161: True Feelings

LOGAN

The pool was pretty deep, so my heart shattered to bits when I spotted Scarlett at the bottom of it.

As I saw the state she was in, my chest began to close and judging from the fact that I was holding my breath and how little time I’d been in the pool, I knew it wasn't directly happening to me but an extension of the pain Scarlett was feeling.

I swam faster towards her but the pain kept worsening by the second and I could feel her life slipping away through the mate bond.

The pain I’d felt weeks ago when her touch saved me paled in comparison to the pain of feeling the bond slowly being severed because my mate was hanging unto her life by a thread. But this time, I allowed the pain to fuel my determination to save her rather than be the reason I lost her.

My wolf gave me as much strength as he could muster and I forced myself to swim towards her and gather her limp body in my arms before swimming to the surface and placing her on the floor.
