Lucius pov

“She’s getting there. See, I told you she would come around and it’s already happening. Baby steps, Lucius, baby steps.” Xabat suddenly spoke up.

All I did was stay quiet and wait for an answer, but his sudden input managed to build more hope in my heart than I deserved and dared to have.

The only thing I needed was for Eden to give this a chance. To give us a chance.

Who knew, maybe if we spent more time together, she would realize just how good we fit together, how we could improve each other as a person and make each other's lives better.

“I believe doctors wouldn’t object if you don’t need to stay here for more observation and you would promise to sleep. And I mean actually sleep, not sneak out of the bedroom and disappear,” Eden finally spoke.

I wanted to laugh at the snarky tone she was using, but held back. After all, I deserved the attitude. She was right. I got worse only because I didn’t listen and thought that I knew better than medical professionals did.

Lucius povI woke from Eden stirring and whimpering in my arms. “Did I hurt you?” I blurted out the words even before I could understand what I was saying. “No, it’s hot and I feel like if I won’t get out of the bed, I will pee all over you,” she whispered. “I wouldn’t mind. Let her mark her territory,” Xabat interjected. I barked out a laugh at his words and released Eden. She didn’t run to the bathroom as I expected. Instead, she sat up, looking as uncomfortable as ever and stared at me as if I just grew another head. “What?” I asked through the laugh. “Why are you laughing at me?” She sounded serious and a little concerned, but I just waved her off because there was no way I would ever tell her what the beast just announced. “Why not? Tell her!” Xabat growled at me, making me laugh even harder. I could only imagine the look on her face if she heard his thoughts. Seeing that I won’t stop laughing for a while, Eden slid out of the bed and walked to the bathroom. I used the mom

Lucius pov“Shower it is,” Eden giggled and pushed me away from her. I stood aside like an idiot as I watched her hop off the counter and grab the bottom of the shirt she was wearing. Eden didn’t pull it over her head just yet, she looked at me and raised an eyebrow as if she wanted to ask me if I was planning to join. Shaking my head, I managed to get back to my senses. “Yeah, right, I’m joining,” I muttered and hurried to turn on the shower. “Can you turn around and avoid looking at me until I get in the shower, please?” She asked. I glanced over my shoulder just in time to see that beautiful blush cover her cheeks and nodded. “Sure thing.” Eden looked like a massive weight fell off her shoulders when I agreed. First, I backed away from the shower once I checked the temperature of the water was fine. Then, I turned around to give her privacy. As much as I understood why she needed this, I wondered how she expected for us to take the shower together, if she was so shy of me, s

Lucius povI froze. I bloody froze and stared at her as if Eden had just hung the moon for me. The thing was that no matter how much I already adored and desired her, the feeling in my chest intensified as soon as she muttered those magic words. All my life, I hid away from everyone’s eyes, fearing that I was the cursed one who would never get the chance to enjoy what true love meant. But here she was, right in front of me, looking at me as if I truly mattered. I was more than ready to take back every word I had shouted at the sky over the years. Every insult I threw at the Moon Goddess, every damn time I cursed her existence… After all, she didn’t deny me the only thing I had ever truly desired to find. The look in her eyes spoke more than a thousand words. The words that would be nothing but empty promises compared to the silence that surrounded and hid us from the word. Although we stood in the shower with no other intention, both of us being naked and watching each other as w

Eden pov“What?” I shouted, effectively startling every man in this massive room. I didn’t intend to react like this, it just happened. Just a brief moment ago, I noticed how mutilated Lucius' flesh was and now, someone was claiming there had been an attempt on his life? What on Earth was happening here? The King was a mystery, how did anyone figure out how to get close to him, and most importantly - why? Why would anyone try to kill my mate? “Eden, my love, let’s sit down first and then, we can get to the bottom of this,” Lucius urged me toward the end of the massive table and sat in the chair at the end of it. I was about to take a seat next to him, but instead, he pulled me on his lap and muttered, “a personal throne for my Queen.” No one besides me seemed bothered by his behavior. I understood intimacy for as long as it wasn’t a public matter, and honestly, even sitting on his lap felt intimate. “So, where do we begin with this?” Lucius spoke up as soon as all the men took th

Eden pov“That might be a problem,” Lucius groaned. “Moles are all over the place. Always have been and always will be, so that's something we just have to live with. Keep in mind that it doesn’t matter how good of a leader the King is, there always will be someone who doesn’t like something. Out of a hundred people, at least one will want to rebel. However, having a Council member as a mole is what makes this situation extremely tricky.” Since Lucius spoke with finality I hadn’t heard from him before, I decided it was for the best not to question him more. But while I avoided asking something, I had an idea I could toss at him. “How about we test it? I mean, I understand you can’t just toss accusations at the Council, but we could think of something as a test to see if my suspicions are correct. For all I know, he might be having a bad day and hence the attitude.” I offered, once again, trying to get more comfortable in his lap. A loud, pained groan left him and I instantly froze.

Eden povThe rest of the meeting with the Council for the lack of better words was… uneventful. No one had left while Lucius and I discussed my suspicions. Even the man in question still stuck around. Weirdly enough, he changed his attitude halfway through the meeting, as if someone had tipped him off. By the time everyone left, I left like someone had sucked out the little joy I had left out of my life. While Lucius and Titus decided to stay in the office and talk about something, I wandered downstairs to the kitchen. Some snacks and sleep sounded like a dream come true. As soon as I rounded the corner and was about to enter the kitchen, I was stopped by voices, mentioning Lucius. Spying on people was bad, I knew it was, but I couldn’t help myself, so I pressed my back against the wall and listened. “She is no Queen of mine. I don’t care what the King says, I refuse to accept a lowly being like her and as someone who is meant to stand above me. At this point, I would rather see

Lucius povI acted like she had won this time. Technically, at least partly, she did. But what Eden didn’t know was that I already mind-linked Titus and gave him heads-up about the situation. As soon as I would let him know we both went back to the bedroom and Eden was busy, my best friend would get the workers out of the kitchen and ask them a few questions. In the meantime, we assured guards stood nearby if any of these people decided to try to run. While Eden was busy making sandwiches, I leaned against the doorframe and watched her. Everyone in the kitchen returned to their responsibilities, surely more tense than earlier. Every person kept glancing in my direction to check if I hadn't left. As if I would leave my mate here alone for the bait of these piranhas. This situation irritates me as much as it intrigues me. Listening to the things people talk behind my back did open my eyes a little. Although I knew that not everyone who smiled to my face had good intentions, I never

Eden povAs I watched how Lucius stormed after Titus, I couldn’t understand why both of them thought that acting like children at their age was okay. Then, I remembered the doctor’s words and cursed under my breath. That man-child was supposed to stay on bed rest, not chase his best friend around. Slowly, I set everything I was holding down and walked towards the door. Only I couldn’t leave since a woman with an ugly scowl on her face blocked my way out. At this point, I didn’t have to be a genius to know this had to be Mathilda. “Where do you think you are going, human?” She snarled at me. No one in the kitchen moved. All eyes were trained on me. This had to be the so-called ‘make it or break it’ moment for me. It was either I backed off and proved her she was right, or stood my ground and spat in that ugly soul. “There,” I said as I pointed my finger at the door. “Yeah? And why do you think you have the right to follow the King? He’s not here to protect you, in fact, nobody wo

Eden povI was beyond nervous as I tried to stop my hands from shaking while cutting up the vegetables. I hadn’t had enough time to figure out how to come clean with my family, but this really felt like the right time to do that. Lucius and Titus were probably already playing their guessing game about whatever they had done wrong and I wouldn’t disturb them doing that. Honestly, both of them have been acting like two hormonal teenagers these days, so they deserved a little adult worthy stress. As some of the kitchen ladies joined me and started up the usual conversations, I felt more at ease. However, every time when I glanced at the clock and saw the dinner time nearing, a new wave of unease surged through me. “Are you planning to prepare some desserts for little Magnus, my Queen?” Mayra asked, flashing me her usual bright smile. I hummed, thinking if sugar was a good idea right before bedtime. But then again, this dinner had to resemble sort of a joyful moment, so maybe it wou

§Three months after the wedding.§Titus povEden was officially ours and no one could do shit about it. Our journey had been nothing less than a deadly fucking rollercoaster ride, but the outcome was so worth it. Looking back at how things went, personally I went from thinking I wouldn’t find a mate, to finding one and being rejected, and finally, to finding out that my best friend and the woman I had grown extremely protective of were my own ‘it’. But best of all, I didn’t get only them. With them both came a family I didn’t dare to dream of and an awesome son. I didn’t tell Lucius and Eden, but if I had to choose, I would always choose Magnus. The little dude was awesome. At least sometimes he was.And now, while Eden and Lucius were busy running around the castle and fucking on top of every surface they could find, my little man Magnus and I were nearly done with building the most badass lego set ever. Well, we would be done with it ages ago if the little shit wouldn’t accuse m

Eden povThe next moment, Titus shoved me on the bed. Both my amazing mates, now husbands, didn’t return the favor they did when they were undressing me. Instead, they took off their clothes torturously slowly. Piece by piece, they dropped everything next to their feet and grinned at me like lunatics.Rolling my eyes, I groaned and turned to my side to mumble, “since you two are taking ages to undress, I might as well take a nap while you’re at it.” I knew I was playing with fire, but what was life without some spark in it? It didn’t take much time for both of them to grab my ankles and pull me to the end of the bed. Lucius instantly dropped to his knees and spread my legs. The moment his tongue ran between my folds, Titus’ lips captured mine in a passionate kiss. All of my moans were muffled and silenced by his tongue, tasing me and exploring every bit of my mouth. When Lucius slid his tongue lower, I bit Titus’ lip to break the kiss. “What?” He asked, breathless. “What is Luc

Eden povWith Richard and Magnus by my sides, I felt at ease. The door opened and the music started. As soon as we stepped on the beautiful white carpet laid down the aisle, Lucius and Titus turned their heads to look in our direction. The moment their eyes set on me, blinding smiles spread across their lips. I had never thought about my wedding day, but I never imagined that my husband-to-be would cry seeing me. In reality, I had two men who were ready to die for me, and both had tears in their eyes. As I slowly walked down the aisle, I couldn’t tear my eyes away from them. Both were wearing perfectly tailored suits, a rose in their pockets. And best of all, they were holding each other’s hand. When I finally reached them, Richard squeezed my hand, whispered, “I’m so proud of you,” and then held my wrist to offer my hand to Lucius. Magnus did the same, but he whispered that I looked beautiful and he would punch his dad’s asses if they hurt me. Richard and Magnus took their assi

Eden pov A week had passed since we returned home, like one, united family, better than ever. Lucius made it his life goal to ensure that my old pack had everything under control. As it turned out, the old Alpha was a liar, not a man of honor. He faked his disease to get rid of the responsibilities of leading a pack and while everyone worried about his health, the old Alpha lived a life of luxury. That, of course, was sponsored by the wealth left to me by my mother as well. Recently, the new Alpha and his Luna found out that the pack was nowhere near struggling financially even without my money. They had loads of cash hidden all over the place and multiple incoming money streams. We all agreed that it had to be the plan of the old Alpha and my step-mother. They had to have been planning to save up as much as they could, bleed the pack dry and take off. But as for us, our life was great. My mates were better than ever, Richard took it upon himself to bond with our son and b

Eden pov This was one of those moments when I really needed Kanox. I needed his advice or at least to hear his voice. While I had no idea what I was supposed to do, he would definitely have the answer. My eyes focused on the sick creature, wearing someone’s else’s skin as if that was no big deal. He looked human, but didn’t smell like one. Honestly, if he were to walk among other humans, I had little to no hope that anyone around him would understand that he was a sick, sinister creature, not one of their own. When he stepped so close I could smell a hint of sulfur on him, I realized he wasn’t just another supernatural. This was the first time I caught on the smell as well. “Will you first tell me the full story about my parents?” Clearly, he saw through me. I wanted to know, yes, but I also was using the question to stall, to win some time for my mates. “Of course, anything for you,” it said, grinning. I gulped, growing more nervous with every second that passed, but

Titus povI had no idea how Lucius felt about this, but what I found extremely fascinating was how the old man spoke about Eden. He sounded amazed and scared shitless at the same time. Sure, I wasn’t the best person to judge one’s character without massive amounts of information, but I could have sworn that he was just as clueless about what this ‘special’ trait was as we were. “And?” Lucius broke the silence, urging the old man to tell us more. The grunt that left him clearly was a proof of his unwillingness to tell us more, not that Lucius cared anyway. “Richard, we are done playing games. It is our mate you are talking about, Titus and I deserve to know what’s so special about Eden and exactly why that creature is after her.” My eyes darted between them two as I imagined an intense tennis match. The ball went from one side of the court to the other, never reaching the ground or the white lines surrounding them. At this rate, this imaginary match could go on for ages. “There a

Lucius pov“Where?” I growled the word as I stomped to him, grabbed his throat and squeezed it until I cut off his air supply. I trusted this fool. I trusted him with the safety of my mate and this is how it came out? He ran like a bloody coward while our mate was taken by some mad lunatic and brought Goddess knew where? Richard’s hands grabbed mine as he struggled to get out of my hold, but I had none of it. Whatever would happen next was out of my control - this time, I would allow Xabat take the fucking thing he loved almost as much as he loved our mates. Richard’s spine. Titus rushed to my side and carefully placed his hand on my shoulder. “Xabat, babe, let him go. Trust me, we need him alive. It wasn’t his fault. Don’t make this harder than it already is. Listen to what the old man has to say, maybe he has ideas where that fuckhead took Eden. We need the old man.” Honestly, I wouldn’t have released Richard. Ever. He had to pay for his carelessness and lack of attempts to save

Eden povMy eyebrows furrowed in confusion. I understood that this thing was on some weird quest because of my late mother, but why was her blood so damn important? While I was busy trying to figure it out, the creature snapped his fingers and suddenly, my eyes opened with ease. The weight was gone and nothing held me down, except for the restraints on my legs. “See, it wasn't so hard, was it?” It mocked me.My eyes scanned the dark room until they set on the black blob of nothingness in the furthest corner. I might be freaking dreaming because I could have sworn the thing was grinning at me. It had no mouth, no eyes, no limbs - nothing. And yet, I could feel his eyes on me and see the non-existent grin across the lips. “Do not worry, my lovely. I shall help you see me in a better light soon. You see, I have brought a friend with me. Trust me, you’ll love him. I chose him to fit your liking. I told you that I’ve been watching, haven’t I?” With that being said, the thing disappear
