“Not particulary.” I responded with. I wanted to figure out my own feelings first. “Nothing major.”
“He is the second most powerful Alpha and our neighbor. We don’t want to piss him off.” Dad warned me. Awesome. My mate, the man who doesn’t want me is the second most powerful Alpha behind my dad. And our neighbor! I should have remembered that. Mentally kicking myself for that one.
“Got it.” I said as I cut the link. Dad looked at me but dropped it. He knew something was wrong but didn’t say anything. Looking over, I could tell he was talking to my mom and I just knew it was about me. Somehow, I felt like I was five years old again.
The rest of the meal went as expected. More and more people came up to me and introduced themselves to me. I felt the disappointment when the men figured out I wasn’t their mate and the jealously in women’s eyes when their man looked disappointed. I didnt want their man but how do you tell someone that?
My dad stood up, “Since Sara has not found her mate yet, Jason will take that place and treat Sarah to the first dance!” Oh fuck, I forgot about that. My axiety flew as I looked at Jason. He was glaring at someone as he walked towards me to take my hand. I didn’t need to look to know he was looking at Alpha Dax. Daring him to make a move. Thankfully he didn’t and Jason took me to the floor. He was as stiff as a board but put on a fake smile.
“Relax, he isn’t coming.” Jason whispered low to me.
“That’s a relief.” I could feel my hands tremble in Jason’s hand.
“You need to pull yourself together. Be strong right now. You can break down crying later but right now you need to hold your own. He the girl your parent’s raised.”
He was right even though it stung a little. Straighting up my back, I put on a polite smile and danced like I was tought. He nodded in approval as he spun me around the floor. All to quickly the song ended as I just started enjoying it.
“THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL!” Someone yelled out as the song quieted down. Looking over, I saw a white hair man, in a server’s outfit holding a knife to Molly’s throat. A thin red line of blood appeared as it slid down between her breast.
I felt Jason’s anger as he was about to shit and lunge at him. My aura quickly eloped him enough that he had to obey me. “Who are you?” The room went quiet as all the men stood and were ready to attack. The tension was thick.
More servers dropped their trays and pulled out machine guns. Forcing the Alphas and everyone else to the floor. I refused to sit. I don’t sit down for anyone. Strangly, no one approached me though.
“It’s isn’t really important who I am… well maybe it does. I bet your mother can figure it out.” He white hair man was exteremly cocky as his attitude seemed carefree. His emotions were throwing me off. He was happy, confident and almost pure hatred filled his heart. It was completely black.
“I disagree. You come here, interrupt MY ceremony and have the nerve to put a knife the Duchess Molly’s throat.” I felt my eyes glow as I spread out my aura. In some ways, my aura was stronger than my mothers. The mystery man took running off with Molly when he saw this. Thankfully the gunmen were momentary stuck so when I saw the Alphas taking care of them, Jason and I ran after the strange man.
We were two of the strongest warriors and runners but couldn’t catch up to him. “Do you smell him?” I yelled at Jason as our feet pounded the wet earth.
“No, I smell Molly though. She is terrified.” Jason and I followed her scent to the woods. I felt an immediate sense of danger and stopped running. We both listened to the forest around us. No birds churping, no squirrels jumping from tree to tree, just the iry quiet of danger. A whimper sounded from our slight left as we quietly worked our way over to it. Footsteps got closer and closer to us until I was able to signal for them to stop. All of our warriors and Alphas had arrived. I felt Alpha Dax but I didn’t bother looking for him.
We were crouched down as we snaked our way through the thick brush. Tired to a tree was Molly. Her mouth was gagged and her hands were tied backwards around the tree. Her shoulder looked like it was out of place from being forced back. Her eyes darted between Jason and her unborn child.
Something wasn’t right. I could feel it. Looking around, I was trying to find what was causing me to feel this way. It wasn’t until Jason lost control that I saw the trip wire. Jason’s leg snapped it in half, causing him to fall forward. A huge log dropped from the tree with a machete sticking out the end. It came swinging down right over Jason’s head and landed in Molly’s chest with a loud thud.
“MOLLY!” Jason screamed. Scrambling to get up he ran over to her. I to, ran over and helped him pull the knife from her chest. Blood was pouring out of her mouth as Jason caught her before she hit the ground. No one said a word as they watched Jason cramble to save her life. It was no use, blood was pouring out of her wound and between her legs.
The screams only a mother could make vibrated the trees as Molly’s mother ran forward, slidding on her knees to get to them. She held Jason and Molly as they rocked her limp body. Jason put his hand over her stomach and kept repeating, “My babies.” I saw realization dawn on people’s faces as the woman cried softly on their man’s shoulders. Alpha Dax caught my eye as he was stairing straight at me. He was … concerned?” I didn’t care what he felt and decided I had enough. Shutting the door, I cut my emotions off so I didn’t have to deal with it. Unfortunatly, mate bonds don’t work that way so I could still feel his concern. What gave me pause was I didn’t think it was concern for my wellbeing.
Reed and my dad walked over to Jason and whispered something in his ear. Together they helped him stand and he carried her out. All that was left was a pool of blood.
“Black team!” I yelled. Five me immediatly came forward and nodded at me. “Go.” They took off and started hunting the man who did it.
The rest of the crowd started walking back but I knew a few of my men were hanging around for instruction. Walking over to the rope, I examined it. Smelled it. No scent was left on it other than Molly’s. The knot was a standard knot that didn’t prove anything. No footsteps were around. It looked like Molly ran out by herself and tied herself to the tree. The man was a ghost. A ghost that killed my sister.
As I turned to leave, something silver caught my eye. Laying on top of the bush was a white hair strand. Just a single strand of hair that shimmered just right in the moonlight. “Ben, get a forensic team down here and comb it. There is a hair here, I want it analyzed. Obviously, top priority.” I said.
Ben took off running, and another warrior came to guard the hair. “Princ- sorry, my queen, the gunmen?”
Looking up, I saw Samuel was looking pissed as he stared at the blood. “Take them to the cells. I will personally handle the interrogation tomorrow.” My men flinched as that and left. That almost made me crack a smile. I studied advance interrogation techniques and they aren’t for the weak stomach.
Following behind me, I felt someone coming up behind me. “Can I help you, Alpha Dax?” Stopping suddenly, I turned to him, almost running into me.
“Just making sure you get home, okay.”
“You realize that I am the most powerful person alive? Not even you could handle my aura. What could you possibly do for me?” snorting, I turned to walk away.
“You don’t have to be a bitch!” He yelled after me.
That stopped me in my tracks. Rounding on him, he was smiling. “Excuse me? You were the one that wanted to reject me, so please, let’s get this over with because you are the least of my concerns right now.” I opened my arms wide and invited him to reject me.
“I wasn’t going to reject you. You caught me off guard, is all.”
“Let me start, I, Sar-” Alpha Dax’s eyes got wide as he realized what I was doing. Without realizing what he was doing, he grabbed the back of my neck and planted a hard, passionate kiss on my lips. I was so taken aback that I didn’t even realize at first what was happening. Sparks shot out all over my body, as I could physically feel a thread snap into place. Connecting his heart to mine. The feeling was suffocating as it took over all your senses. Nothing compared to it. The kiss ended as quickly as it started.
Alpha Dax rested his forehead against mine. Without saying a word, he stormed off and left me standing in the middle of the forest, alone."Sarah?” I heard my mother call for me. Alpha Dax just got out of eye sight as she walked out from behind a tree. “You okay?” “HA, yeah, sure, just peachy.” I shook my head as I slowly started walking back to the palace to go to bed. “I’m not talking about Molly…” Even if my mother wasn’t an empath, leave it to her to know exactly what’s going on. She always said it was a mother’s intuition, but it was a little scary. “I figured, but my answer hasn’t changed.” “He’s your mate?” like she didn’t already know.“Yup.” popping the last P. We had reached the garden. There was a bench that sat in the middle of it. As a little girl, I loved to come here and watch the stars and moon. Something refreshing about being in the moon’s light. “Don’t give up on him yet. Not everyone meets their mate and they are instantly in love.” “Did you and dad have a rough start?” “Oh, yes and no. I met your dad about a week before he turned 18. I had people after me, even though we didn’t know it at that
“Go clean that mess up.” I ordered the guards. They nodded, as that is their usual duties unless I assign someone to do it for them as a punishment. “I will tell you under one condition.” “That is?” I was starting to get really pissed off at him. “Take me with you.”“Excuse me?” “Take me with you. I want to go on this… manhunt.” I looked at Jason for his input, but he was just pitching the bridge of his nose. He was exhausted and lacked caring. “Why the fuck would I take you?” “I have knowledge of witches.”“So does my mother.” Everyone knew of her story was it wasn’t really a secret.“Yes, but I KNOW them. They own me favors.” “Ah, so you slept with them and now they are at your beck-in call for whatever you need in exchange for your… services.” I said pointedly as I looked down at his dick and back up into his eyes. “I don’t apologize for my methods. They got me what I needed.”“I bet they did…” turning I left without a second look. Fuck men. I walked back by myself to the
“Oh, this old thing? HAHA, I just love crystals and believe in their healing powers!” Lie. “How lovely! Thank you for the room!” I said as I waved and walked out. We were in room 103, which looks like we already parked in front of it. Perfect. Walking to the trunk and pulling out the luggage, I managed to get mine to the room before the guys jumped out and got the message. “Only one room?” Ben said, annoyed.“It’s all they had. Go ask for extra blankets if you want to make a bed on the floor.” I wasn’t their mother and to wolves. This wasn’t a big deal. “Naw, I’m good. I brought my own blanket and pillow.” Ben pulled out a small pillow that was big enough for just his head and a small toddler blanket. The thing barely covered his arms, but he laid down and didn’t move again. Samuel didn’t complain, as he did the same. Jason sat down on his bed and I sat on mine. Alpha Dax looked around before he settled between Jason and I’s bed in the middle. I kept my shoes on as I waited for th
It did not prepare me for the burning feeling that scolded my lips. I closed my eyes and pinched my lips together as I turned away from their embrace. My hand acted on its own as it covered my mouth to make the burning feeling go away. I felt Jason’s hand on my shoulder as he squeezed it. Slowly, the burn went away, and I had to blink back the tears that had formed. Not because I was sad, but because of how badly it hurt. “I never expected to see you here, Daxxy!” her black hair was pixie cut with jean shorts and a black flowy tank top. I could see her tattoo down her arm. It was a crest moon shaped dream catcher with lines down that ended into shapes of birds. If my education is correct, this should be the Black Hawk Coven.“I never figured I would be down here, but I am on business.” I heard Dax say before I turned around. “This is Ben, Samuel, Duke Jason and Pr-”“Warrior Princess Sara…” she finished for him. She kept her eyes on me as she walked up to me. “Nice to finally meet y
It was like I was watching my actions from above. My body moved of its own accord. The burning was growing deep within me. It wasn’t until I put on my hand on the handrail of the stairs that I noticed red lines developing on my skin. It was like a tattoo but red on my wrist and it was like a bird. I didn’t have time to really understand what it meant because the basement door opened up. Standing twenty feet in front of me was a vampire. I looked at him and he looked at me. Walking up the stairs to him, I let my aura out. His eyes opened wide as he realized who I was before he ran off. I didn’t even care. Everyone will soon be dead here. The pain in my body was overwhelming. Walking to the livingroom, I saw five vampires and a little girl that looked like Lilith’s twin. “Rose” “My sister sent you, did she?” She had a smirk on her face as she watched my movements.“Give me the necklace and I will leave you all alive.” All the vampires laughed, and Rose looked bored. She took her knee-
“We put a spell on the house. If we do not invite you, you basically get confused and turn around. If you want up on the house, it looks abandoned and if we invite you, you get to see the actual house.”“Well, a witch put the spell up for us. Don’t ask what we had to pay for that…” Gabrial laughed as Vincent shook his head. “That is unnerving…” Samuel said. “It takes some getting used to.” Vincent agreed. We walked in silence to the front of the house. The porch was massive, with five white columns fifty feet high. There was a seating area on the right that Vincent led us to. “I suppose I owe you a thank you.” Vincent started after we all took a seat. I was sitting in a single chair. Vincent and Gabrial took the love seat, Ben and Claudia took the porch swing, and Samuel and Dax took the couch. “Why’s that?” I asked. “You eliminated Rose. Well, you eliminated both sisters, so you really did us two favors.” “Continue…” I hated repeating myself.“Rose and Lilith have been trying
“I tried not to! She put a spell on me that made me forget myself! It wasn’t until we were done that I realized what I did. I would have killed her myself if Sarah didn’t do it!” “Do you realize the physical pain you just put her through? She has a fucking permanent branding of infidelity on her arm. Do you realize how many people will see that when she officially takes over? Every alpha will see that and know you cheated on her. Every alpha will now wonder if she isn’t worthy. If her mate didn’t want her, then she must be broken.”That thought honestly hadn’t crossed my mind until now. “I know a witch that might help with that. She could possibly remove it and she owes me a favor.” I heard Vincent add.“Why would you help us?” Jason asked.“Like I said, you did a favor for killing Rose and Lilith. Consider this as my repayment.”“Any tonight?” Jason asked.“This is for fun. We haven’t been clubbing in a long time!” Gabrial laughed. “I am warning you, Dax. Consider this a threat. If
I felt my jaw drop. Well shit. I guess my face is more familiar than I expected. “Nice to finally meet you. Is there somewhere more private we can talk?” “Follow me.” He said as he offered his arm to me. I took it and together we walked up the four flights of stairs. As soon as we walked into his office, the blasting music was completely gone. The room was very professional but pricey. Stark white carpet with dark brown leather furniture. His mahogany desk filled the whole one side of the office. Behind that, there were floor to ceiling windows overlooking the dance floor and pretty much the whole building. You could see that bars, the entryway and even the restrooms. Von caught me looking down at the dance floor. He had a perfect view of where I was. “It’s a two-way mirror.” “Perfect for watching.” I noted. I didn’t feel threatened, but I didn’t feel at ease either. Von was honestly very curious right now. “What do I owe this… untimely visit?” “I believe we have a mutual p

Damian POVI watched her perfect ass walk to the bathroom. I had to hide a laugh as her legs were still shaking. I needed a minute. Sitting on the couch, my mind went over the last few hours. I wasn’t sure what happened but when I saw Dax’s ghost, my heart sank. Then he had the little boy but the worst part was that Sarah wasn’t shocked to see him. She knew he was there. She must have talked to him. I tried to keep the doubt from filling me that she would have chose him. “Damian.” A voice I thought I’d never hear again was clear as day.My head instantly shot up. I was in complete disbelief to see Dax standing in front of me. My mouth opened a few times but nothing came out.”Wa-”“The Moon Goddess is allowing me a five minute visit. I came to tell you that she is all yours. She has accepted I died and she loves you with her whole heart. I was never meant to live through this. This was always how it was suppose to work. She saved you as much as you saved her. It’s cruel how things end
Our bodies froze as I pushed the knife in until I felt his blood run down my hand. Twisting the knife counter clockwise at 90 degrees, I made sure he wouldn’t survive the tree days it would take to suck his soul out. “NO!!” Astra yelled out as she watched Grant fall off me, holding the knife. His eyes landed on her as blood seeped from his eyes, nose and mouth. Kicking him away from me, I grabbed my side breathing heavily. “Give it up. You are finished!” Astra’s eyes went straight back as she chanted something before lifting her head up and screamed. Black smoke formed between us as a sort of bird manifested in front of me. It looked like a Raven but beefed up. Maybe more like a dragon but either way, it’s beady red eyes were focused on me. I reacted on instinct as my shield went up right as it shot something white at me. It was like little daggers hitting my shield so hard that it caused me to fall to the ground, under the pressure. The creature didn’t stop it’s attack. T
I had no idea what to do. Running back into the hut, Maverick’s laugher became background noise. Sliding on my knees, I skidded to a stop, right in front of my mom. Her body was cold as ice. “MOM!” I yelled. Shaking her, she did not respond. I didn’t even think before pulling my hand back and slapping her arm across the face. Nothing. She didn’t move or even flinch as my hand made contact with her body. I looked frantically around, for anything to help. My eyes landed on Dax’s name. Glancing over quickly at Astra, she was still saying an chant. As quietly as I could, I tiptoed my way over to the shelf and uncorked Dax’s vial with shaking hands. The smoke shot out of it. Before it knew it, a ghostly figure that reselmed Dax stood in front of me. “You have to stop her!” Dax looked at me with urgency. “How? What do I do?” My heart ached for him. “I could knock the cauldron over but she could just pick it back up again!” “You can do this. You need to think. Your mother and you joined
Everything had darken as it looked like not a single ray of sun was hitting these trees. Cages of monkeys were hanging from the branches just above my head. They were thrashing around with a crazed look in their eyes. My heart kept breaking as we slowly walked deeper into the heinous environment. Baskets lined the path with a variety of items. Some where of insects and some where of different spices or herbs. The smell is what caused me the most discomfort. Rotten flesh or decaying fecal matter is so potent that I not even sure it will come out of these clothes. As the path opened up, there was three huts in a half circle at the end of the path. A firepit at in the middle with a cauldron resting on top of it. Purple smoke was going straight up through a small opening in the trees, creating a dome shape in the canopy. “Let’s continue the tour, shall we?” Maverick gestured to the first hut on the left. Glancing behind me, the trees had closed around the path we just took as it was no
Staying on my hands and knees, I slowly waved my arm out as I scooted forward. That stupid chair should be here, somewhere. Finally, my fingers grazed passed the cold metal as the boat shifted to the left. My stomach did a little twist that raised all the hairs on my body. I better not get sea sick in here! Picturing what the chair looked like, it would be easy to just melt the metal into one solid rod that I could sculpt. It was hard doing this in the dark but I was able to heat the metal up enough that the chair was now bent in a little cube. It was slow work for sure but using on hand, I was able to squeeze it together and pull out until it was shaped like a spear. While the metal was still hot, I extended my fingernail and started putting in grooves in a spiral down the rod so it looked like one giant drill bit. Unfortunately, I had to wait for it to cool before I could see if it was even going to work. With my other hand on the wall, I moved it around until I felt the crack of
“What is that?” Tom whispered quietly as he got close to examine the bite mark. “A vampire bite.” I said, casually. All three men and two wolves turned their head to look at me. “W-what?” Tom and Maverick asked at the same time. “She wouldn’t tell us what we wanted to know so we got…creative.” I shrugged. “By turning her into a vampire?” Tom asked. “One one vampire’s bite can make a change like this…” Maverick trailed off. “Winner winner, chicken dinner.” “You-you intentionally turned her into a vampire?” Tom asked, appalled. “Technically, no. Von is newly immortal and most not understand self control but my heart isn’t breaking for that bitch. I’ll kill her before her transformation is complete.” “Fucking ice princess….” Tom said as he pulled her shirt back down. “I’ll go get the food.” Maverick muttered as he walked into town. “Why ice princess?” I laughed as I walked to a tree and sat down. “You are literally choosing to be here. You could easily go invade her comp
“Shit!” Cynthia whispered as she pulled me to the floor. Should have known there was a security system. “Oh bummer…” I obviously faked concern. “What does Damian even see if you?” Cynthia said through clinched teeth. “Not much to look at and you have a mouth that gets you into trouble.” “Not sure what to tell you.” I smirked as the front door opened. “WHO’S IN HERE?” A voice boomed. The smell was human and as I peaked out from behind the clothes, he wasn’t going to chase us very far. Apparently, Cynthia made the same observation. As the police officer walked in, we made our way to the front. Sprinting quickly, we ran out the front door. “HEY! GET BACK HERE!” He bellowed. His breathing was already heavy as he exited the door. We were already in the woods and in a full sprint by the time he even hit the grass. “Burg… (deep breath) i-in progress… (deep breath) send-send help…” is all we heard. We were far enough that his voice became a whisper to us, but we kept running in case a d
“Not sure how to make that much clearer for you!” Cynthia looked at me with hate-filled eyes. It was all I could do to stare back. She had to find a human to sacrifice to prove her loyalty to Astra? Well shit. We weren’t going to fully break her. I doubt any amount of torturing will make her give us what we want. Maybe we can use this to our advantage? Von was looking at me, waiting for the go ahead, and Cynthia had put her head down as her breathing leveled out. “What are you thinking?” Damian mind-linked me. “She isn’t going to break. We are going about this wrong. It would be the same if I commanded you to not speak. You wouldn’t be physically able to say anything to whomever.” “Hmm.” “We need to change tactics. Let her think she is giving us bad information and use her to take us to them. We can’t wait for the eclipse. That’s too long if they have already cut mom and dad with the knife. Just follow my lead.” I said to Damian. I really hope this works. “What if I told you
