A few days passed after the confrontation with Harold in his study, and I found myself constantly on edge. Every time I passed a mirror, I could see the faint but undeniable mark on my neck—the mark that Dominic had left.

It was a reminder of our forbidden connection and a danger I couldn’t afford, not with Harold so close to uncovering the truth. I tried everything to conceal it, even resorting to layers of makeup, scarves, and high collars, but I knew the day was coming when it would be impossible to hide.
