Summer’s Point of View

With a calm demeanor that never faltered, Steven rose from the plush beige couch and took slow steps towards me. The sound of his footsteps echoed through the spacious room, causing my heart to gallop. As his piercing blue eyes locked onto mine, a shiver ran down my spine. The shock in my expression was conspicuous, while Harvey’s face grew even more sullen.

How long had he been standing there? I had not seen him earlier. It was strange since he was quite tall and exuded an overbearing aura that was hard to miss. I could feel my fingers turning icy-cold, as if he was passing judgment on me for something I didn’t even do.

Harvey stood his ground. “Mister Carter, I won’t apologize if my question offended you. Summer is my best friend, so her well-being is my business,” he said adamantly.

As I mulled over whether to answer the call, I could feel beads of sweat forming on my forehead and a knot in my stomach.Thankfully, she saw my hesitation and spoke hearteningly, “I don’t see any issue with you answering calls to your husband’s phone, as long as it won’t harm his company and businesses. Besides, if the caller is a woman, shouldn’t you be double cautious, Missus Carter?”I looked up at her with a concern display and warily questioned, “...you think so?”Along with her two nods, she grinned. “In fact, you used to do that whenever Mister Carter forgot his phone before.”“I used to?” The disbelief in my expression couldn’t be covert. “Then... what did Steven say? Was he angry? I wondered if he hated me touching his p
