Chapter 240

The plane touched down in Oakville. Craig had rented a car, so he and Heather made their way to the small town. By the time they reached, evening had settled in.

George's place was a dilapidated two-story building.

"He wouldn't have moved out, would he?" Heather asked. She frowned as her gaze fell on the dark windows. The building seemed unoccupied for a long time.

"I'll check," Craig said. "Stay here."

He went next door to inquire and soon returned with news. George was indeed staying here, but they were unlucky.

He had gone gambling three days ago, and he had a pattern of returning every five or six days.

Heather furrowed her brows. "Didn't he gamble away all his relocation money in Royalton? Does he even have a job?"

Having investigated it, Craig replied, "I've asked around. George has lived here for over a decade, and no one has seen him work. Yet, he seems to have money. He often claims to be a gambling expert and says he's won a lot.
