A heavy silence fell upon the room.

Tyrone’s deep gaze met Heather's eyes for a few moments before he finally spoke.

"Hattie, what do you think?"

The use of her nickname sent a shiver through Heather. Only her mother used to call her that. Tyrone had always addressed her by her first name. Yet now, his husky voice carried the intimacy of a lover's whisper which was almost flirtatious.

Despite the warmth in his tone, Heather detected a slight chill in his eyes. It was clear that he wasn't interested in hearing anything he didn't want to.

Just as she was about to respond, her eyes caught sight of a box on the nearby cabinet. It was an ancient ivory box, one of the many gifts Tyrone had given her. The weight of her debt to him suddenly felt heavy.

They were both adults, and she wasn't naive to miss the implications behind Tyrone's actions.
