The Connection

Richard has been waiting for Isabella to ask that question and finally, when she did, he didn’t delay with satisfying her with the answer.

“Gerald’s mother and I are related. We share the same parents.”

‘Huh?’ Invisible question marks appeared at the top of Isabella’s head. “How is that possible?” Since the five years that she’s been married to Gerald, no one has ever mentioned Richard. She never knew that he had a relationship with Gerald until today.

That was weird. If he was her mother-in-law’s younger brother, why were they not close?

“My parents had me in their 40s. I was more like a child born to look after them in their old age. They were trying for a girl and got me instead,” Richard explained with a smile, oblivious to her thoughts as the memories from the past eluded him.
