Nate's face inched closer to mine, his breath whispering against my skin. I could feel my heart racing, my body reacting to how close he was. Despite myself, I closed my eyes, my lips parted, anticipating the kiss. There was a silent tension when instead of the pressure on my lips, I felt him touching my hair. He was teasing me.

My skin tingled as his fingers gently brushed against my hair, and I felt a shiver run down my spine.

Nate's fingers were still in my hair. What was he waiting for goddamit? His hands seemed to closed around something, and he gently pulled it out of my hair. I looked up at him in confusion, but he smiled down at me, his eyes sparkling with amusement.

"A piece of paper" he said, holding up the offending object. "You must have picked it up on your walk."

I felt a flush rise to my cheeks as Nate straightened up, his eyes never leaving mine. For a moment, we just stared at each other, the tension between us palpable.
