It’s the morning that Aolis is due to arrive back home. I’m so excited that I can barely contain myself. I make it to training but Samlael can tell I’m distracted. He smiles at me. “The Prince is coming home, today, correct?” He asks me. I smile so brightly, my face feels like it will split in two. “Yes!” He chuckles. “Go on, then. You won’t be mindful enough to spar today and I’d hate to ruin your reputation as a Guardian by defeating you over and over.” “Thanks, Samlael.” I say, reaching up to kiss his cheek. He blushes slightly before nodding. I forget, the elves aren’t touchy people. Thankfully, Samlael seems more embarrassed than angry with my actions. When I get to Araphyra, all I wanted was to lay eyes on Lily and make sure she is okay. After my nightmare last night, I just need to see her, to know she is safe. Unfortunately, everyone swarms around me, wanting to greet me as I return home. It’s been a long time. I’m not usually gone this long. However, it seems that Lily and I have the same idea. I see her rush out of the castle and she flies into my arms. It’s so much like when she was younger, her excitement at seeing me, that I just wrap my arms around her and bury my face in her hair, breathing in her vanilla scent. When I pull back, I see that something is bothering her. But I push that aside as Hera’s golden eyes press forward to greet me. I feel the grip around my heart ease when Aolis tells me that he has no intention of rejecting me. He’s always been so patient and understanding with me, but this is something different. This impacts his people too. We spend the rest of the afternoon talking about anything and everything. After eating, we move to the couch. I don’t know how I never realized that Aolis gives me his complete, undivided attention every time I speak to him. When I think back, I realize that there is almost no one else in my life that has done this. Even my parents have always had something else going on that they needed to deal with and so, while I know they love me and do listen to me, hours after starting our conversation, Aolis isn’t looking tired, he doesn’t look bored. I’m glad Lily understands why I want to wait to complete our mate bond. I was very serious when I said I intend to take my time, savoring her body. And just as I want her to share everything with me, I want to share everything with her. Faunalyn isn’t someone that I introduce to others. Many know what she is to me, but it’s not spoken. And I've never brought anyone with me to meet her. I change into something more royal, and let Lily change as well. Before we leave, I ask some of the castle's servants to move Lily’s things into my room. I take her hand, and escort her out into the courtyard in front of the castle. “She doesn’t live in the castle?” Lily asks as I guide her to the forest. “No. It’s a long story, but the short version is that after my father lost his mate, Jinelle, it took him decades to finally decide to choose a woman to birth his heir. My birth mother was chosen for her personality and gentle nature, and of course, because she agreed to be my mother in name only.”

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised about Aolis’s protectiveness, but this is his birth mother. And in truth, she didn’t do anything that would hurt me, it was just about the taste of the tea. I heard the thunder rolling away and I know that Aolis is calming down. I’m lost in Aolis’s eyes, his fingers running over my cheek when Faunalyn clears her throat, reminding us that we’re not alone. Aolis pulls his gaze away from mine. “Since you manipulated my mate, without either of our knowledge, I think we should know what your tea tastes like, Faunalyn.” I watch her jerk, almost imperceptibly. I had no idea how hard it would be to lay beside my mate all night and fight my body’s desire to take her. The mate bond is so strong and now that I know that she’s mine, all I want to do is complete the bond. When I did finally fall asleep, it was a dreamless, deep sleep. Hi Everyone! Thanks for reading Enchanting the Prince. I hope you enjoyed this second book in the Guardian's Next Generation series. I saw several of you ask if Leana and Drake would get their own book. They will, but not before Xander and Maeve get their book. Look for Spellbound in early March. This story will back up in time to show you how Maeve lost her parents and how she came to work for Beta Trevor and Gwen. As with ETP, there will be some crossover with times and events from Shattered Bonds as Spellbound will cover the war from the witch's side. 100 years later There is a price to pay when you are mated to an immortal, or near immortal. Eventually, you have to bury every member of your family. Two years later After our coronation ceremony, I had met with Illithor. Since Lorelai had put Phiren into my council seat, I had gone back and reviewed all the decisions that were made while I was away. Illithor had voted exactly as I would have. So, it wasn’t until Phiren had been put into the seat that things had started to turn. In hindsight, it was lucky that Emlyn had come to Araphyra. If she hadn’t, it may have taken too long for me to realize that Lorelai and Phiren were going against all of the Guardians, not just Lily. Cara and Rik decided to stay in Araphyra after our coronation. Since they are no longer needed to run Canyon Ridge, it gave them time to be with Lily during her pregnancy and Alpha Christopher put Rik to work, helping him to move. To say that Aolis was a proud, soon-to-be papa is an understatement. Suddenly, the floor where our bedroom is, was under construction. A nursery was being custom built. He commissioned all kinds of baby furniture from the sprites, who were more than happy to build furniture for ‘Lady Baby Princess’. Buppig grumbled because they were supposed to be making furniture for him and Hyacinth, but they put it off for our baby. In general, a leprechaun’s gestation period wouldn’t be much longer than a wolves. However, after researching the history of elf/wolf mating gestations, it appears that mine may be a bit longer than normal, six months instead of five. It was good for Lily to be with her family. They were able to see the difference in her immediately, but even I could see that she became her daddy’s girl again while she was home. It was several days before we made it back to Araphyra. As we went around to the townships, healing the land and its people, we also found others that had been imprisoned by Lorelai. While my new found power couldn’t bring back the dead, I was able to ensure that no more families lost their mates, parents or children. When we arrive in Araphyra, the atmosphere was one of celebration and happiness. Everyone surrounds us, wanting to congratulate us on Lorelai’s defeat, thanking me for eliminating the darkness in the land, and for bringing families back together.
