BIANCA'S POV

He laughed, causing a sudden reaction in my body that I couldn't understand.

"You see," he remarked, inhaling from his cigarette and watching the smoke rise into the air, "It appears that you are bearing a heavy burden on those lovely shoulders."

I was taken aback by his unexpected compliment, causing my breath to catch in my throat.

Attractive? No one had complimented my appearance for a long time, ever since Matteo started ignoring me, and his feelings for me slowly diminished with time.

"It's... complicated.'"

He brushed the ash off his cigarette while keeping his eyes locked on mine. "Life has a tendency," he mentioned as he moved closer, our bodies almost touching. "However, complexity can also be thrilling."

A sudden sensation of warmth spread through my chest, catching me off guard.

"This man, known for being a playboy who breaks hearts, was stirring up something inside me that had been locked away for a long time," I thought, staring at him with intense emotion in my eyes.

He leaned closer, his warm breath on my cheek. "Please, Bianca," he whispered softly, his voice husky, "what occurs when the past meets a strong current desire?"

A wild drumming pounded in my chest, signaling my sudden alertness.

His words lingered in the atmosphere, dripping with a menacing vow.

It had been years since I last experienced the unfamiliar sensation of desire, longing for more than the life I had meticulously created.

"I..." I started, my voice shaking a little, "I'm not sure."

As his lips touched mine, a spark ignited, sending electric energy through my body.

The kiss came out of nowhere, a mix of passion and desire.

He had a flavor of smoke and another unknown primal and intoxicating element.

My thoughts urged me to distance myself, to recall the man's character and the possibility of trouble he posed.

However, my treacherous body reacted by melting under his caress.

His hand glided along my back, causing shivers to ripple across my skin.

His kiss intensified, showing ownership and authority, but with a hint of unexpected gentleness.

We were a tumultuous mix of feelings, a collision of history and the present, of fury and longing.

The kiss was an urgent request for an unidentified desire, a feeling of closeness I longed for following many years of being alone.

His eyes shone with a deep intensity as he finally withdrew. "You're more complex than you appear, Bianca Rossi," He croaked "...more than a jilted former spouse and a prosperous entrepreneur." His eyes locked with mine, containing a brewing storm within.

The cool breeze was filled with silent opportunities, the distinction between curiosity and something more seductive becoming increasingly unclear.

I caught my breath when he moved a loose hair from my face, his touch causing tingles down my back. "You have a flame inside you, Bianca," he whispered, his voice gently husky. "A fire waiting to be set free."

Prior to my reply, a loud, high-pitched squeal filled the tense air.

With a flushed face from sleep, Luca stood at the villa entrance holding onto his adored T-Rex.

His innocent eyes blinked at us, completely unaware of the complex tangle of emotions surrounding him.

I was overwhelmed by shame and guilt, as if a tidal wave had hit me.

Matteo. Luca. Alessandro.

These three men are complications, mysteries in my meticulously organized life.

While I knelt to embrace Luca, a symbol of purity and warmth, one thought resounded in my head;

"What have I gotten myself involved in?"

Luca's tiny body pressed against mine briefly brought me back to the present. I felt shame engulf me, icy and wet. This was not meant to occur. Here is not the place, not in this manner. Alessandro remained motionless, a brief moment of inscrutable emotion passing over his face before a grin appeared.

"It appears that our small meeting has been disrupted," he remarked, his voice as smooth as silk.

Luca, unaware of the atmosphere, walked towards Alessandro, presenting his dinosaur to him. "Excuse me, sir? Do you want to play a T-Rex's roar?"

Alessandro laughed, bending down to match Luca's height. "Of course, my little friend. What is the maximum volume at which your T-Rex can roar?" Luca giggled.

Their playful exchange briefly alleviated the frantic pounding in my heart. However, despite the casual exterior, I couldn't shake the question from my thoughts.

Was it all just a rehearsed performance, with the charming billionaire pretending to be a hero for my son's sake?

While observing them, I felt a peculiar sense of ownership. I should not be feeling like this. I hardly knew this man, but I had heard about him before. Still, the way his eyes wrinkled at the edges while smiling at Luca, the way his voice became gentler, it was...disarming.

At that moment, Luca faced me with a furrowed brow. "Mom?" Why are you looking sad?" He asked.

"I'm not feeling sad, my dear," I managed to smile. Slightly taken aback.

Luca, content with my response, went back to playing his game with Alessandro. Taking advantage of the distraction, I moved away, creating the necessary space between me and the tempting allure of Alessandro Moretti.

His jaw muscle twinged, his amusement shifting to a deeper emotion. He moved closer with deliberate, unhurried steps, his strong presence noticeable in the air.

"There's no need to run, Bianca." His tone darkened into a quiet growl as he brushed his thumb against my lip. His intoxicating cologne wafted into my nostrils. "I'd like to see where this leads us.”

He gently held my face in his palm, his touch causing a chill to run down my back. His gaze trapped me, a tempest swirling in its depths.

"My little fire. The little amber in your eyes looks tempting." He murmured, his voice filled with unexpressed longings, as his eyes lingered on mine. "I can't wait to see when it finally ignites. Tempting..."

My mouth was slightly agape, as he made me yearn for him.

He leaned in and kissed me passionately again, his lips touching mine. It was a brief contact, a suggestion of a future, something that was not allowed. He moved back, leaving me breathless.

"See you later, Bianca," he said, a faint smile appearing on his face. He blinked at Luca before departing, leaving me feeling unsettled and unsure.

Luca pulled on my hand, his eyes full of innocence and curiosity. "Mommy, who is the gentleman?"

I gazed at Alessandro's departing figure, still savoring the taste of his kiss on my lips. At that instant, I was certain my meticulously crafted life had permanently changed.

BIANCA'S POV The next day arrived with a heavy sense of dread. I was in my personal space, which was different from my atelier and my office where Darren, my assistant and best friend, worked. I didn’t want Darren to see Matteo because they would surely have a brawl if they crossed paths. I was unable to get rid of the unease I felt while I waited for Matteo’s arrival. I was curious. Why did he suddenly want to speak with me? Why did he sound so... unusual? The silence in the room was broken by the sound of the doorbell. RICARDO’S POVThe man I was a year ago would probably hate me now—or at least laugh at how far I’d fallen.Standing in the warm kitchen of the villa, with the scent of fresh herbs and garlic wafting through the air, I stirred the pot of sauce absentmindedly. Linda was sitting at the island, flipping through some magazines and occasionally humming to herself. She looked up every now and then to check on me, smile always at the ready.“I still can’t believe you cook,” Linda said, her voice lilting with playful disbelief as she rested her chin on her palm. She sat at the island like it was her throne, watching me work.“You’ve known for months,” I replied without looking up, though I couldn’t stop the slight twitch of a smile tugging at my lips.“Knowing and believing are two different things,” she said dramatically as if the mere thought of me wielding a spatula were too much to process. “I mean, come on. THIRD PERSON POVLinda stared at the bouquet in her hands, utterly baffled. Roses, hydrangeas, and something that looked suspiciously like a baby's breath. It was the kind of bouquet people bought when they were trying to make a statement. The most ridiculous part was that her fans hadn’t been the ones to send it to her.She glanced up at him, her brooding, possibly homicidal boyfriend — he had become less homicidal, she had to give that to him — standing there like he hadn’t just handed her the boldest floral arrangement she’d ever seen.“You bought me flowers?” she asked, her voice laced with disbelief. His sharp, dark eyes flicked to her, then away, as though he were scanning the room for an escape route. His usual cool, unshakable demeanor had cracked just enough to reveal the faintest hint of discomfort. “Yes.”Linda squinted at him, holding the bouquet to her chest like he might snatch it away. “Are you dying?”“No.”“Did you do something terrible and now you’re trying to soften

RICARDO’S POVThe soft hum of the phone ringing cut through the tension in the air. I was elbow-deep in chaos, surrounded by the thick stench of gunpowder and the distant, muffled screams of men who were just realizing that their time was up.My team and I had spent the last few hours cleaning up the mess of corrupt gangsters who thought they could cross me. The usual mix of quick punches, fast moves, and lethal precision had done the job, but as always, it was the aftermath that lingered.I swiped my phone from the back pocket of my jeans, not even checking the ID. The ringtone was familiar enough; she had forced Rises the Moon on me herself, so I knew who it was. My lips involuntarily quirked as I lifted the phone to my ear.“Go for Ricardo,” I said coolly, stepping over the body of a man who’d decided to fight rather than run. “What’s up?”“Hey, you!” Her voice came through the phone, a little cracked but still unmistakable; the reception in the shitty warehouse couldn’t keep me fr

BIANCA’S POVI adjusted my blazer, glancing at Darren with a calm expression as we approached the visitor’s room. I’d been prepared for this moment, mentally rehearsing every word I’d say, ever since the beautiful day of his and the Dobres' downfall. Darren walked beside me – sauntered really – with the countenance of someone ready to kill a man. I would have liked to complain, but his protective presence was a comforting reminder that I wasn’t facing this alone. When we entered, Matteo was already there, sitting stiffly in one of the chairs. His once-pristine suit looked worn, almost threadbare, and there was a shadow of desperation in his eyes that hadn’t been there when he was the man I’d once known. The air of arrogance he used to carry was gone, replaced by something much smaller, much weaker.“Matteo,” I greeted evenly, my voice giving away nothing. I didn’t sit; he wasn’t worthy of being in a room where I was also seated in. Instead, I stood tall, my gaze unwavering as I let hi

BIANCA’S POV Three months later, I was halfway through drafting an email when the door to my office cracked open. “Mommy, can I come in?” Luca’s voice rang out, all sweetness and patience that I knew wouldn’t last long. I looked up from my desk to see my six-year-old poking his head around the door, his brown curls slightly mussed from running around. Behind him, Alessandro leaned casually against the doorframe, his usual composed demeanor tempered by the amused smile playing at his lips. “Are you alone?” I teased, arching a brow. “Or are you bringing trouble with you?” Luca giggled and stepped in, revealing Lazarro trailing behind him. The ten-year-old was holding a bag that looked suspiciously like it contained illegal items, but he was a ten-year-old, how much trouble could he bring along? “Trouble is relative,” Alessandro quipped, stepping into the room and pressing a kiss to the top of my head. “And you’re the king of it,” I shot back with a smirk. Luca climbed onto my lap

ALESSANDRO’S POV“Looks like the future’s here,” Bianca murmured in reference to what the patriarch had said before, her voice dripping with mock sympathy. Her gaze was fixed on the Dobre patriarch, whose previously smug composure now seemed on the verge of crumbling.I tilted my head slightly and slipped a hand around her to bring her closer, unable to resist. “What a shame it’s not the one they envisioned.”Darren sauntered over with a large smile on his face, and I could relate to him. He had been wanting to release the information about Matteo for such a long time, and I was certain it felt like a balm on his wearied soul to finally enact revenge against the scum.“Showtime,” he said, just loud enough for us to hear. The crowd was awash with murmurs and people whispering loudly, clearly intending to target the Dobres and make sure they heard their speculations. Lumari was confused, Samuel was furious, and Toria was trying to play the good wife. The negative energy in the room had

ALESSANDRO’S POVI leaned against the marble pillar, my fingers drumming idly on the rim of my untouched champagne glass. The evening was a disaster. Not the catastrophic, bloody kind of disaster I was used to handling, but the sort of slow-burn chaos that made me wish I’d missed the whole spectacle in the first place. And of course, it all started with Giovanni. My younger brother’s camera crew was bustling around the room, shoving microphones and lenses into the faces of people who, mere minutes ago, had been dignified power players. LIMARI’S POVThe conversation had become a tangled mess of pleasantries, small talk, and carefully crafted smiles. It was all just so… predictable. I could feel the eyes on me, but not in the way I wanted. Tonight was supposed to be mine—mine to shine, mine to be the center of attention. I had worked hard for this, after all. I was the newest Dobre, the woman Samuel had chosen, the one who would help bring the family into the new age. I wasn’t just attending this gala; I was the gala. And yet, despite everything, my heart still thudded uneasily in my chest. The sensation wasn’t from Samuel, who stood tall beside me, a constant presence as calm as ever. No, the feeling came from Ricardo, Ricardo of all people, who, of course, had shown up looking effortlessly handsome, as though he hadn’t even tried.
