“Sir… what do you mean by this?” She looked confused.

And rightfully so. If she hadn’t known better, this young man seemed to be mocking her, but a genuine stare was so impactful. She couldn’t decide whether to be offended or jealous. She would never touch numerous gold coins even if she broke her back.

The world was cruel. She was living in it and had already resigned to her fate. But this man was of an entirely different breed. Who was he?

“I mean, three gold coins are made on an extremely slow day in just one of the sectors in the business I venture, Lady Linda. On a good day well…” Petal chuckled, using his attractive honey-like voice to allure her.

If he tried to use that against her, he did an incredibly good job of doing exactly that.

“You can dream the amount if you'd like,” Petal added.

Linda’s eyes lit up and she could’ve sworn her mouth watered just a tiny bit. She swallowed hastily and tried to be subtle about it. Obviously it wasn’t subtle enough because Petal was laugh
