A Friend from the Past

“Don’t forget to take home one tier of the cake for your friends and Isla,” Richard reminded kindly with a smile.

“Oh, I won’t. Trust me,” Bella replied. It’s not like she wanted to be kicked out of her own apartment by her friends.

Quickly, Richard had someone package one tier of his birthday cake and gave it to Bella. “They will be happy for this.”

“If I knew you didn’t invite them to this dinner party, I would have asked you to bring them too,” Richard said, gazing at her with a small smile.

Bella didn’t want to explain further, so she just told him there wasn’t any problem with the arrangement. This was his party, and it wasn’t right for her to bring her friends along, especially when their relationship wasn’t public.

Luckily for Bella, she had such good friends who understood her situation.
