Walking out of the board room with another international talent signed to my company meant my net worth had risen yet again.

“Brilliant presentation,” Mr Santos, the talent manager shook my hand firmly.

Just as the foreign investors trailed out of the board room and began to engage me in a conversation, my secretary slipped me my phone and I glanced at it out of habit.

However, two notifications from Scarlett caught my eye and from simply looking at it something in my guts alerted me of its urgency and I walked away from the men clamoring for my attention after simply holding up a finger; the universal signal for ‘excuse me’.

After unlocking my phone, I saw a missed call from Scarlett, followed by a voicemail. I quickly played the voicemail, pressing the speaker to my ear.

“Help!” I heard her frantically scream, sounding like she was crying while panting heavily, and from the shattering sound that followed, I could tell that her phone had dropped.
