The following morning, Damien didn't show up in the dining hall and when asking one of the servants about his whereabouts, she looked at me weirdly before answering that he left for school.

Which made me a tad sad because I have gotten used to him waiting for me. Could he still be mad about last night? I wondered, stepping into the dining hall, I lost my appetite as I glanced at the empty space usually occupied by him.

"Are you excited for the party, Rayla?" Jenna's little excited voice dragged my attention away from my sad thoughts.

"Baby, it's not a party." I informed her. "It's a charity event, meaning it for a good cause, I don't think we can refer to it as a party. Where's Mom?" I inquired looking around for any sign of her.

"I don't know." She shrugs, her eyes sparkling again once more. At that moment, she looked very much like my Mom.
