Chapter 100

Alita wished Benson would stop talking, even though she so loved his beautiful words. She just didn’t like the weight of attention that he had attracted to her. Everyone’s inquisitive eyes set on her and all she could do was close her eyes and wish she could disappear.

She had imagined a more official and appropriate scene in her head for when she would meet Benson’s mother. But again, life happened and ruin the beautiful picture in her head. Maybe after he had proposed and then told everyone, then they would schedule a meeting that she would dress and properly prepare.

Her closed eyes served as her palm over her face. She imagined how ugly she would be looking at that moment and feels more insecure: dry and swollen face, droopy eyes, bloody johnny gown, and oozing odor of injections and medicines. She remained silent, shutting her eyes as she felt Benson’s eyes crawl on her skin. “Stop staring,” she mouthed and Benson chuckled.
