Jolene's heart skipped a beat as the door to her chambers swung open and her sister, Zelda, came bustling in.

"Jolene, dear, I was worried when you didn't answer my calls," she said, a look of concern on her face. Jolene swallowed hard, trying to compose herself.

"I'm fine, Zelda, really," she said, forcing a smile. But Zelda didn't look convinced. "You don't look fine," she said, her voice gentle but firm.

"You look like you've seen a ghost." Jolene hesitated, not sure what to say.

Jolene's heart was racing as she looked at her sister, her mind racing. How could she possibly explain her fear and anxiety without telling Zelda the truth? She knew she couldn't lie to her sister, but she didn't know how to tell the truth either.

"Zelda, I..." she started, her voice faltering. Zelda stepped closer, putting a hand on Jolene's shoulder.

"It's okay, you can tell me anything," she said, her eyes full of compassion. "I'm here for you, no matter what." Jolene took a deep breath

what is going on here. it's like these last couple of chapters did a 180. all of a sudden maverick is acting crazy.
