No thrill in defying Gavin

My grip on my purse weakened, my heart dropped, racing slightly.

"What does he want?" I managed to ask.

Did he already find out I was with Greg? Was he stalking me?! Tracking my every move?

"It must be about work, don't worry about it."

"You can come with me if..."

"No," I replied quickly, "I still have a lot of things to do at the office," I lied.

As Greg entered his car, I swallowed with the urge to say, "Please don't tell him I'm here."

Instead, I stood there, frozen, watching his car gradually disappear from sight.

A strange chill crept over me, and I couldn't shake the feeling that everything was happening too fast.

I was mistaken, there was no thrill in defying Gavin. It felt like I was asking for his wrath instead.

That I could handle, but what if he extended his wrath to Greg? I mean, he was the devil of Darion Town for a reason.

I took out my phone, pacing around restlessly. My hand hovered over the screen.

Finally determined, I clicked on his number.
