I mope around my apartment for the rest of the weekend. I still haven't fully unpacked and so I decide to make a dent into the pile of boxes currently taking up residence in my living room.

On Monday morning, I dress for work even though I'm not sure if I should go in. Martin didn't seem to think confronting Noah was a good idea. I've never been one to avoid conflict but I've never been suspended either.

The CCTV still photo is sitting on the coffee table. Would Noah really give the design to Holly though? He got so angry at me, just for talking to her, it's hard to believe that he'd be the one actually passing the information to them.

Picking up the photo, I put it in an envelope and grab my handbag.

I'm still angry and even if it does turn out that Noah didn't do it, I still want to have my say. I'm being stubborn but I don't care. I'm not going to just sit here and wait for him to fire me.

Slamming my apartment's door behind me, I rush down the stairs and onto the street. I hail dow

Noah's POV:She must be insane! In what world would I sabotage my own team? She's not moving though. Eden Winters is ridiculously stubborn and she's showing no signs of backing down. How can she even keep a straight face while making such utterly absurd accusations? "It doesn't make sense," she says. "Your problems with Team Two pre-date my arrival at the company. It's far more logical that you or someone else in the department are culpable.""You're delusional," I bite out angrily. "Why would I sabotage myself?""Dunno," she says, shrugging her shoulders again. "I didn't say you did, only that you could have."I open my mouth to respond but she's too quick."You tried to fire me without any evidence, just an assumption. Based on your logic, you should be fired too.""But you're not fired," I retort, "so you're splitting hairs.""Only because I actually know my employment rights," she comes back. "You wanted to fire me.""This is pointless. You're wasting my time.""True," she agrees.

Eden's POV:I should be happy. I'm innocent and Mr Grisham knows it.Now that Stacey has left, neither of us say anything. He should be apologising. He should be giving Stacey the same treatment he gave me. Not that I want Stacey to be fired. I really don't. The double standard just upsets me.He didn't even hesitate to believe her. He took her word for it without a second thought. Even though they've worked together for a few years now, it still hurts. He wasn't even willing to give me the chance to explain myself and yet he outright refused her resignation even when he knew she was at fault.I wait for him to say something. Anything at all. Even if it's just one word would be better than this. But he doesn't and I'm disappointed. He wasn't kidding. This is a waste of time. As confidently as I can, I stride towards the door."Where are you going?""Home," I reply."What? Why?" He at least has the good grace to look awkward."You told me to leave.""Yeah but…""But what?" I ask. "I'm s

For the most part, things return to normal over the next few days. We're all working overtime to come up with a replacement product and things are a little frantic as we feel like we're rushing towards the submission deadline with no idea what our final product will be. The department's morale is a little low but they're all determined to make a success of the replacement product, if only to prove that they won't be beaten.Things are tense between Noah and me. We're barely talking, only saying enough to be considered civil. Fortunately, we all spend most of our time in the conference room together so our awkwardness goes relatively unnoticed. He's apologised and I've reluctantly accepted it, but it doesn't do much to change how I feel."Eden, do you have the revenue report for last month?" Noah asks softly. He's been extra polite over the last couple of days, as if he's scared of offending me."Yes," I answer, passing it to him without meeting his eye.He continues talking about the t

"Eden, can you come in here?" Noah calls out through his open office door. It's late and for the most part the department is empty. Entering his office, I come to stand at his side. He's standing with his back to the door, looking down at something on the desk. Laid out on his desk are the team's design ideas for the replacement product."What do you think?" he asks without so much as a glance my way."About what?""Which do you like most?""Er… This isn't really something I know anything about.""You made the right call last time.""I made a passing comment.""Yeah but it was right," he replies, giving me a sideways glance."I like the hanging sofa," I tell him eventually, "but if I'm honest, I keep thinking about the echo-friendly tents.""What about them?""It's potentially a whole new market," I tell him. "Clancy's Comforts doesn't do outdoors, for one thing. But also, if we can start a range of echo-friendly products, it could be huge.""Yeah, I think so too," he says, rubbing his

The rest of the week sees the team holed up in the conference room. As I suggested, Noah has split the team in two and now there's a competitive edge to everything they are doing. They've placed bets on which design will bring in the most money when they finally go live and the mood has definitely improved compared to how it was at the beginning of the week.Holly passes by several times, clearly snooping but the team are highly original in their tactics for distracting her, doing everything from spilling coffee on her to practically forcing her out the door with a fake note from Mrs Clancy for Lewis Artie.Stacey jumps to her feet. Dragging me from the conference room, she whispers in my ear, "Holly's here. Don't look."When someone tells you not to do something, what do you do? You do it, right? Instinctively, I look up and Holly looks like she's on the war path as she strides towards us."I wouldn't go in there if I were you," Stacey tells her, sidestepping her."Why not?" Holly as

It's almost home time on Friday night and the department is quietening down as everyone leaves, excited about their weekend. I'm in no hurry though. I don't have plans for the weekend and strangely enough, I quite enjoy this job.Any minute now though, Noah is going to come out of his office and tell me to go home. He never works late on Fridays. Unlike me, he must always have plans.I begin collating the department's weekly complaint log even though I know it's a long winded task. There's no way I'll have it finished by the time Noah finishes for the night. I might just stay late. It's not like I have anything better to do.Perhaps I should have taken Stacey and Rob up on their offer of going out for a drink but I hadn't really felt in the mood for socialising. I'd also had an offer to go back to my grandma's house for dinner but I'd told her that I wasn't sure when I'd be finished at the company.I'm not sure why I feel so deflated at the idea of spending the weekend away from the co

I arrive early on Monday morning. I'm not really sure why. Except that I'm excited. I want to be here. I'm eagerly waiting for Noah to arrive. I'm trying not to think about why I want to see him. I spent most of my weekend wishing that Monday would come quicker.Logging into my computer, I impatiently wait for it to load while making a mental note to recommend grandma updates the company's IT system.Glancing up frequently, I tell myself that I'm not looking for Noah. I quickly go through my emails, surprised to find several emails from the complaint department. Usually, I don't hear from them except for on Fridays with the weekly complaint log.I click to open the first email just as I notice Noah making his way towards me. He's carrying two coffees and he's actually smiling. It's disconcerting. He never smiles on Monday mornings. Hell, I'm lucky if he doesn't spend our Monday mornings screaming like a banshee at me."Morning," he says with a strange amount of chipper as he places one

There's even less room between us now but he's completely focused on my computer screen."Eden, I need you to get the advertisement department on the phone," he says authoritatively. "They can't just recall the entire line.""Yes sir," I say, picking up my phone. He pulls away, rushing back around my desk before disappearing into his office. I'm kept waiting on the phone for a while. It would seem that no one in the Advertising Department has arrived yet. Glancing at my watch, I grow frustrated. It's not that early. Our team have started arriving, waving at me as they make their way to their cubicles."Any luck?" Noah's POV:When I manage to get through the crowd of people, I find Eden sitting at the centre. She's in a metal chair with a hot drink in her hand and she's shaking slightly. My eyes linger on her momentarily before they take in the person talking to her, or more precisely the clothes they are wearing.Eden is speaking to a police officer. What the hell happened? I move to her side quickly, before crouching down to check on her."Eden, are you okay?" I ask.She gives me a small smile and offers me a shaky hand. I take it, feeling the cold that is emanating from her skin."I'm alright," she answers but I struggle to believe her."What happened?" I demand."James…"That's all she needs to say for me to see red. "Where is he?""The police have him now," she tells me, her voice hollow like she's overwrought with emotion."Do you need to stay here?" I want to take her away from all the prying eyes. I know Eden won't be enjoying the attention she's currently getting."I don't

Noah's POV:Mrs Clancy is happily talking away about Eden. Her voice is filled with evident pride. I'm surprised that Eden's been gone this long. It's been almost half an hour and I had gotten the distinct impression that she would rush back."I wonder what's taking Eden so long," Mrs Clancy's words echo my own thoughts.Getting to my feet, I reply, "I should go find her."Mrs Clancy smiles at me as I make my way out of the room in search of her granddaughter. Just outside, I'm glance around. I'm not really sure where to look for Eden. Coffee was just Mrs Clancy's excuse to get Eden out of the room. All so she could ambush me with questions. Questions I would have answered even if Eden had been in the room. The nurses are sitting at their desk, chatting away happily and there are several patients wandering about, but there's no sign of Eden. I pull my phone out of my pocket and call her. It's not like I can search the entire hospital, although I will if I have to. Even if it does

Eden's POV:I'm pretty sure grandma shouldn't be having caffeine so I forgo the coffee and just wander around instead. I tell myself that I'll give them ten minutes – exactly ten minutes – and then I'll head back.I hope Noah knows what he's getting himself into. Grandma is sneaky and she knows exactly how to dig for information. She'll have a wedding date, the number of kids he wants and the names and numbers of his immediate family members all within that ten minutes I'm giving them.Any longer and she'll wrangle every secret he's ever kept out of him.I'm not sure where to go so I head towards the exit, thinking that I'll get a little air. My mind immediately returns to the events of the previous day. It had taken ages to explain everything to the police. They'd have what felt like hundreds of questions. They have more, of course. They want witness statements from all of us. I guess, that's what I'll be doing tomorrow in between trying to fix the mess that James and Lewis have

I should have gotten up hours ago.I don't have time to waste. In a daze, I change my clothes and give myself a quick wash in the bathroom attached to my bedroom. I need to know what the hell is going on. Hurrying out of my bedroom, I'm surprised to find Noah in my little kitchen. He's bare foot and making breakfast."Morning," he says with a wide smile.I really love the sight of him here like this. Its not the first time I've seen him in my home in the morning but it feels special somehow. Every morning with him feels special. He tells me to sit down at the table and I only waver for a second as I wonder where my phone is. He must see my hesitation because he hands me my phone, unplugging it from the charger that is on the counter."Your battery was low," he tells me gently, as he drops a kiss to my head and places a cup of tea on the table in f

While I wait for the police to arrive, I hurriedly search through Alice's computer for anything about Luxen. "Where's Lewis?""With Martin. What do you mean the police are coming?""I heard James… He's leaving. He's running away. I need to stop him."It's clear from the look on his face that he's not really following."James killed my parents.""I know.""You do?""Lewis…""Oh.""I called the police. He's going to leave the country.""When?""Alice booked him a flight in four hours' time.""So, we have time… What are you doing now?" he asks, his hand on my forearm."I need to find… There's an account – Luxen. Eden's POV:I'm moving on autopilot, surviving on adrenaline alone. Several minutes ago when I heard James Artie leave his office with his assistant, I had let out a sigh of relief. I couldn't believe I'd managed to remain hidden.I'd tiptoed down the corridor until I found myself staring right at Noah.My pulse had skyrocketed as I stared at him and I hadn't been able to stop the wide smile that covered my face. As awful as it was to hear James' callous words about my parents' death, I felt like I was finally able to breathe again after the longest time.I knew for sure who killed my parents.Knowing that James Artie is responsible for all the pain I've felt, that my grandma has felt in the last ten years, knowing that he is the enemy I've been trying to beat in the last few months, gave me the fire to win. That need to put him behind bars is what pushes me back in the direction of his office. I know that he's gone back to his apartment to pack his stuff. I heard him tell Alice

Noah's POV:When Eden doesn't hurry back from the loos, I don't immediately panic. It's understandable that she might need a few minutes alone after everything that we've discussed today. It feels like every day we learn something new that has the power to destroy her and yet she faces it with a strength that is beyond belief.I'm in awe of her.I don't think I've have handled all this anywhere near as well as she has if it were my parents that were murdered. In fact, I know that I wouldn't. And it's not because I'm a weak man, but rather because she is something else entirely. She has a quiet resilience, a fire that keeps her moving towards her goal, though I'm not completely sure what that is.Is she trying to save the company or discover her parents' murderer? It's hard to say and I don't think it really matters either way. One will no doubt lead to the other and vice versa.Ten minutes turn to twenty and twenty soon becomes thirty. I find myself checking the clock frequently,

"Just how much did you tell her?" Lewis shouts as he enters the room. I'm not sure who he is talking to. Perhaps his uncle?"Lewis, shut up," James retorts angrily as the door slams shut behind them. "You know full well that Eden Clancy is in the building. The last thing we need is for her to overhear you.""It's not me that told her…""No. But it is you that got caught stealing intellectual property not just once but countless times. So stop shouting at Alice.""She told…""No. She didn't. From what Alice is saying, it was actually your assistant that gave Eden the details of your indiscretion.""My indiscretion? It was your idea! I never even wanted this job and now thanks to you, Uncle James, I'm probably going to end up in prison.""Don't be such a big baby and shut the hell up. Taking a little responsibility won't do you any harm."The room falls silent and I pray to whoever might be listening that no one will come around this side of the desk. "Alice tell me everything,

After lunch we return to the company. I'm a little distracted and not really paying attention to what the guys are saying. And not because we just had a run in with Mason. That whole conversation is like a nonentity. It seems irrelevant compared to everything else that has been happening recently."Eden what do you think?" Noah asks, pulling me from my thoughts.I stand still and blink up at them both. I haven't got a clue what they want to know. What do I think about what?"Er… I'm not sure. I'm going to go to the loo."They nod before returning to their conversation. Leaving the office, I make my way across the lobby and down one corridor, heading in the direction of the toilets. The idea that my grandma has known about my parents' murder for years and has done nothing about it is really bothering me. I just can't grapple with it. It doesn't make sense. Even if she wanted to protect me, she wouldn't just allow someone to get away with killing my parents. Would she?Surely, she
