101: Ruined

SCARLETT

It felt like my soul had left my body, all that was left of me was a shell of who I once was.

In that moment, staring at the screen where my greatest shame had been captured, I was dumbfounded and completely in disbelief. Over and over, I’d dreamt about the day when everything would catch up to me, when everyone would know me for what I truly was, and I badly needed this to be nothing but that recurring nightmare.

When it didn’t seem to be a figment of my imagination, indescribable shock gripped me. My heart was thumping so fast that I thought it’d rip past my chest and burst. And I would prefer that, to fade into nothingness instead of living in this dreadful reality.

But since that didn’t seem possible, I settled for going on the defensive, not that there was much to defend.

“Look,” my voice came out croaked and broken, “I can explain, okay? None of this is… I—I didn’t… I tried to…” my lips started to tremble when nothing sensible came out.

My brain seemed to have hibernate
