Present time
Evolet pov
"Oren! That's it! I'm going to end you!" I said, trying to get out the dirt from my hair. My new green and blue dress look like a hundred years old rug now." My dress is ruined, Oren," I said, pouting.
"Oh, the little princess is upset now!" he said, throwing another full hand of dirt in my face." That's it! No more! I'm going to send you and hide you in the basement," I said and started running after a laughing Oren.
"Evolet!Oren! What are you two doing? You should be ready for the Celebration! It's going to start every minute now!" Our mother said, walking towards us.
"Evolet! Oh my! What happened to your dress?" Mother asked, looking between Oren and me. We also looked at each other, and both of us burst into laughter so hard that tears were streaming down our faces. Then we ran! We know what happened last time when our mother gets mad with us. I like my ears the way they are. I don't want to look like an elf.
"Oren and Evolet Wood! You better change and be in time for Celebration! Don't make me come after you!"
When we heard that, we started running faster, pushing each other when we get to the door. Oren was more robust, but I was smaller, so I was the one getting in the house first.
"Evolet, Oren?! What's wrong." Our father asked worriedly.
"Oh, nothing to worry about, father! At least not for now.If we change and be ready in time for Celebration before mother gets mad!" The three of us changed a knowing look, and we burst into laughter again.
"Then you better won't be late," my father said, getting out of the door.
We ran upstairs, and before I touched the doorknob, my brother tripped my legs, and I fell off face first. He then runs to his room and closes the door. I got up with a scoff and went to change.
After a quick shower, I put on a simple long green dress. I braid my hair on one side and put on some light makeup. My wavy hair was a weird combination of silver and grey, and my eyes were silver. I took after my mother for sure. She had straight grey hair with silver eyes and light skin, a trait for the Air elementals, while my father's hair was curly black and his eyes as black as charcoal, and his skin was tan. Oren was a perfect copy of my father.
As I was staring in the mirror, I could swear that I saw some purple dancing in my eyes. Maybe it's just the dust from my and Oren's last fight.
My sight may be affected. I thought, laughing at my stupidity.
"Your Majesty, come on, hurry!" Oren yelled in a mocking voice, knocking on my door.
"I'm coming, my Prince!" I said in the same way.
Opening the door, I see Oren waiting for me in a black and green suit complementing his features. I must recognise, my brother was a handsome specimen.
"Are you good, Evolet?" His voice sounds serious now
"Yes, why not! I must say I would be much better if I didn't need to change twice in the last two hours! You know how I hate those uncomfortable dresses !"I know I'm a princess, and I'm supposed to love dressing up with a new fancy dress every hour, wearing lots of makeup and jewellery, and being crazy about rainbows and Unicorns, but I'm not! I'll always choose a good fight over a stupid dress if there's a choice.
"Yeah, yeah, I know! But today is so important for you! We celebrate the Earth Element, and also, you'll become a warrior! And not a simple warrior but the Head warrior." Oren said proudly. "You amaze me so much, little sister. Without an element to control, you were able to defeat all the warriors in less than six months! Some people train half of their lives, and they are not able to accomplish such things! I'm so proud of you!" He whispers the last part while kissing my temple.
The truth is, I was so excited about today. Earth Celebration was one of my favourite things. My parents told me there was a time when all the Kingdoms were celebrating together, but after the war started, every nation celebrated their element in their own Kingdom. All apart from one. The Water Kingdom. The Kingdom that started the war.
I bet there was so much fun back then. Everyone danced together on the packed streets of The Market, The Four Seasons Market, which was now only a battlefield. Fire and Water Kingdoms still fight, while Air and Earth were doing their best not to get involved. I heard stories about the war who won't let a grown-up sleep at night. I'm so lucky I was born here, far away from the war.
But I still wish I could see the fire and water elements. I never in my life have seen anyone able to control any of this.
As my mother was once Princess Erin of the Air Kingdom, I visited my grandparents Kingdom. So I have seen Air and Earth elements.
Ordinary people have only one element. But the royals can have two. My mother is the only person that I know able to control two parts. She once told me about Queen Noelani, who was the Water Queen. The mention of her name makes the hair on my neck stand up every single time. She was able to control Air and Water. Something unheard before! No one possessed these two elements before. It was the first and maybe the last case.
It is said the second element is revealed when that person meets their true love.
It's like you have that element, but it is locked so deep inside of you, and only love can release it. Sounds cheesy, I know.
But the worst part is that I'm the only one with no element. First of my kind in thousands of years. Though I'm not scared, even without an element, I can kick half of the Kingdom asses on my own.
I'm Evolet Wood. A 19 years old Princess Warrior with no element, but with a family who cares enough for me to make me feel like the strongest person alive.
I kiss my brother on the cheek, and we start walking towards the city centre, where the Celebration was held.
I can't wait to meet Willow! I missed her so much.
Evolet povFive years later"Eden! Come here! We need to get ready now! Your father is waiting for us! We don't want to keep him waiting for too long now, do we?""No, mommy! Daddy will be sad.""Yes, he will be sad. So let's get dressed!"I start brushing her black curly hair. She looked so much like her father. Black hair, tan skin, only her eyes are silver-like mine. Sometimes I can see the purple in them. I know she can control all the elements, even the Aether. She will be more powerful than all of us. But this is what scares me. Many will try to hurt her.Her sweet voice bro
Blaze povHe's dead! Finally, the war is over!I run towards my Alter, holding my wound."Evolet!" I yelled, kneeling next to her. But before I could reach her, she passed out."Help her, someone! Please!"I look around at the sea of people. Her family was crying. Oren was still shocked by what had happened earlier. I'm not sure what that was. But I swear I have seen Amaya turning into a giant black wolf. I heard stories about people who had this ability. But it was only stories. All the water elementals were on their knees, waiting for their fate to be decided.
Amaya pov When I took Evolet's hand, I instantly connected to her power. It was more substantial than before. I knew immediately this was the Aether. "Let's play, then!" That was all I could say. She nodded her head. "Don't try to save me, Amaya! I promise I'll do my best! But if my death is truly the only option to end this, I won't hesitate. Tell my family I love them! And please, look after Blaze!" She gave me a small smile, and I left the already damaged barrier between Aalto and us down, only to create another one that separated the three of us from the others. Everyone was looking at us, not fighti
Evolet pov"Blaze!" I yelled, running towards him. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him, forgetting about our surroundings for a moment."Little flower! You're ok! Thank Goodness! Did he touch you? Did he hurt you?" The anger in his voice would make everyone cringe, but not me.I kissed him again. "No! He did not!""Evolet, watch out!" Amaya yelled. But before I could turn around, Blaze switched our places. He was looking me in the eyes! His lips are lifting in a sad smile."I'm sorry, my little flower! I couldn't keep my promise! I love you! I will always love you!"
Blaze pov.We were near the palace gates. I lift my hand for everyone to stop so that I can take in our surroundings. "Wait! We need to take down those five warriors! Quietly!""I'm on it! They won't expect to see me! Everyone thinks that their prince is dead! I can create a distraction long enough for you to go unnoticed.""That's a good idea, Kano!"He then heads to the gates. I could see the surprised warriors trying to figure out how it is possible for their prince to be alive.I get close to them. Careful not to make any sound. I snap the neck of the first warrior, then punch another in the chin, sending him on the floor, unconscious. Kano froze tw
Blaze povI remember Evolet saying she's going to change. But it's been more than an hour, and I can't see her anywhere."Willow? Have you seen Evolet anywhere?""Mmm...no! The last time I saw her, she was going to her room. Is everything alright?" She asked, worried."Yes, no worries! Maybe she's asleep. She didn't sleep well last night." I said, hoping she was in bed.I made my way to our room, but it was empty."Where is she?" I asked no one in particular."Blaze! Blaze!" I turn around to see Kano.&n
