Edwina
I stare at the phone, my fingers tightening around it as the line goes dead. With a slow exhale, I hand it back to Alessandro, who takes it without a word.
"Who is he?" I ask, still unsettled.
"You’ll find out soon enough," he replies dryly, a smirk playing at his lips.
I roll my eyes, already annoyed by his cryptic nature. "Does he ever do business face-to-face?" I prod, trying to imagine the man behind that voice—deep, rich, and edged with arrogance.
Alessandro chuckles. "Why? You already falling for him, princess?"
I ignore the teasing lilt in his voice and instead ask, "So what happens now?"
"You wait for him to call the shots," he says simply, as if it's the most obvious thing in the world.
Frustration coils inside me, but I know better than to push him for more. With a sigh, I rise from my seat, leaving the club. The same black Lamborghini that brought me here is already waiting outside.
The ride back to my office is silent, but my mind is anything but. The conversation replays in my head, the deep, commanding voice sending shivers down my spine. I hate to admit it, but it was… intoxicating.
By the time I return, Alexxis is waiting for me, filling me in on everything that happened during the investor meeting.
"Good job, Alexxis," I say, genuinely pleased. "How about a night out? Drinks on me."
She grins, eyes lighting up. "I wouldn't say no to that."
As darkness settles over the city, Elliot is already waiting by the car. He acknowledges Alexxis with a nod before turning to me.
"Hello, Edwina," he says in his usual stoic manner.
"Elliot, we’re heading to the club. Mind dropping us off?"
"Not a problem," he replies, opening the door.
Alexxis and I slide into the backseat, the excitement evident on her face. She’s always been a club person, unlike me. Despite working together for years, I don’t know much about her past—she’s good at keeping her emotions under wraps. But we've grown close, and I trust that when she’s ready, she’ll open up.
"Um, Edwina? Are you okay?" Alexxis’ voice pulls me from my thoughts.
"Huh?" I blink, shaking off my daze.
She chuckles. "You zoned out for a second."
I smile. "Just proud of you, Alexxis."
She grins, and soon, we pull up to the club. The neon lights cast a glow over the crowded entrance, where a long queue of impatient partygoers stretches around the block.
"The hell?! These lines are insane," Alexxis groans.
I laugh. "It won’t be a problem."
We stride toward the entrance, ignoring the stares that follow us. The bouncer, a massive man with a stone-cold expression, steps aside without a word.
"Well, that was easy," Alexxis murmurs as we enter.
The air inside is thick with sweat, alcohol, and the unmistakable scent of luxury and excess. Bodies sway under flashing lights, lost in the heavy bass of the music. At the bar, a bartender smirks at us.
"What can I get you, pretty ladies?"
I roll my eyes at his attempt at charm.
"Three shots of vodka," Alexxis orders eagerly.
"Same for me," I add.
The bartender disappears for a moment, returning with our drinks. Alexxis eyes me mischievously.
"Today must be special if you’re drinking."
"Hey, quit acting like I don’t drink," I say, exasperated.
She laughs, tossing back her first shot, and I follow suit. The vodka burns down my throat, potent and sharp.
"I’m hitting the dance floor," Alexxis announces, finishing her last shot.
I down my own, letting the alcohol work its way into my system before following her. The music pulses through my veins as I step onto the dance floor, where Alexxis pulls me into her energy. My hips move in sync with the rhythm, my mind drifting.
I shut my eyes, surrendering to the music, but instead of the beats, all I hear is his voice. That smooth, velvety accent whispering in my ear.
A shiver runs down my spine.
The thought of him sends a rush through me, my breath hitching at the mere idea of his presence.
I shake off the feeling and make my way back to the bar, throat burning for another drink.
"Another three shots," I tell the bartender, sliding onto a stool.
He raises a brow but obliges. I down the first, then the second, the heat spreading through me, making everything around me blur.
"Never imagined you as the club type, Edwina."
The voice comes from beside me, deep and smooth, laced with amusement.
I whip my head around so fast I nearly fall off the stool.
And there he is.
Dressed in a crisp white dress shirt that clings to his broad shoulders, the first two buttons undone, revealing inked skin beneath. His sleeves are rolled up to his elbows, exposing forearms marked with dark tattoos. But it’s his impossibly deep emerald-green eyes that hold me captive, watching me like I’m something to be figured out.
A slow smirk tugs at his lips as he takes in my expression.
I snort. "Is there a problem, baby?" he asks, clearly entertained.
I shake my head, laughing, the alcohol making everything seem funnier than it should be. "It’s just… you’re so fucking hot. It’s not fair."
His smirk widens. "Not fair to who? Me or you?"
"All of womankind," I slur, giggling.
"I’m sure it is," he says, motioning to the bartender. "Bill her tab under mine."
The gesture makes me chuckle as he stands, his powerful frame towering over me. Before I can react, his arm wraps around my waist, pulling me up against him.
My breath catches.
"Alexxis," I mumble, suddenly remembering her.
He tightens his grip as I try to pull away. "She’ll get home safely, Edwina," he says, his voice a dark promise.
The world spins as nausea creeps in, and before I can protest, bile rises in my throat.
"Shit," I gasp.
And then I throw up—right on his pristine white shirt.
"Cazzo," he curses in Italian, his tone caught between irritation and disbelief.
I sway on my feet, darkness creeping into my vision.
"That’s enough for one night, baby," he mutters. "Time to go home."
I barely register his words before everything fades to black.

EdwinaA dull, relentless throbbing pounds against my skull as I groan, my eyelids fluttering open. The room is too bright, the morning light spilling through sheer curtains and casting a golden glow over the space. My body feels heavy, my limbs sluggish as I shift slightly against the ridiculously soft mattress beneath me.I force myself upright, the crisp white sheets slipping down my body as I take in my surroundings. The bed is enormous—king-sized, adorned with silk sheets and plush pillows that look entirely untouched except for where I lay. The unfamiliarity of the room prickles at my senses, and a wave of unease washes over me.This is not my bedroom. The realization jolts me into full awareness. Panic settles in as I look down, my breath catching when I notice what I’m wearing—or rather, what I’m not wearing. My dress from last night is gone, replaced by an oversized white dress shirt that hangs loosely off my frame. The fabric smells outrageously expensive, laced with a deep,
Edwina"See you around, Princessa," Alessandro calls out smoothly as the car pulls up in front of my company building. The doors unlock automatically, and I step out, adjusting my dress. Before I can respond, Alessandro speeds off, leaving me standing at the entrance, watching the taillights disappear into traffic.A sharp, furious voice cuts through the air."I swear, Edwina, one day, I will strangle you!"My eyes widen as my best friend, Krystal, storms up to me, her heels clicking aggressively against the pavement. Her face is flushed with frustration, and her arms are crossed tightly over her chest."What the hell?" I blurt out, genuinely taken aback. "Krys, why are you screaming like a lunatic?"She places her hands on her hips, practically vibrating with fury. "Where the hell were you last night, Ed?! And you better not feed me any bullshit!"I sigh, already knowing how relentless Krystal can be when she wants answers. "How about we talk about this in my office?" I suggest calmly
EdwinaThe soft hum of conversation, the clinking of wine glasses, and the scent of rich Italian Cuisine fill the air, but all of it fades into the background the moment the glass shatters. The sharp sound echoes through the elegant restaurant, drawing the attention of nearby patrons. I flinch, my body instinctively stiffening at the unexpected commotion."Oh my God, I'm so sorry," a feminine voice exclaims, thick with remorse.I look up, prepared to glare at whoever had just spilt wine all over my dress, but the words die in my throat. The woman standing before me is breathtaking. She has the kind of beauty that makes people stop and stare—flawless sun-kissed skin, high cheekbones, and large almond-shaped hazel eyes that hold an almost hypnotic warmth. Her black dress clings to her hourglass figure, effortlessly elegant yet daring. Honey-coloured streaks weave through her rich brunette waves, cascading past her shoulders in perfect symmetry. For a fleeting moment, I feel something I h
Raffaele"I'm sorry," Edwina says, her voice tight with emotion as she stares at me, eyes filled with something close to regret. My fists clench and unclench of their own accord, my jaw tightening as I force myself to look away from her.No woman—no one—has ever dared to challenge me the way she does. She looked me dead in the eyes and raised her hand against me. If she were anyone else, she’d be dead already, a bullet lodged between her perfect brows. But she isn’t just anyone. She’s Edwina.I don’t know what about seeing Jasmine triggered her so violently, but I caught the flash of jealousy in her gaze before she masked it with anger. When her palm met my cheek, I felt the urge to remind her exactly who was in control. But I held back, knowing if I let that part of me take over, I’d push her too far. She’s already slipping through my fingers and the thought of losing her completely… I don’t want to think about it.The sound of the car door slamming pulls me from my thoughts. She’s le
EdwinaA sharp chime slices through the silence of my penthouse, rousing me from sleep. I groan, burying my face into the pillow, wishing the visitor—whoever the hell they were—would vanish. The bell rings again, more insistent this time.Dragging myself out of bed, I make my way downstairs, barely awake as I swing the door open. My breath catches in my throat when I see who’s standing there—Raffaele dressed impeccably in a dark suit, his usual air of dominance unwavering.“What the fuck?” I whisper to myself as he brushes past me like he owns the place.“Good morning to you too, Tesoro,” he murmurs, voice smooth and deep.I shut the door behind him, frowning. After what happened last night, I didn’t expect to see him. Not so soon, at least.“What do you want, Raffaele?” I ask, arms crossed. He pins me with an unreadable stare before replying.“There’s something we need to discuss.”I sigh, rubbing my temples. “Couldn’t we have done this somewhere else? I look like shit.” I gesture at
~Edwina~“Tesoro.”Raffaele’s voice is sharp and controlled, breaking the silence of the penthouse kitchen where I sit, absentmindedly tracing patterns on the cool marble countertop.I exhale slowly, unwilling to meet his gaze. “What?” My tone is clipped, my annoyance barely concealed. His jaw tightens. “You can use my room for the nights you'll be staying here.”I scoff. “Thanks, but I prefer my own space.” My words drip with defiance, but he only arches a brow, clearly unfazed.“That shouldn’t be a problem. I have a lot of work to do.”I roll my eyes. “I’m sure you do.”Without another word, he turns and walks away, leaving me with my thoughts. A small part of me wants to call him back, to demand a real conversation instead of this frustrating game of evasion. But pride holds me still. Why should I be the one to bridge the distance? He was the one being impossible.I sigh, pushing myself up from the island, deciding to take a shower before bed. The path to his room is familiar, every
Raffaele"Sorry, but I enjoy my personal space," Edwina says coolly, her glare sharp enough to cut through steel. She sits on the kitchen island, arms crossed, exuding defiance.I shoot my expression, keeping my voice neutral as I respond, "That shouldn't be a problem. I have a lot of work to do.""I'm sure you do," she mutters under her breath, her voice laced with sarcasm.I exhale sharply, turning away. Engaging in this conversation any further will only lead to another battle of wills—one I don’t have the patience for this morning. As I walk to my office, frustration coils tightly within me. Edwina has always been difficult, but the past twenty-four hours have taken it to a new level.Settling behind my desk, I loosen my tie slightly and rub a hand over my jaw, the tension from last night still lingering. My phone vibrates, pulling me from my thoughts."Hello, Raffaele," comes Jasmine’s smooth voice."Hello, Jas," I respond evenly, already anticipating the reason for her call."Jus
EdwinaThe day finally comes to a close, and exhaustion settles deep in my bones. My muscles ache from a long day at work, and all I want is to sink into bed and forget about the world. When Elliot picks me up, I lean back in my seat, rubbing my temples as I give him directions to Raffaele’s penthouse. I stare out the window, letting the city lights blur past, my mind too tired to focus on anything specific. But then, a flicker of movement in the rearview mirror catches my attention. I frown, straightening slightly. Two black-tinted SUVs are following us at a careful distance. A cold shiver runs down my spine.“Elliot,” I murmur, my voice laced with suspicion. “Have you noticed those two SUVs behind us?”“Yeah, I have,” he replies, keeping his eyes on the road. “They were parked outside the company building when I arrived to pick you up. Didn’t think much of it at first, but they’ve been trailing us ever since.”My jaw clenches as realization dawns. “That bastard,” I mutter under my br

Raffaele Something seems to be disturbing my Tesoro and knowing her I know that she is too stubborn to tell me unless she is ready to talk about it. I cannot help but shake off the feeling that she is hiding something from me and does not want me to find out probably the reason why she has been acting all strange ever since we landed in Italy. One thing about me is that I have been trained to read emotions and feelings and I can tell when someone is lying to me about something she has been doing to me for the past few weeks but I have done my best not to seem bothered while deep inside I feel quite livid. I love Edwina but lying is where I draw the line when it comes to having a relationship with someone and as much as I want to act oblivious to her actions I can't help that feeling in my gut that is telling me that she is indeed hiding something from me. I close the door to our room and make my way down to my office to go through some work calling Gio to join me for a little chat.
Edwina Tonight is the night. I will have my driver on standby waiting to take to to the airport and make sure to keep Raffaele away from this or someone will die tonight Bellissima. Make sure to do as you are told to avoid someone's blood being on your hands. xx yours truly. Immediately after I read the message on my screen my blood runs cold knowing that tonight is the night I will be leaving Raffaele to protect him and his men. I try my best to regulate my breathing not wanting to have a full-blown full-blowback with Raffaele just a few steps away from me in the shower with no clue in the world to what is going on. "Hey, are you okay?" comes Raffaele's voice drawing my attention far away from my phone screen to see him standing and already dressed as he buttons up his dress shirt. "Yeah, "I force out shutting off my phone screen and tossing my phone away to avoid any suspicions. One thing I have learned from this lifestyle is the art of hiding my emotions to avoid any suspicio
EdwinaI remain frozen on the spot my eyes meeting Raffaele's darkened gaze as he winces in the process clutching onto his shirt which seeps blood."Cosa è successo?"yells Eleanora her face morphing into a giant frown as she makes her way son who leans against the counter with Giovanni to his left and Rodriguez to his right."I'm fine madre,"grunts out Raffaele clearly in pain as Eleanora genlty kisses his forehead his green orbs never leaving mine."Thank God you are here the man is as stubborn as they come princessa and only you will be able to help him clean up since he does not want anyone next to him,"comes Alessandro's voice from beside me making my gaze shift from Raffaele to him.I nod my head in response no words being able to leave my mouth as I slowly walk up to Raffaele who stares at me a slight frown on his face. I notice the way Gio nods his head in reassurance as I gently take Raffaele's hand in mine."How about I get you cleaned up,"I tell him softly all eyes on our li
Edwina Immediately I head out of Raffaele's office I make my way across the house holding my new phone box in my hand. I shake my head in amusement chuckling at how Raffaele loves to spend money on me without a doubt not realizing that Vincenzo is standing right across from me. "Should I be worried that you are laughing by yourself?" he asks amusement shining in his eyes. "Maybe, "I tell him a smirk making its way onto my lips. Vincenzo just smiles at me in amusement making his way around me to head wherever he is going. "Where are you going?"I ask him curious to know where he is headed. "Just headed out to sort out some business," he says not giving me room to respond as he walks further away. I make my way to Raffaele's room where I sit on the bed thinking about what Raffaele's phone call could be about since he was quick to mention that it was nothing when I asked him. "Damn I need to find something to do today, "I murmur to myself sighing in the process when my thoughts ar
Raffaele Immediately the question leaves my mouth, I observe and notice the way Edwina's body freezes her eyes flashing with slight panic before she quickly composes herself. I try not to read deep into it considering how of late I have made her think I do not trust her while in a real sense it is quite, in fact, the opposite. I trust her with my life and the last thing I would want is to draw us further apart and push her away. "Come here, "I tell her softly my piercing gaze matching hers and she hesitantly walks towards me standing a couple of steps away from me. "Closer Tesoro, "I say my voice going an octave deeper not liking the small distance between us. She does as I say stepping closer to me and I am quick to pull her into my lap her legs straddling me. Her sweet lilac scent fills my senses and I almost go crazy burying my face into her neck and pulling her closer to my body her scent slowly calms my racing nerves. "You smell divine Tesoro, "I growl out gently peppering
Edwina We sit in silence tension filling the air after Raffaele speaks my body filling with slight rage at his ability to suspect that I am being untruthful to him. "Why do I feel like you are suspecting me to be a liar?"I ask rather defensively suddenly not wanting to be in his presence. "I am not Tesoro where is this even coming from?" asks Raffaele his eyebrows furrowing in total confusion at my question. "Yes, you are. It's like ever since I went out with your sisters to the mall you suspect I am hiding something from you?!"I yell my last thread of restraint snapping in half as I take a step away from him causing him to clench his fists at his side. "Are you hiding something from me Tesoro?" he asks his voice laced with venom that I barely recognize the man standing in front of me. I cannot stop the hurt that passes through me at his question which confirms my thoughts that the man indeed has his doubts that I am hiding something from him. "No I am not hiding something from
Edwina I stand infront of our bedroom mirror admiring the way the red gown hugs my body showing off my hour glass figure my hair straightened which is kind of new since it is always curly and bouncing off my shouders. My fingers come up to toy with the necklace that sits on my neck as the door to our bedroom opens revealing a dressed up Raffaele. Our eyes connect through the mirror as he makes his way up to me his arms going around my waist pulling me back into his chest as I admire how handsome he looks in his black suit. "You look beautiful Tesoro,"he says admiration in his eyes causing my heart to flutter at his compliment. "Thank you,"I blush out suddenly feeling a bit hot and bothered under his intense gaze. Raffaele is quick to turn me around in his arms causing me to squeal in surprise as he pulls me closer to him his strong cologne invading my senses. I notice the way he has shaved his beard giving him a dangerous sexy look and I cannot help but feel proud to call him my m
Edwina The next morning I wake up and Raffaele is nowhere to be seen in bed his side of the bed is quite cold a sign that he was probably up quite early. I sighed taking a few minutes to myself thinking how I am going to be able to pull off leaving with Mariano's men without anyone in this house knowing. I notice one of Raffaele's shirts on the other end of the bed as I pick it up and wear it. I am startled by the sound of my phone ringing as I roll over to pick it up the sound of Krys angry voice being heard. "Tell me why the fuck you went to Italy without telling me goodbye," yells a not-so-pleased Krys through the phone. "Well hello to you too, "I grumble out not enjoying the sound of her loud voice in the morning, or at least I think I don't. "Edwina, "scowls Krys and I can tell that her patience is slowly running out. "Someone broke into the manor, "I sigh out rubbing my temples. "Oh my god! Are you okay?" asks Krys frantically her voice laced in worry. "Well other than t
