A man sat in the bar of a big club, his hand constantly brought his glass of shaken margarita to his lips. He looked so oblivious to what was happening around him and doesn’t seem to take interest in the dancing bodies around him nor half naked waitress and totally naked stripers that were dancing on the stage with poles. He lifted his glass once more and took a long sip, draining the content of the glass immediately and passing the glass to the waiter in front of him for a refill.
A hand slammed on the table, and he noticed someone standing beside him, “hello James, what’s up?” a blonde haired man asked, he looked slightly tipsy and he had his hand wrapped on the shoulder of a black haired beauty that was dressed in short leather skirt with a tank top and knee level leather boots. She was cooing in his arms and giggling, she too looked tipsy.
James, the bartender smiled to him with a slight bow, “I’m good
Ava stood beside her window and staring into the garden and the beautiful flowers there. She heaved a deep sigh and closed her eyes, breathing in the fresh air of the day. She couldn’t believe that two years has passed by already, it still feels like yesterday that everything was happening. She could still remember him, she could still remember his eyes, the intensity of it, the brightness and intelligence of it and most importantly, the way it looks upon her and how it makes her feel.Sometimes she wonders where he was and what he could be doing but what plagues her more is the thought if he thinks about her as well, if he craves for her touch just as she craves for his. If he misses her just like she misses him, if he dreams of her like she often dreams of him. She knew he never loved her, but once in a while she often wishes and hopes that maybe somehow, she had stolen a piece of his heart. She was not asking for all, just a piece, a little piece that w
Ava returned to her room after her father left her at the dining table like he always does. She had lost her appetite even before going over to the dining so when he left, she didn’t have to pretend that she was enjoying the meal and just pushed the plate aside and left the area. Falling on her bed on her back, she picked a pillow and hugged on her chest while staring at the ceiling. Her mind drifted in and out of what the night would be like and even though the party was for her, she wasn’t looking forward to it.Left for her, she would prefer if her father would arrange his jet for her to take her to Mexico, she would love attending one of their parties again and what’s more fun is the fact that she would be able to sing along and understand any song they sang. Just as she has been practicing her Spanish, she has also been listening to a lot of their songs and Dolores had been so kind to teach her some dance moves. The woman is a pure oriental woman and sh
It was hard going about the day after hearing such a story. Ava has always known the woman had a bad story but she never knew it was sad as well, so sad that it makes her feel sorry for her and him. So many times she had wished there was a way to help the woman and if possible tell her that her son was alive and he was the one she had asked her about the early times they knew each other but she had decided against that immediately. She can’t tell her that, first of all, she needs to find a way to contact Lucian, she still has not forgotten how he reacted the day she had mentioned about his mother not training him in basic etiquette. Now thinking about it, she believes she knows why he reacted like that.Who wouldn’t hate his mother after pleading with her not to leave him and even going as far as telling her that she was the only light in his darkened world and at the end, she still left him. Who wouldn’t hate his mother after going through so much for her,
Hearing that question, that voice, series of emotion flashed through Ava: Pain, anger, bliss, longing and most of all, hope. She froze, her fingers tightening on the handrail. She closed her eyes, wishing it was a dream and at the same time, not a dream. She opened her eyes and turned, expecting to see him, to see his beautiful face but what she saw was a red mask with horns. The sight scared her that she took a step back with a leap in her heart, that was definitely not what she expected to see.“Scared?” he asked, taking a step towards her now.Ava was speechless, she had almost wanted to believe that she heard wrong and he wasn’t the one, but hearing his voice again told her he was the one but why would he be wearing such a hideous mask? “What are you wearing?” she ended up asking when she got her soul back.“Oh cariño, there is this thing about masquerade ball, it’s a chance to see people as they truly are. Al
Drago retreated to his study room trying to conceal his anger from the guests watching him. Turned out there was no fire and after calming the situation, Ava was nowhere to be found. He wasn’t a fool and he needed no one to tell him that the fake fire alarm was a set up to cause commotion. He can’t believe that right under his nose; his daughter has been kidnapped again. He took off his mask and flung it somewhere on the wall, paying no mind to the crashing sound that followed after.“I pay you, every month, all of you! But none of you, absolutely none of you can protect my daughter!” he slammed his fist on the table nosily, and every person in the room flinched in fear. “Who saw her last?” he demanded angrily. All eyes turned to the bodyguard that had followed Ava to the balcony, “sir, I…I saw Ms trying to leave the party when you were chatting with the Morningstar’s.”“And?”&ldquo
Ava stuck her face to the window throughout the four hours flight, she didn’t look at the man sitting opposite her. She loved the sight of Mexico early in the morning. It should be around six in the morning and the whole city was still asleep. Details of what happened in her past visit flashed in her mind and she found herself wishing it would be just as fun or even more.“Aren’t you tired?” she heard and finally took her face from the window to the man sitting opposite her.“No,” she replied.“We would be landing soon and you haven’t gotten any sleep, you sure you won’t be tired?” Lucian asked. He just wants to make conversation; he was tired of watching her stare out the window. He doesn’t understand what was wrong with him, when she had entered the jet with Antonio and with how they were holding hands and chatting all smiles, he had felt an unbearable pain and he was pushed to putting a bullet
There were tears in Ava’s eyes by the time she was done with her speech. She did blame him for her mother’s death but she had stopped sometime ago, knowing that what he did was just his work, he wasn’t the one that wished her dead, he only carried it out and took money for it. But why she yelled at him for it surprises her, perhaps is because of the fact that he kept toying with her emotions. Never in her life has she expected that when she sees him again that it would be in the same situation that she met him. Never in her life did she expect that he would be kidnapping her again to deliver to some man.Guess hearing him confirm it in the car last night and taking the whole night to process it aggravated her. For goodness sake, she loves him, but rather than return her love or just let her be, he kidnapped her to deliver to someone and is now giving her the kind of vacation she had always wanted. She had learnt from Antonio that he has no job to do here, wh
Ava couldn’t believe what she heard, what is he saying, that he feels the same way for her or is it that he is just drunk and don’t know what he is saying? A tear slipped from the corner of her eye and fell on the pillow just as she felt his breath on her neck. Lucian traced his nose from her neck to her cheek and then with his hand, turned her face to him before covering her lips with his. He felt at peace at the contact with her lips, his troubled heart felt at peace as he deepened the kiss, wanting to feel every part of her more. His hand left her chin to caress her cheek and that was when he felt the liquid. He let her go then and released her lips, he stared at her and realized that her eyes were tightly shut and she was sobbing softly. He felt ashamed of himself, her words to him only but few hours ago flashed back in his mind. ‘Tie me up or take advantage of me?’ Heaven knows he didn’t want to do that but he had just missed her so
Ava survived the shot and it was discovered that she was pregnant but she lost the baby. Lucian had gone to Nikolai’s carcass and emptied his barrels on him, wishing he could bring the man back to life only to kill him again.Ava had introduced him to Dolores when she came to visit her in the hospital and the poor woman had cried like she had never cried before. She also revealed to Lucian that she had come looking for him but they never let her see him. Even when he was in the hospital, they didn’t let her go in and check on him and she often sleeps outside the hospital, hoping they would allow her to see him one day.Lucian recalled when he woke up he had heard the nurses talking about a woman often sleeping outside the hospital. So, it had been her? He remembered when he asked his boss then if he could see his mother and he had said that why would he want to see the woman that left him and have never come to see him even though he was in the hospital. It
Lucian followed Drago to his private jet, he had called Antonio on the way to meet him in Philadelphia. As they boarded the jet, everyone gathered to draw out a plan for it needs to be carried out tonight. According to Lucian, he didn’t want Ava to spend another night in the clutches of Nikolai. After every plan has been made, everyone left to prepare themselves and Lucian occupied the window-seat, staring out to the midnight sky, wishing and praying Ava was safe and that she doesn’t give up on him or on him saving her.Someone cleared his throat and he looked up to see Drago. Drago sighed and removed his cowboy hat before sitting opposite him. “I heard you were pretty angry when you left and that Ava ran after you, shouting for you to wait but you didn’t. And that left me wondering, that was so unlike you and unlike the news I have been hearing of you of late.” He glanced at him, “what happened between you two, what did she do?&rdqu
“Lucian!” he heard a faint voice shouting his name, “Lucian, get up Lucian,” the voice continued but it was faint and his head was throbbing in pain. He groaned and wrapped his hands on his head to numb the pain. “Get up from there, Lucian, what are you, a woman?” the voice taunted and that forced him to open his eyes —despite the pain— to know who dares talks to him like that. His vision was blurry and he could see a blurred shape, he blinked to clear his vision and he watched as the blurred shape formed into Drago Moonstone’s face. He shut his eyes tightly and groaned once more.“Get up from there, Lucian,” Drago ordered again. It was at that time that Lucian wondered what he was doing there, or rather where he was. He opened his eyes again and glanced around, he was lying in the middle of what appears to be a road and Drago was kneeling beside him. “Where…where am I?” he aske
“Alejandro she is sorry, she is in pain. She needs you,” Ava cried when he turned to walk out of the room clutching onto his shirt.Lucian stopped by the door and snorted, “pain? What do you know as pain, Ava?” he turned to look at her, “when you are missing someone and they are not there? Or when you had to stand at your mother’s funeral?” he shook his head, “that is not pain; let me tell you what pain is. Pain is when you had an accident running after the woman you called mother, and all you heard in your consciousness was her telling you how sorry she was, something that haunts you every night because you woke up in the hospital hoping to see her but she was not there. Pain is when you had to live with unknown men who locked you up in a dark room filled with hungry mice who chew at your skin bit by bit all because you didn’t get something right. Pain is when you had to sit down at thirteen and let grown up women rape yo
The days in Panama were slowly climbing their way into Ava’s favorite days. She didn’t know what she loved the most, the fact that Lucian took her places and made sure she had fun or the fact that he joined her in everything she did. It was both romantic and peaceful and she didn’t want to leave. Lucian was opening more to her, gradually telling her about his childhood but always referred to his mother as her. They had only one more day to spend in Panama and Ava wants to introduce him to his mother when they get back to Las Vegas and to do that, she has to let him know that she lives in her house. And so, she decided to come clean with him today and if worse comes to comes, they would use the rest of tomorrow to make up before Antonio arrives on Monday. She walked to the balcony and watched Lucian having a swim in the glass pool, she smiled and leaned on the handrails, watching him and also thinking about how to start the conversation about his mother which
The flight to Panama was as smooth as it can be although Ava couldn’t watch through the windows as she did when going to Mexico because someone refused to let her leave his private room. As the jet landed, she was already staring at the window and giddy as a schoolgirl to start with her touring. “Alright cariño, lets go, trust me you will enjoy it better when you are out than staring through a window,” she heard Lucian behind her and turned, smiling to him.“I know I would,” she winked and went to the doors as Antonio opened it, she climbed down the stairs, loving the mistiness of the morning. She closed her eyes and twirled around, she had read about this place and had longed to come here, she couldn’t believe that finally she was going to have her dream come true and that she would end up visiting with the very man that made her want to visit the place.“Are you done circling or can we get into the car now?” Luci
Ava dropped the fork she was about to put in her mouth, her shock was not far from her expression, “what did you just to say?” she asked to be sure.“How would you feel going to Panama?” he repeated.“Like are you being serious right now?”“Very.”“Oh my God,” she screamed, placing her tray of food on the bed and jumping on him, not minding the clashing sound of his plate on the floor. She kissed him so deeply that Lucian felt his body responding to her immediately. “You better not be joking with me Lucian or I will put a bullet in your brains.”He chuckled and kissed her again, “I have a lot of things planned out for us. We can have fun running by the sea shore and tasting all the sea foods.”Ava smiled as she remembered he just quoted her two years ago at the hotel restaurant, “I think that would be really amazing.”“I’m glad
‘I am yours Ava, if you will have me,’ the words repeated in Ava’s mind as she stared at the sleeping man beside her. A smile graced her lips as she thought about it all, he has confessed to her in his own way. Though he didn’t end it with ‘I love you’ like other romantic books or some men would but his words was on par with the L word. He has literally sold himself to her, and of course she would have him, if she doesn’t then who else would she? This is something she has always wanted, something she often dreamed about and now finally, it’s happening. No wonder he was extra gentle this time, he booked a room for two lovers on a vacation and he filled the wardrobe with clothes for her. He gets sad when she yells at him and…she sighed, her hand slowly reaching out to wipe out a strand of hair from his face. He looked so peaceful at sleep, nothing like the dangerous man he is. He said he was not a regular man but w
If Antonio was holding a drink, Ava knew he must have dropped it with a clashing sound with the way he was staring at her now. “What did you just say?” he asked many seconds later.“You heard me Antonio,” she said.“Listen,” he grabbed her hand rather forcefully and Ava was surprised for it was actually the first time he had ever treated her like that. “And I mean listen to me carefully Ava, never in this life or the next if you ever want to live mention that name to Lucian’s hearing or even make him know that you have met her. Do you understand me? Ava, Lucian can forgive you of anything you do to him but never bring that woman’s memories to him, he loses it, in fact if you survive just by mentioning ‘your mother’ to him in a sentence then you are just pure lucky. Do you understand that? You have seen the way he behaves; he literally becomes his name at the mention of her name whether she was addressed
