Chapter 5: Treacherous

I woke up early today for school, took a bath and got ready for school. This time, I wore a creamy white and elegant headband then I went and rode the train.

My eyes instantly searched for Henry but I couldn't find him anywhere, maybe I was a bit earlier than usual or maybe he's just late...?

After the train ride, I sighed as I walked a few steps towards our school.

I closed my eyes as I walked, trying to feel the wind as it touched my skin, suddenly, as I opened my eyes... A bottle hit me straight in the back of my head.

"Hey!" I complained, "That seriously hurts."

"Sorry!" He shouted playfully, I couldn't see his face since he was running away fast and all I could see was his back.

The principal went near me, exhausted, "That damn Kou, did you see where he went?"

I paused for a while... his name is Kou? Is it the same person from the convenience store yesterday?

"Ah, sorry I didn't saw where." I replied and curiously asked, "Ah by chance, who's Kou? Is he a student here or a transfer?"

"Ah right, you're new here, I forgot. Anyways, be careful of those two." Our principal continued, "Especially that Kou!" then he left

What?! Was that a warning just now? Kou, what kind of a boy is he? maybe a super muscular man with cigarette in his mouth and tattoos all over like the gangster I see in the movies... Geez, that gives me goose bumps...

Anyways, I couldn't care less, I continued to walked directly to our classroom... I passed by Henry's classroom, taking a quick glance to find him among the crowd but... he's not yet here...

As I passed by, people kept muttering, "I heard Kou's attending school starting today again. That damn brat's suspension is done."

Is he really that scary?... Ahh, just listening to them makes me shiver from fear. As I thought of these useless things, I bumped into someone.

He's so cute, his face's so baby-like, it's so cute and bubbly... his hair has some hair pins on... 

" Sorry." He said 

" Sorry, sorry." I bowed my head

" Please be more careful and watch where you walk." He reminded with a playful smile

Then I continued walking with my head bowed down... after a few steps, I tripped myself over a white thick thread.

Everyone around me laughed so much, I could die of embarrassment... That boy I bumped into earlier went in front of me and grinned devilishly, "I told you to be careful, didn't I?"

WHAT the hell's wrong with this guy?! I glared at him, " What's wrong with you?!"

Suddenly, Henry went near him, "Hey, Kou, what's taking you so long?!"

Kou?! That's the brat they're all talking about?! Well, now that I've thought about it, he has band-aids all over his hands and face... looks like he's been out in the streets fighting others. His polo was unbuttoned showing his white shirt. His hair has some highlights which are not allowed in school... 

"Henry, sorry, I'm teaching this transferee who we are." 

"Don't group me with you." Henry coldly stated walking past me casually

I stood up and asked, "But you're a transferee too, right?"

Kou burst laughing, " You fooled another transferee, huh?" Then he looked at me, "Henry say those stupid things to avoid questions about this school."

Wow they got me... That obviously made sense, I should try that for the another transferee... *sighs* I got fooled by these two?... that simply sucks. I'd be smart to walk away but you're quick sand, This slope is treacherous, this path is reckless...

No way, is he really the Kou from last night? That gentle and caring guy? Seriously what's with their persona changing inside and outside the school!

But as my eyes trail to look at Kou's cat-like eye, I'm sure he was the guy from last night. I remarks, "Oh, it really is you. Cat eyes. Meow."

Everyone around laughed at Kou so he said to me, "Hey! Megumi shut it."

Bingo. It really is him.

Henry looks at us confused and he asked, "You know the transfer kid?"

"No." Kou lied

Henry lend out his hand, I didn't get what he meant so I simply stared at his palm with a puzzling look... and as I was about to reach for his hand, he removes it and sighed, "Coat."

"Ah, you meant your coat."

"Hurry up... it's getting cold." He said

I gave him his coat, "I wasn't able to remove the stain...sorry." 

Henry threw my coat, the one he borrowed yesterday and his coat at me and he glared coldly, " Keep it and don't ever return it to me unless you remove that stain." 

I almost cried upon hearing those hurtful words... I really washed it with everything I have in me and yet, it's worthless...?! Just how cold can he get?!... I put every inch of effort in washing his coat and this is what I receive in return....?! this embarrassment...

"Woah, still cold as ever, Henry." Kou mocked, " You never told me you knew this cutie."

"She's not worth mentioning." Henry straight-forwardly said

I couldn't bear it anymore... He's so cold..He's going overboard!... They walked away without even apologising. Everyone's really staring at me... I felt so embarrassed. 

I shouted at them while holding back my tears, "Can't you at least appreciate the things others have done for you?!" 

"Then just leave me alone." They walked away

This is too much... but I hear the sound of my own voice asking you to stay... I'm forever going with the flow but you're friction...The girls from last night look at me like some pathetic loser and mutters, "I guess she's really not Henry's girl and she's just making up excuses to keep talking to him, geez, talk about desperate."

"I know, right?" They laughs

Ah... this is really pathetic.
