I repeated the short chant thrice, just to make sure I didn’t miss a thing.

Soon, my entire body was bursting with power like I’d never experienced and I found myself fearlessly marching towards the giants—or at least the few that were left after the others had met the Vaughn men’s wrath.

My hands were suddenly holding flames that I could wield as a weapon, and despite how much of an upper hand that gave me, I felt my courage shrink when I came face to face with a giant. He was huge and intimidatingly tall and I suddenly wanted to shrink into a hole.

That foolish hesitation of mine gave him an opportunity to push me to the ground with a simple flick of his gigantic thumb to my forehead. Then he hovered over me, watching me like I was a familiar sight even though we’d never crossed paths.
