MHOREIN's POV
I made pancakes and sausages. Once it was finished I prepared a plate, spoon and a fork. I sat and was ready to eat when someone knocked.
"Mhor!"
"Detective!" I frowned when I heard Chain and Aiden's voices.
I stood up and opened the door.
"Good morning, Honey." Chain smiled.
"Do you not want me to eat?" I sarcastically asked.
"Just eat, We'll join you." Aiden said, Smiling. Chain and Aiden helped themselves in.
"Wow." I said as I followed them. When I arrived at the kitchen they were already sitting down, Both having plates in front of them
"What are you doing here? I thought you'd call me?" I asked.
"We went to the asylum." Chain answered.
"I think a nurse likes me." Said Aiden and munched on a pancake.
"Why didn't you tell me? Plus it's 9:15 A.M." I said, Ignoring Aiden's past comment.
"We didn't interrogate anyone. We just asked who the possible suspects are. So you don't have to go through the trouble." Chain explained.
"Just eat, We'll go back to the asylum later." I said.
"Continue eating, I'm going to get dressed." I said and left them in the kitchen.
I entered the room and searched for clean pants. I sighed in frustration when I realized that I didn't have one that's clean. I looked in the drawer. I searched for leggings but failed to find any either.
"I should probably do my laundry." I said to myself.
"Ugh." I changed clothes and went out.
"Hey, you're wearing shorts?" Chain asked, One eyebrow raised.
"I don't have clean pants."
"What did you wear last night?"
"I said it's dirty." Chain rolled his eyes. I looked at the sink and kitchen table. It was already cleaned.
"Let's go." I said and took the car keys.
We entered the elevator and as it was about to close-
"Wait! Wait up!" Katherine cried. We pressed the buttons and opened the elevator.
"Thanks Mhor- Who are they?" Kath asked and looked at my two companions.
"Aiden Jake Ignacio, Miss." Aiden smiled.
"Chain Yuan Castranuevo." Chain introduced himself.
"Oh, You're Mhor's boyfriend." Chain nodded.
"What's your floor?" I asked.
"Parking lot." She replied.
"Oh, you're going somewhere?" I smiled
"Probably, Mhor." She said sarcastically.
"As I said..." I whispered.
"You have a case?"
"Probably, Kath." She laughed.
"We're here." Chain said and walked out. I followed him along with Aiden. We searched for our cars and got out of the parking lot. Aiden doesn't have a car so he had to go with Chain.
I called Chain. I put the phone in the loud speaker and put it down.
"Chain?"
"Yes?"
"Suspects?" I asked
"Uhm. Aiden, Who are they?"
"Peri Dona, Rose Quin, Steve Unison and Garry Netton." I heard Aiden say on the other line.
"We're here." I said and parked the car. I dropped the call and exited the car.
As soon as we entered the asylum, I felt the aura of the place. Typical creepy asylum that you'd see in horror movies.
"Detectives? Welcome back. You bought company. Im doctor Jay Gordon." We were greeted by a tall man with dark gray hair and a scuff.
"Actually, She's the detective." Chain explained.
"Detective Mhorein Layla Agustin." I introduced myself.
He led us to his office and offered us a seat.
"Thank you, I want to talk to the suspects about the case of-"
"Amy Marcus ... Yes we know. Wait for me here. I'll call them." He said and left us in the room.
Within a few minutes he returned with a nurses and two patients. One is smiling and one looks really, really bad.
"Peri Dona." Said one nurse.
"This is Steve Unison." Doctor Jay introduced the patient smiling.
"This is-" Someone cut him off.
"You don't need to introduce me ... Doctor. Im Garry Netton." I looked at him well. He's wearing a blue long gown while his upper body is wrapped around a tight white cloth, same as Steve Unison. Both of them were accompanied by two other asylum staffs.
"Where's the other one?" As if on cue someone knocked on the door.
"Sir, I'm sorry, One of the patients refused to eat." Said the nurse who just came in said.
"Rose Quin." She smiled.
"Detective Mhorein." I nodded.
"Is this about Amy?" Rose asked. I nodded.
"Based on my companion's questions, The four of you are the main suspects." Jay looked at me.
"Even Rose?" Peri asked.
"Why? What about Rose?" Chain asked.
"Amy's best friend, and I mean look at her. She looks so sweet." Peri snickered.
"Let's start with Garry. Why are you a suspect?"
"Amy's my ex." Our eyebrows met. Is it even legal for a patient and a medical profesional to date? Is this some kind of Joker and Harley Quinn phenomena?
"I know what you're thinking ... I cheated on her so she made it look like I was crazy." He laughed, maniacly.
"Garry ... We talked about this. The results of your heroin addiction came out positive." Jay said.
"IM NOT CRAZY!" He didn't faze the doctor but Aiden and the other staff around him was afraid.
"She should have died in my arms! Not in any of yours!" Garry shouted when the nurses picked him up. But Amy didnt die...
"Ok, Steve?" I looked at the other patient.
"No." He giggled. Aiden looked at me, confused.
"What?" My eyebrows formed a knot.
"Hm?" He laughed.
"Amy was such a bully! Good for her!" I cringed.
"Shut up!" Rose shouted. She was about to cry. My left eyebrow rose.
"Peri?"
"Well, Maybe because I courted Amy, She rejected me." That's a straight forward answer.
"Outside of the asylum, Is there anybody else?" I asked.
"None." Chain replied.
"Rose, Do you know something Amy keeps to herself?"
"I know she had a diary, But I don't know where she hides it." Rose looked up trying to stop the tears. They really do think she's dead.
"Is it okay if we get a tour of the asylum?"
"Be our guest. Lemuel." Jay said through the intercom. A nurse entered the room and approached us.
"Where does Amy mostly stay?" I asked Lemuel.
"In the child's ward." He coldly answered.
"Then we shall go there." I said.
MHOREIN's POV "Let's go." I ordered. Lemuel led the way as we followed. Lemuel stopped in front of a faded metal door. Aiden bumped into me when I suddenly stopped. "Ouch." I heard him whisper. Lemuel opened the door and a loud creaking sound echoed through the empty hall. "I'll leave you here detectives. There are staffs lurking around this area. You can call them in case of an emergency." He said. "Thank you." He nodded and left.A deadly stench made the three of us cough. "What the hell is that smell?" Aiden
MHOREIN'S POVI gave Chain a bothered look. He isn't looking at me. Aiden was too busy eating and Rose was too. I gulped.'tap tap tap'Chain looked up with his eyebrows met. He took a bite out of his burger.'scratch scratch scratch'He looked at me, confused onto why Im using a code. I looked at the bastard Jay, who was enjoying his meal. And another one.'tap tap tap'Chain's eyebrow raised. I looked at Jay and then back at him. He looked at Jay as well. I tilted my head to the side
"Get ready. We're gonna start today." He said, Voice altered by a mic on his neck tie. The room was dark, the people around his couldnt see his face. "Boss, Aren't you scared?" "Why would I be? They're just careless movie detectives who overlook things. To them this is a money game." He sipped his wine and licked his lips. He nodded. "Leave them a note this time. A little code." He ordered.MHOREIN's POV "Detective Tyler, Good Morning." I greeted him as we strode towards the entrance of the police station. We quickly entered the police station. I saw Chain on the distance and stopped infront of him, Tyler stopping as well.
MHOREIN'S POV "We better get to South's park now." He suggested. "Hm. No." He looked at me. "What do you mean?" "Names? Age?" He checked his emails. "Emerald Jackson, Gerard Way, Hank Andress, Frank Iero. All Nine years old." "They're gonna get more kids either on Mid or West-" I was cut off by another ring. "Mis
Acros is pronounced as Ak-ros. Not like across. A play with the Acrostic Cipher, Like Scarlet is for Scarlet thread used for Spider webs. ACROS' POVAs expected, They did it. They solved the crime. I watch as the detectives leave the scene with another successful case. They wouldnt have done it without my codes and tiny clues of course. Everything was planned from their ages to their names and birth months. I chuckled. "Acros." "Scarlet? Took you long enough." "So they did it huh?" "What did you expect? Of course they did." "What are you planning?" "What do you mean? You know the whole plan." "Acros
MHOREIN's POV "Mhorein, Stop." Chain held my wrist and tried to pull me away from my car. "This is an important case, Chain. We cant just ignore it" My dizziness is getting worse. "If it's that important then you shouldnt go drunk." "Im not drunk. Im just a little dizzy. I can handle myself, I promise." He looked me into the windows of my soul. "No." I tried to look back at him but I couldnt. I swear Im not drunk. "I had a couple of beers, Im not drunk." "Mhor, We both know your alcohol tolerance is shit. So shut up and stay in your apartment." Chain's phone rang. He looked at me before answering it. "Inspector, It's midnight and my wife's drunk. Plus, Th
CHAIN's POVI stared at the love of my life as she examined blood stains on the carpet, Trying to make sense of it. It's not the most romantic or lovely sight but it's her. It's the woman I want to be with for the rest of my life. She will be. I know that for a fact."Chain! Chain!" I was thinking too deep again."Are you okay, Hon?" She asked. Her eyes staring at me with worry."Yeah, Of course I am." She smiled."These blood stain are a couple of hours older than the ones we found on the stairs. ""Detective, We found blood stains on the side of the library behind multiple shelves. They were estimated to be two to three days old." I looked as my girlfriend's perfect eyebrows met. God, I wanna look at her for years and never get tired of it. Too bad... I..."CHAIN!" She snapped her fingers"Hon?" Both Mhorein and Aiden we
CHAIN's POVI stared at the letters trying to understand what was written, Or if it even meant anything. Two letters caught my attention. CM."Mhor, It's CM again." She nodded."That guy leaving the weird messages?" Aiden asked. I saw Mhorein's eyebrow's met."Yeah- wait. How'd you know?" Aiden looked at me, Confused."You told me about it? Remember?" I stared at nothing for a while. I dont remember. I was expecting this."Oh right..." I had to act like I remembered. Mhorein was looking at the floor thinking. She took out her phone and looked it and the piece of paper."Who will inherit the throne now that the blood is gone." She said after a couple of minutes."What?""That's what it says,Who will inherit the throne now that the blood is gone." I opened twitter and saw multiple tweets and
MHOREIN's POV "We're here." We pulled up outside a huge venue with all sorts of lights and decorations. The doors were again opened for us. Chain and I stepped out of the car and in the red carpet. People started whispering and staring at us in awe. We smiled when cameras flashed. "Didnt remember you were this big of a deal." I whispered to him. "Me neither." Media had it's eyes on the Castranuevo's ever since I knew Chain. It was a big gossip when Chain moved out, So now it's a bigger scoop that he's back. "Detectives- Oh sorry, sorry. Mr. Castranuevo, Ms. Agustin." Aiden winked at us when we met him at the entrance of the venue. "Shut up." Chain chuckled. We entered the place and my eyes immediately roamed around. It was gorgeous. Not to mention the fact t
CHAIN's POV "Mhor? Why are you still up?" Tonight is our last night here since tomorow is Kalyan's birthday. Since our chaos at dinner, Both me and Cooper tried to avoid each other as much as possible. Of course, A couple of purposely bumping into each other and death stares were unavoidable but nothing more than that. "Im just looking up the coordinates that they gave us." I looked at the clock, It's 1:53 A. M. "Oh my god... How did they know?" She had her hand covering her mouth, Eyes widened. "What? What did you find?" She handed me her phone. Even I got confused when I saw where it was.
CHAIN's POV "Chain, Just breathe." Mhorein has been trying to calm me down for the past few minutes. Im pretty sure Im having a panic attack thinking that Im going to be surrounded by these people again. "I cant, Mhorein." I said with my voice shaking. I gritted my teeth and glared at myself in the mirror. One, two, three more splashes of water on my face. I clenched my fist and hit it on the sink. "Chain Yuan Castranuevo." Such a stern tone but I felt my heart beat slowly going back go normal. Mhorein held both of my hands and looked me in the eye. Something about her made me feel like the fear and anger is slowly leaving my body.
CHAIN's POV I decided to roam around the resort to ease my discomfort. "Fuck!" Someone screamed when I bumped into him. "Sorry I didnt see-" "Cant you look where youre-" We stopped when we both looked up and saw each other. We stared at each other. I know him. "You?" He took his earphones off. I saw an annoyed and confused expression at the same time. "Got a problem with that, Coop?" I smirked. "Aw, Dont fucking call me that!" He cringed. "I see that dad still hasnt taught you manners. All these expensive crap on you and you still act like shit." I looked him dead in the eye. "Oh, So what are you doing here? You want
MHOREIN's POV ''You win this time... "His words echoed in my mind once again. It's been days but I still have a strong gut feeling that Mori Grey is hiding something. He has an agenda and It involves getting rid of us.I looked at the clock. It's 8:34 A.M.Chain's half sister prepared a whole week for us to stay at a hotel resort only reserved for family and close friends before the actual debut. "Hon, Are you ready?" I looked I checked both of or suitcases to make sure we didnt forget anything essential. "Yeah..." Chain wrapped his arms around me. "Thanks for coming with me, Hon." "Of course." I smiled at him. I heard my phone rang inside my clutch. It's Aiden.&nbs
MHOREIN's POV "The theatre is near the cinema." Mr. Dela Fuena said. I know that theatre. It's not too far. "Chain, Aiden. Let's go." Chain stopped me. "We cant take cases like this. We dont work for Inspector Arcilla anymore. We work under agency policies now." "Oh... They already told you." Aiden stared at the floor. "But we have to-" "I'll call the office." Chain cut me off. I cant believe he's doing this. "Chain... Dont. Please." I looked at Aiden. "I still wanna work with you guys. They dont have to know." Chain sighed when
MHOREIN's POVWe're quietly sitting at the third row of one of the rooms in a funeral home. In the middle of the hall is an ash gray porcelein jar containing the remains of Inspector George Arcilla and a huge photo of him surrounded by different types of flowers. Around us are half of the office and agency, his fsmily and friends.Including me, Chain and Aiden. Knowing Aiden for a while, I have never seen him so devastated. With dark circles under his puffy eyes, messy hair and rough facial hair. He's been assisting Inspector Arcilla's family with the wake and other arrangements. I get how he feels. Aiden had known Inspector Arcilla even before we worked together. He used to mention how the Inspector treated him like a son when he was just a trainee and before he was assigned to work with us. Aiden developed a fatherly bond with him since Aiden's father died years ago. "Would you guys w
MHOREIN's POVI sat down and looked at Chain in disbelief. I can barely proccess what's happening. This woman almost put my life in danger. If Chain didnt find me with multiple other people trailimg behind him, They couldve killed me. And now they want us to save her? The bitterness I felt in my heart rose again after all these years.I felt like her life is in my hands. Like she had mine years ago. "Mhor, Collect yourself. You need to think about this. Do we wanna be the ones to save her?" Chain asked me. "No, Chain! Of course not! I want her to be killed brutally! I want her to burn in hell!" But deep inside, I knew that if she dies and I didnt do anything to help even when I could've, I would live on to carry the burden of knowing that someone died because of me.My brows furrowed when I remembered that email.
MHOREIN's POVTwo days passed and the devastating news about Inspector Arcilla's death quickly spread around the office. We were called into the main office by Miss Prina and Lieutenant Gray Mori. "We called you here, Detectives to inform you that youre limited from now on. We've heard about the issue including CM and we decided to let other detectives handle it." I looked at them, Confused. "Since the death of Inspector Arcilla you are currently under my supervision." Lieutenant Gray said. "And Aiden, Unfortunately, Cannot work with you anymore. Aiden is now assigned to Inspector Roswell from Lezran." "Lezran?! You cant do that! That's a city away!" I objected. "Well, You signed a contract." Miss Prina looked at us.
