Chapter 36

Donavon’s POV

Pregnant.

The word echoed in my mind as I paced my office, my hands shaking with a mix of anger and confusion. Zuri was pregnant. With my child.

It didn’t make sense. She had been nothing but a thorn in my side since she arrived, a constant reminder of the family I lost. And yet, the thought of her carrying my child sent a strange warmth through me—a feeling I quickly shoved aside.

There was no way I could trust her. Not yet.

I called for Hart, my jaw clenched as I prepared for another confrontation. When he entered, his face was calm, but his eyes held a spark of defiance.

“You’ve been helping her,” I said, my tone cold. “Why?”

Hart didn’t flinch. “Because she needed help, Donavon. And because you’ve been too blinded by your hatred to see what’s right in front of you.”

My temper flared, but I forced myself to stay composed. “Did you know about the pregnancy?”

Hart hesitated before nodding. “I found out recently. She didn’t tell me at first,

Chapter 37Zuri’s POV The night air was cold as I sat on the balcony of my temporary room in the pack house. The events of the day weighed heavily on me, my mind a whirlwind of emotions. I hadn’t expected Donavon to stand up to the elders like that. His firm declaration of my protection was so unlike the man who had treated me with such contempt before. But did it mean anything? Or was it just another play in his endless battle for control? A knock on the door broke my thoughts. I stood, hesitating briefly before opening it. Donavon stood there, his expression unreadable. “Can we talk?” he asked, his voice softer than I’d heard in a long time. I nodded, stepping aside to let him in. He walked to the center of the room, his gaze drifting briefly to my stomach before meeting my eyes. “We need to figure out what happens next,” he said, his tone measured. I crossed my arms, trying to steel myself. “What do you mean?” “This pack doesn’t forgive easily,” he began. “The elder

Chapter 38Zuri’s POVThe weight of Donavon’s words lingered in my mind long after the elders left the hall. His declaration was bold, reckless even. It put both of us under a harsh spotlight, but it also did something I never expected—it gave me hope.I spent the rest of the day avoiding him. Not because I was angry, but because I needed time to process. I couldn’t deny that something had shifted between us. He was still the same man who had tormented me, but now, there was a vulnerability in him, a desperation I hadn’t seen before.Later that evening, I found myself walking along the pack house grounds, the cool air helping to clear my head. I was so lost in thought that I didn’t notice someone approaching until they were right in front of me.“Zuri,” Javi greeted, his voice gentle.“Beta Javi,” I replied, offering a small smile.“You can call me Javi,” he said with a soft chuckle. “I think we’ve been through enough for formalities.”I nodded, my smile widening slightly. “What bring

Chapter Thirty NineZuri’s POVThe library had become my safe haven over the past few days. The scent of old books and the quiet comfort of solitude allowed me to sort through the whirlwind of emotions swirling within me.But tonight was different. Donavon sat across from me, flipping through a book with an expression of quiet concentration. It was strange seeing him like this—calm, almost human.“Do you always read in silence?” he asked, breaking the stillness.I looked up, startled by his voice. “It’s a library. Isn’t silence kind of the point?”He chuckled, the sound low and unexpected. “Fair enough. But it wouldn’t hurt to talk once in a while.”“What do you want to talk about?” I asked, closing my book.He hesitated, as though he hadn’t expected me to engage. “I don’t know... maybe you could tell me about your life before all of this.”I frowned, unsure if I wanted to share that part of myself with him. But something in his gaze, a flicker of genuine curiosity, made me relent.“M

Chapter 40Donavon’s POV I couldn’t shake the weight of Zuri’s words from my mind. “Maybe it’s not too late to fix it,” she had said. And for the first time in years, I wanted to believe her. But fixing things wasn’t going to be easy. The pack elders were still wary of my decisions, and the whispers of dissent among the pack members had not entirely died down. I called Javi to my office later that night. Despite our rocky relationship, he remained one of the few people I could trust to tell me the truth. “Javi, I need your advice,” I began, watching as he leaned against the doorway, arms crossed. He raised an eyebrow. “You’re asking for my advice? That’s new.” “I’m serious,” I said, my tone leaving no room for sarcasm. He sighed, stepping inside. “What’s on your mind?” “I need to rebuild the pack’s trust. They’ve seen me as a tyrant for too long. But I don’t know where to start.” Javi studied me for a moment, his expression unreadable. “Start by listening to them. Hear their

Chapter 41Donavon’s POV The rogue wolves shifted into their forms, their growls echoing through the night air. The tension was palpable, a storm waiting to break. I could feel the pack’s unease behind me, but I stood firm, my gaze locked on the leader of the rogue group. He grinned, sharp teeth flashing in the moonlight. “You’re outnumbered, Donavon. This is our land now.” I could feel the pack members’ fear, but I would not let them see it. My claws extended, my wolf’s power rising within me. I was Alpha, and no one—not even these rogues—was going to take what was mine. The rogue leader lunged first, and in an instant, I was on him, my claws sinking into his fur. He retaliated with a vicious swipe, but I dodged, spinning to land a blow to his side. The fight erupted around us, snarls and the sound of claws scraping against the earth filling the air. My pack fought back with everything they had, but the rogues were relentless. Zuri, standing beside me, was a force to be r

Chapter 42The weeks that followed were tense, filled with preparations for what was to come. Donavon’s leadership was tested daily as whispers of challenges and betrayals spread through the pack. His former enemies, the other Alpha leaders, were not far off, waiting for an opportunity to strike. The rogue attack had been only a prelude to a much larger conflict that was brewing in the shadows.Despite all the chaos, Donavon and I found solace in each other. The bond we had shared in the battle against the rogues was the same one that kept us grounded. We were no longer just two broken souls clinging to vengeance; we had become partners, our fates intertwined by the trials we had endured together. One night, after a particularly exhausting day, Donavon found me sitting alone on the balcony overlooking the forest. The moonlight reflected off the leaves, casting a soft glow on everything beneath it.“You should rest,” he said, stepping up behind me.I turned to face him, my eyes tired b

Chapter 43*Zuri's POV* The forest was quieter than it had been in days. The rogues were gone, but their presence lingered like a bitter aftertaste in the air. My heart ached for the ones we’d lost and for the ones who’d barely made it through. It wasn’t just their injuries that weighed on me—it was the tension simmering beneath the surface, threatening to break us all. I stood at the edge of the pack’s territory, the wind carrying faint traces of blood and ash. This wasn’t peace; it was a fragile silence, ready to shatter at the slightest provocation. My fingers tightened around the edges of my cloak as I stared into the distance, wishing for clarity that wouldn’t come. The sound of approaching footsteps pulled me from my thoughts. I didn’t have to look to know who it was. Donavon’s presence was as unmistakable as the heat that surged through me whenever he was near. “You shouldn’t be out here alone,” he said, his voice rough, the strain of the last battle evident in his tone.

Chapter 44*Donavon’s POV* The council room was suffocating, filled with the murmurs of discontented elders and pack leaders. Their voices clashed, each one fighting to assert dominance in the aftermath of the rogue attack. I sat at the head of the table, my hands clenched into fists beneath the polished wood. “The rogues’ retreat doesn’t mean we’re safe,” Elder Marlowe barked, slamming his palm on the table. “This was a calculated strike, and we barely survived it!” “We need stronger leadership,” Elder Corbin added, his beady eyes narrowing at me. “Leadership that prioritizes stability, not personal distractions.” The jab was as sharp as it was deliberate. I didn’t flinch, though my wolf growled low in my chest. They were testing me, pushing to see if I’d crumble under the weight of their accusations. “Enough,” I said, my voice cold and cutting. The room fell silent, the tension palpable. “We won the battle because of this pack’s strength and unity. Do not let fear cloud yo

Though recent days had brought hope and unity, the quiet of dawn carried with it a subtle disquiet. Shadows of the past, long thought to have been overcome, now seemed to whisper in the corners of the compound. It was in these uncertain moments that a few vigilant eyes began to notice the echoes of betrayal—small signs that something was amiss. In a narrow corridor near the strategy room, Kael and Rian walked side by side, their hushed voices barely audible over the soft patter of paws on stone. “Rian, have you noticed how some of the old habits seem to be creeping back?” Kael asked, his tone a mixture of concern and cautious suspicion. “There have been moments—brief glances, hushed exchanges—reminding me of the days when secrecy ruled our lives.” Rian’s eyes narrowed slightly as he replied, “Yes, I have. The promise of unity beyond their own borders stirred hope and determination in every wolf's heart.Inside the strategy hall, Donavon and Zuri gathered with their senior advisors and trusted lieutenants to review the final details of their diplomatic proposal. This opportunity, if seized, could pave the way for a united front against common external threats and further strengthen the bonds of trust that the Blue Moon Pack had so painstakingly rebuilt.Donavon’s deep
