SEVENTY.

We all gather around the dinner table, Alessandro sits on my right, Savannah on my left, and Mrs DeLuca glares at me from across the table.

As our meals are placed in front of us, I poke and move the fancy food around my plate.

I no longer have an appetite to eat anything, even though the food smells amazing.

Sitting in silence, I drink the red wine that is being served with the food. Alesssandros’ voice lingers in the room as he converses with the people sitting around our table.

He does not attempt to include me in his conversation, and I'm grateful because I'm paying no attention to what is being said, and I twist my body giving my full attention to Savannah.

She is so well-behaved, guilt seeps into the branches of my heart because there have been a few moments where I’ve forgotten that she is present.

“How's the food, my love?” I ask her in a hushed tone, trying to keep the slight slur interlacing with my words.

I'm such a lightweight when it comes to consuming alcohol
