smiled."Thanks Megan and have a great day" I replied. With a huge sigh... a sigh of relief, I left Megan's office and shut the door behind me.Well, I guess it's time to get packing. I really need some time for myself, after all they said all work and no play makes jack a dull boy, well in this sense all work and no vacation makes Coco a dull girl."Why is she smiling like that?" I heard the voice of a colleague hit me, and I turned instinctively towards the direction."Why do you care if I am smiling or not, huh?" I asked, my voice sounding a little bit harsh but who cares, since I have stepped in here, they have been making slide remarks at me.I got no response from anyone, and the truth of the matter was that, I wasn't ready to exchange words with anyone, so I just let it slide."Are you scared of her?" I heard another whisper, which made me sigh and shook my head at how childish some adults behave."No, I'm not, I just do not w
***************** GRAND FINALE!!! ***************** CORVETTE's POV Finally in LA, I got out of the airport and boarded a taxi to the company. It felt good to be going back to Megan because had so many memories with her but I felt happier I was going there to quit such a job. I was no longer going t destroy people's life even when they haven't done anything wrong to me, I am going t find a better job, not such a heartless one. Although Megan has been good to me, I just realized what I've been doing was very wrong and it is all thanks to Nicholas for being real with me I would have been a mess. Now I was in love with my Prey and we were going to start a brand new life together and start everything afresh in a new environment. I would have never thought I would fall in love with Nicholas because he felt proud and egocentric but he isn't as I got to know him I realized he is a nice gentleman. I finally switched on my phone and almost immediately a call came in from Megan. I didn
NICHOLAS'POVI rolled to bring Coco close to me but I met an empty bed, I opened my eyes and of course didn’t find her anywhere in the room. I rolled out of the bed and went to the bathroom but Coco wasn’t there either and the bathroom doesn’t look like it has been used.I got out of the room and checked the dining hall, she want there either, I searched the kitchen, the living room but I came up with emptiness. Coco wasn’t in the house, where had she gone to? I went back into the room I might have missed when I was down here.“Coco!” I called.“Coco!” I called again but was met with nothing, I began to have this feelings in my heart, this feelings that Coco wasn’t in this house. I went back to the bed and when I touched the spot she was supposed to have slept on, it was cold and it dawned on me that Corvette Vincent’s has left me.I thought we were finally getting along just fine, I had even confessed my feelings more than once to her then why did he leave? Was I not loving enough fo
NICHOLAS's POV I was so angry and pissed off at both Corvette and Selena. I couldn't believe that Selena had the nerves to utter such rubbish to me. I can’t believe Coco didn’t inform me about what had transpired between her and Selena. I arrived at the house and the beautiful aroma of pasta wafted into my nose which drove me to the direction of the dinning hall, Coco stood there looking sexy as fuck with the apron around her. “Oh hey Nicholas, I wasn’t aware you’ve returned” she said. I placed my hands on her hips and brought her close to me, capturing her lips and she reciprocated, her hands in my hair which made a groan leave my mouth as her fingers found my scalp. “I wasn’t standing for so long, I just got here” I said. “I am starving” I said and took a seat. I began to decor the food in front of me, I wasn’t aware I was this hungry when I was Selena, I guess seeing her alone drove the hunger away. “Why didn’t you inform me about what Selena said to you? I know you both had
NICHOLAS's POV I woke up early as usual, I placed a good morning kiss on Coco’s cheeks and went into the bathroom to wash off. I returned back to still find Coco asleep on the bed and I chuckled, of course she must be exhausted after the marathon we had last night. “Babe” “Baby” I called trying to get her up from the bed. I have a meeting with Selena Jones as instructed by the director and I will be some minutes late if I don’t leave soon. “Good morning” she finally said as she yawned and stretched on the bed. “Good morning, I am really sorry for waking you up this early but we need to get going” I shot her a pleading look and it could seem she sense the urgency in my tone because she slid out of the bed and went into the bathroom. She didn’t spend much of her time in the bathroom then stepped out. She got dressed and together we both stepped out, I had already given a call to Tommy, I am sure he must be out there waiting for my arrival. We got out and just asI had predicted Tom
CORVETTE'S POV I still can’t believe this is happening. I can’t believe Nicholas is finally opening up to me. The whole night has taken a different turn, I wasn’t expecting any of this, yes, I expected the diner that was after Tommy had brought the dress and shoe and had informed me about the date but this! This was unexpected and it made my day. He was being extra ordinarily sweet and I loved and hate it at the same time. How can I break his heart now, how can break his heart now that he has finally found the heart to open up to me. I don’t think I have the mind to break up with the man that I finally found love and happiness in? A man that shows me what it meant to be respected by a spouse. Nicholas held my hands and smiled up at me, he placed little kisses on my fingers. “You know since when you said you wanted kids and marriage. I might have been against it from the onset but after that conversation with you, I pondered about it and I realized that maybe I want my own mini me
NICHOLAS' POV After Tommy had left, I headed to the restaurant with a smile on my face, our days on the island was coming to an end and I wanted to make it memorable. I demanded to see the manager and booked the restaurant for the evening, yes, I booked the restaurant. I want the restaurant to be of Coco and I alone including the staff. I could have let Tommy do the booking, I could have spoken to the manager through the phone but I wanted to do it in person. I took in a deep breath. A lot has happened, a lot has happened here and looking back to those days I smiled at the memories, starting from the first day I had seen her in the room trying to break my box and the other time I had caught her again sneaking around my room. I had hated her at first glance, I might have loved her body but I hated what she was especially when I found out she was a journalist who was more of a spy than a journalist. I guess fate has a way in playing tricks at us. And I want to relief those memorie
CORVETTE Over the week I talked to myself and pondered how leaving Nicholas for LA would be, I can't stand it if he's hurt and I wouldn't want such to happen but I have no other options or choice than to leave for good reasons, well well I can't think of hurting Nicholas but I have no choice but I will make sure to come back for you that's if it's possible. "Well I don't know what I should do I'm just so confused but the whole situation on ground because now leaving for LA I quite urgent and I gotta go but how will I do it that it won't affect my love life or relationship with Nicholas, I really do love him, urgh why do I keep repeating the same words over and over again." I said to myself perambulating up and down the whole room, I was just so restless as I was unable to calm myself down. For the first time in a long while I've found true love and I wouldn't want to do anything that would affect my love life, if I leave Nicholas would be hurt so would I, but if I don't I would miss
NICHOLAS It's high time we left?? The look on Coco's face did a big job in showing me how pissed she was but what I didn't understand was what pissed her off or who? I mean, few minutes ago before she excused herself she was okay with smiles on her face and now she returned with a frown which I doubt she could hide. I guess whatever it is, I would have to find out when we leave. Selena sashayed her way back to the table and I frowned, could it be that she got pissed because of Selena? Did Selena say something to piss her off? The look on Selena’s face was as if she had won the trophy and I might as well take a big guess that she could be the reason behind Coco’s anger but I didn’t want to make such assumptions, Coco might be pissed off based on something else and not related to Selena. "I am really sorry guys, but I guess it's time for us to return back home" I announced to the group. I didn't wait for their answer when I slipped my hands into Coco's and we both walked out. I t
CORVETTE My jaw dropped and I let out a gasp, overwhelmed by the multitude of paparazzi and reporters that stood outside. I have never been around so much people before while being the center of attraction. Panic gripped my heart and I began to tremble within yet still trying my best to not let my apprehension show and forced a smile as multiple camera lights began to flash in my face. I know I said I was ready for this before but I guess I didn’t know what exactly I was bargaining for. I had expected this at all, it’s all too much for me to handle. How does Nicholas keep his cool around so many people all the time. “Nicholas, wait.” I latched into his arm as he was about to go out of the vehicle. He paused, turning to look at me. “I’m scared.” I admitted lowly. “But just a moment ago, you said you were ready Corvette.” Nicholas reminded me and I sighed. A moment ago, I hadn’t known what I was getting into. “I know but, they’re so many. What if they start to judge you for goin
