Chapter 12 Don't Do Anything Stupid

Gu Baisheng ran along the road, and she recalled many things that happened to Bai Shengsheng.

A little girl hid under the bed, shivering and listening to the sound of Bai Dahai shouting at and beating Xia Juan.

Bai Dahai borrowed money at usury. When the loan shark came to their home and turned it upside down, pressing them for the payment of debt, Xia Juan and she were at home.

When she became older, Bai Dahai tried to brainwash her into being a gold-digger. He even advised her to be the mistress of a flashy businessman.

Xia Juan, as her mother, even tricked her into coming to a hotel room and almost made her be assaulted.

On thinking of these, Gu Baisheng thought this family was terrifying.

She couldn't get rid of them because she was their daughter now. They would definitely set her up if they found her.

The more she thought, the scared she became. So she took a bus to the hospital immediately.

But the bus she was on couldn't get to the hospital directly, so she had to change into another bus.

But the bus was halted before it arrived at the last stop.

She had to run to the hospital in the rain.

She was caught in the rain in the early spring. And she was so cold that she couldn't help breathing heavily.

When she arrived at Hu Hui's floor, she happened to see Mrs. Wang, Hu Hui's nurse, went out from her room covering her belly. It seemed that she was going to the bathroom.

Gu Baisheng gritted her teeth and pushed open the ward door in secret after Mrs. Wang left.

There was only a lamp shining in the room. And there was no one else in the room except for Hu Hui, who was holding her daughter's photo and staring at the ceiling.

She looked like a drowned rat. She quietly closed the door as soon as she entered the room, but she couldn't help sneezing loudly.

Hu Hui looked at her when she heard the sound.

When Gu Baisheng saw her looking in this direction, she shouted with excitement, "Mom!"

Hu Hui was very sensitive because she just lost her daughter.

When Hu Hui heard Gu Baisheng calling her mom, her eyes flickered right away, and she stared at the girl.

"You're not my Shengsheng... You're not..."

Hu Hui shook her head when she realized that it was not her daughter's face.

She started to cry again.

Gu Baisheng bit her lip and walked towards the sickbed when her mother denied who she was.

When Hu Hui was sure that it was not her daughter, she just ignored the visitor. She touched the photo in her hand with her fingers and couldn't help crying and talking to herself, "My Shengsheng was a good girl and wouldn't do anything to make me sad."

"I'm sorry, mom."

Bai Shengsheng's eyes started to tear up. She kneeled down by the bed and looked up at her mother's face.

Hu Hui didn't even glance at her, and she was so absorbed in her own world. "Shengsheng died alone. She must be so scared in heaven..."

Gu Baisheng started to cry too and whispered, "Yes, I'm so scared."

My body was not my body, and my family was not my family either.

And Hu Hui, her real mother, couldn't recognize her.

Now she had to be careful with the traps set by the Bai Family. She was indeed scared.

"Don't be afraid, Shengsheng. Mom is coming to you."

Hu Hui suddenly murmured.

Gu Baisheng sensed something wrong, so she looked up quickly. It was lightning outside.

And the lightning suddenly lit up the knife in Hu Hui's hand.

Gu Baisheng realized that her mother was about to stab herself in the chest. She couldn't do anything else to protect her in such an emergency.

She flung herself to her mother and held her tightly.

With a blunt sound,

the knife was stabbed in her back.

Gu Baisheng became unconscious for a moment due to the pain.

Hu Hui was shocked and let go of the knife out of fear. She looked at Gu Baisheng with her eyes wide open.

She bore the pain and looked at her mother. She consoled her mother with helplessness in her eyes, "Mom, don't do anything stupid."

When Hu Hui looked at her face, her dull eyes were suddenly filled with emotions.

The person who acted like a zombie suddenly came back to life.
