At Donovan’s words, Boma’s body shuddered with dread.

“I swear, I won’t ever lie to you again.” She said desperately, the words leaving her mouth in a rush. “I promise that…”

“I remember saying that I don’t want to hear your voice.” He interrupted brusquely, silencing the torrent of promises that her mouth was running a mile a minute to make, fueled by her fear.

When the car reached the security gate, a bland looking but fit security guard in his late forties emerged from the security house close to the gate. He drew close to the gate and granted them entry upon seeing Donovan, who let down his side window and stopped just inside.

The man’s hands had come together in a sign of prayer, begging for Donovan’s attention, hence his pause.

After securing the gate, he hurried over to talk to Donovan. Boma kept to herself, facing her side window as she dreaded the coming moments. Still, she listened to the two’s conversation.
