Donovan continued to read the note, his eyes scanning every word.

'- I call you Papa because you have always been my provider as well as my protector. I also call you D because it feels intimate and close, a name just between us. And when I fall out of line, I call you Sir because that's your rule, and this is the part that I am most afraid of.

Hence, by the time you read this, I will not be here, because of what I've done. This is not a decision I made lightly but one borne out of necessity and desperation and most of all, fear. I hope you understand that I did not leave out of malice or rebellion, but because I am sorely afraid of the consequences of my actions.

You have always been a complex man—one who cares deeply, yet often shows it in ways that are hard for me to understand or accept. The punishment, the control, the confinement- it's been too much for me to bear. I have felt like a prisoner in our relationship, our marriage and I need to be free. I loved you deeply, Donovan. I

The night had settled into a tense quiet. Boma lay on the bed in Harry's apartment, unable to fall asleep. Surely, by this time, Donovan should have discovered her escape. Her mind was still racing with thoughts of him and the consequences of her actions. The room was dimly lit, casting long shadows on the walls, with only the faint sound of waves in the distance breaking the silence. Why hadn't Donovan contacted her? Maybe he had yet to discover her escape. Maybe he had, but was yet to react. She could not figure it out. She recalled her last escape. He had not contacted her immediately. And back then she didn't leave a note. This time she had poured out her heart in a note. He was so unpredictable. She didn't know what he would really do.She feared having to hide so much. How would she get to class? Exams were beginning soon. She and Teni still needed to do some revision. Her books were in her apartment. She left a few in Donovan's house. How would she study? How would Teni go abo

As Boma hesitated, her mind raced with possibilities. She couldn't outright lie, but revealing she was at Harry's place might provoke Donovan. She took a deep breath, hoping to find a middle ground."I'm not with my parents," she finally said, her voice steady. "But I am safe, Donovan. I'm staying with a friend who offered me a place to stay for a while. It's- it's a safe place."Donovan was silent for a moment, and Boma could feel the weight of his contemplation through the phone. She held her breath, waiting for his reaction."I'm afraid that's not good enough for me, Boma." He responded. "Picture this for a moment. Let's say I'm not around. You can't reach me for days, or even for a day. And you're called about my whereabouts, are you really going to be comfortable not knowing?"Even though he made sense, Boma didn't want to risk revealing the truth. "No, but this is different.""I disagree. Setting our differences aside, the fact remains that I don't know where you are. And I'm yo

Boma began pacing, her anxiety mounting with each passing moment. Harry tried to soothe her."You need to relax, Boma. Worrying won't help."She slowly sank onto the bed, her hands trembling. Harry excused himself. "I need to get ready." He said as he left her alone.Boma waited, her thoughts a whirlpool of dread. Soon, she heard a car pull up outside. Peering through the window, she saw six rough-looking men emerge from a Sienna, greeted by Harry. They spread out, taking strategic positions around the compound, while a few entered the house. She retreated from the window, alarmed. She had tried so hard to avoid a war, but it seemed inevitable.Confused and desperate, she wondered if she should call Donovan and warn him. She didn't want either man to get hurt. Finally, she dialed Harry’s number. He came to her without taking the call, sensing her need."Harry, please," she implored. "Promise me you won't harm Donovan."Harry laughed, his voice bitter. "Why are you laughing?" she ask

Donovan relieved her of her belongings, and Phillip stepped forward to receive them. Boma, overwhelmed and relieved by Donovan's understanding, hugged him tightly. He held her close, his warmth enveloping her."I'm sorry, I shouldn't have gone to Harry. I was just-""I understand your reasons," he gently said, relieving her of the need for explanations. "I'm just glad you found the courage to reveal your whereabouts. I'm glad you trusted me enough."They stayed close like that for a moment before disengaging."Now, where do you want to spend the night?""Um-" She began hesitantly, unsure."Feel free, Boma," he encouraged. "I've read and reread your words. I want to honor them because I love you. Okay?" She nodded in understanding."So just tell me where you want to spend the night, and we'll drop you off. After that, all I expect from you is to know where you're staying for this period of reflection between us. I won't bother you. It's one month apart. I'm willing to try and fulfill y

Standfast stayed in the car while Phillip proceeded to show them their room. Before they left the car, Donovan retrieved a fresh handkerchief from the glove compartment.Later, Donovan and Boma stood silently in the luxurious hotel suite, their emotions a turbulent mix of love, longing, and uncertainty. The room, with its elegant decor, felt both intimate and imposing, reflecting the intensity of their relationship. Donovan closed the door behind them, his eyes locked onto hers, a silent promise of what was to come.“Boma,” he said softly, stepping closer to her, his voice a deep, calming presence. “I want this night to be special, a memory to hold onto during our time apart.”Boma’s heart raced, her breath quickening. She nodded, unable to find her voice. Donovan’s hand reached out, gently cupping her face, his thumb tracing the contour of her cheek. His touch sent shivers down her spine, igniting a fire within her.“Do you trust me?” he a

ONE DAY LATERBoma was back in her apartment on the Island, trying to focus on her literature class with Teni. The apartment was filled with the soft hum of the air conditioner, the scent of fresh coffee drifting from the kitchen. Teni had embraced her plain friendship with Boma. She had even sneakily removed her spying gadgets from Boma’s apartment. She sat across from Boma, textbooks spread out between them, but Boma’s mind was miles away.No matter how hard Boma tried, she couldn't shake the memories of the passionate night she had shared with Donovan. The intensity of their connection, the way his touch had sent shivers down her spine, the whispered promises—it all replayed in her mind like a never-ending loop. She could still feel the warmth of his body, the roughness of his hands, the tender yet commanding way he had held her."Boma, are you even listening?" Teni's voice cut through her thoughts, bringing her back to the present. Boma blinked, trying to focus on her friend.

Three days before her exams, Boma invited Hilda over for a sleepover at her apartment. It had been a while since they hung out, and Hilda was happy to oblige. They spent the day catching up, cooking together, and watching television, still managing to take some time to revise their individual studies.Later, as they went to bed, sleeping beside each other, Boma noticed Hilda lost in thought."What is it?" she asked, concerned."What next after your one month apart?" Hilda replied, her voice thoughtful.Boma couldn't come up with any words."I thought as much," Hilda remarked. "This is just a vacation as far as I'm concerned. You will not really get the true picture of things.""What do you mean?" Boma asked, puzzled.Hilda sat up and made Boma join her so they faced each other. Hilda's expression was serious, making Boma pay attention."There's nothing different you're doing right now, Boma. You're not falling out of line. You're studying, staying indoors, and all that.""Yes, so?""

Standfast dialed Donovan's number, his heart pounding. He had to report what he had seen, but he dreaded the possible reaction. As the phone rang, he steeled himself for the conversation ahead.Donovan answered on the third ring, his voice groggy from sleep. "Standfast? What is it?""P.O, I’m sorry to call so late. And I do not mean to spark trouble but I need to report something," Standfast began, his voice steady despite his nerves. “Out of a sense of duty, I need to bring this to your attention now.”“Go ahead. I am listening.”"I saw your wife at the campus lecture hall tonight. She was with her friend, that former roommate of hers.”“Hilda?”“Yes. She was studying there with her, despite the previous incidents and your strict instructions."Donovan was silent for a moment, processing the information. Fury surged within him, but he took a deep breath, reigning it in. "I appreciate the information, Standfast," he finally said, his voice calm. "Don't worry about it. I'm aware of the

The Dark MeetingAmong the attendees were representatives from the minor cults on campus, including an all-female cult that had often operated in the background, carefully observing the landscape of power. Their leader, a sharp-eyed girl with an air of authority, stood to address the group. She recalled her altercation with the girl Donovan married. She had thought maybe Donovan would grow tired of her, but it was not happening. Also, she thought she had moved on, but the more she saw Donovan’s success, the angrier she got. She wanted his downfall over this and had orchestrated everything by getting all the rival cult groups together.“Look at him,” she sneered, her voice dripping with disdain. “Donovan thinks he’s some kind of hero, but we all know better. He’s just a fraternity member like the rest of us, and it’s time we remind him of his place.”As she turned off the video, the room fell silent. The atmosphere shifted, igniting the simmering animosity rising within the members. “W

He focused on the promises he made the school during his manifesto. One of his first initiatives upon resuming his role was addressing the issue of inadequate transportation on campus. The student body had long complained about the lack of school buses, leading to overcrowded rides and long waits. Donovan, refusing to let this linger any longer, called for a meeting with the university's management. Armed with facts, surveys, and the frustrations of his fellow students, he laid out his proposal: the school needed more buses, and the government had the resources to help. After hours of discussions, Donovan sent a formal proposal to the state government, making a strong case for why they needed to invest in the transportation system for the students. His tenacity paid off when his proposal was received positively, and a few weeks later, several new b

AFTER BOMA’S FULL RECOVERY The trauma from Boma’s ordeal with Harry was fading, thanks to Donovan’s gentle care and devotion. The school holiday was in full swing, and as promised, Donovan decided it was time for their honeymoon abroad. THE HONEYMOON Boma felt a mix of excitement and nerves as she sat beside Donovan on their flight. It was her first time flying, and though Donovan had wanted to book first class, she insisted on experiencing it in economy for her first time. Donovan agreed on the condition that their return flight would be first class. This way, she would experience both options. Boma accepted. Meeting each other halfway was becoming their norm, and Boma was beginning to enjoy the equality she had longed for. Donovan, always wanting to see her happy, indulged her wishes, adjusting to this new dynamic of negotiation in their relationship. His palm rested gently on her stomach as the plane began to take off. She breathed deeply, her eyes wide with a mix of fear

Ken said, causing him to pause."That bastard is not taking me seriously." He shouted. "Does he think I'm joking?" "No. But it's just his way to assert his power. You are still the one in power. You have the leverage, so calm down."Hearing that, Harry sank down on a chair. Ken followed suit as Harry called Donovan who picked up after the second ring. This delay also infuriated Harry. Donovan should be desperate, calling him all the time. "I will kill your wife by tomorrow if you've not resigned by 12:00pm." After what felt like an hour, the car finally slowed down, bumping along a rough road.Boma sensed they were far from the island, possibly near the city outskirts. God, where were they taking her?The car stopped, and her captors dragged her out. She heard nothing but forest sounds. Maybe they were at a cabin in the woods, she thought. Barely able to struggle, she was carried into a house. The creaking of boots on wood told her it was a wooden structure. A door lock clicked open, and she was carried inside. The air was stale, as if the place hadn't been aired out in ages. She heard a window opening, letting in some much-needed ventilation. Inwardly, she was grateful; she could have suffocated otherwise. Finally, they dropped her to the floor and removed her blindfold. She faced Harry. His gaze was cold, devoid of the compassion she once saw in him. He was a man consumed by envy and a thirst for power. She wanted to speak, to appeal to his better nature, but her lips were sealed.Fear

It’s about Boma."Hilda's voice, already laced with worry, deepened. "What’s going on, Presido?""I’ve been trying to piece together where she might be. The security guard saw her leave with someone in a black car. Do you remember anything unusual about her recently?"Hilda paused, thinking hard. "The last time we saw her was at the faculty block, and she was alone but was later joined by Harry. They went to check his exam results together."Donovan’s grip tightened on the phone. He remembered encountering her that day as well. He had even seen Harry's car as he left. "Harry? Are you sure?""Yes," Hilda replied. "We didn't like it and didn't think much of it at the time, but now- it worries me.""Thanks, Hilda. I’ll do all I can to handle it from here," Donovan said, ending the call abruptly. His mind raced, fury bubbling to the s
