I wish I could also go away. But it wasn't as easy as it sounds.

My Mom is neither crazy nor is my sister. So I threw him a look, hoping he would behave.

“You can go outside and play. Don't get lost,” I told him.

I'd rather search for him later than have him in my Mom's presence. Dave wasn't the only person creeped out by her behavior, even I am.

“Much better.” Dave turned around and left.

My Mom looked disappointed though. “Why did you tell him to leave, Theo? You've brought him, isn't it for me to look at him?”

What did she mean by that?

I only brought the troublemaker because he insisted on tagging along.

“So the rumors are true…” The woman exclaimed and sat on the couch, looking dazed for a while. “So it's true that you have a child from another woman. He's this big, how old is he?”

“W- What!?” Tania stammered, her expression turning pale as well. “You're kidding, Mom. You mean that boy is Big Bro’s son?”

“No.” I frowned.

I didn't know why they were running to conclusions fas

…Olivia's POV How did he do it? I could assume the Nanny was kidding or just pulling up an act in order not to make me worry, But no sane adult would joke in such a situation. And the Nanny sounded very sure. I had to probe again and again to make sure she wasn't pulling my legs. Should I be relieved that Dave was fine? Or should I be more worried that he managed to take the kidnappers phone without them knowing? The more I thought about it, the more worried I became. What kind of kidnappers were they? Was my son safe as the Nanny reported? “No matter what, this is a good sign, Olivia.” Bonnie had been enthusiastic ever since the Nanny's phone call came in. “This will give us a lead on Dave's whereabouts. We can just track the number he called the Nanny with.”That's a great idea.In fact, I've already told the Nanny to forward that number to my phone-Hopefully, my son's life would soon be out of danger. Dave is a smart kid, but if those kidnappers knew how smart he was, they

Still, I should see if I can help. I came all the way from Geneva to help cure Grandpa, and I was still here when he fell into this condition which means I can't just ignore him. If nothing, I should at least check on him. “Ethan, don't worry. I'll be back in a jiffy,” I reassured, but Ethan shook his head. “Maybe tomorrow. You should rest, Olivia. You know what stress does to a person.”Right.Ever since I came to L.A., I'd been stressed both physically and mentally. First, I had to hide from Theo and then came the news of my son's kidnap.I can't rest, though. And I'm pretty sure that Theo wouldn't have the mind to return to the hospital after what he did to his grandfather. So the chances of meeting him are very low. I didn't listen to Ethan this time despite understanding that he was only looking out for me. “You can come with me if you want,” I suggested.Since he's so concerned about keeping me safe, I don't mind letting him tag alone.“Whatever you say.” Ethan sighed. “I

Carbon dioxide? How? That's very dangerous! Grandpa could die!“Let me have a look.” Without wasting a second, I shoved through the crowd of nurses and checked the heart monitor machine. As expected, the old man’s heartbeat was irregular but not so weird as to cause a panic. In fact, his slowed heartbeat was restoring to normal gradually. Still, the need to admit quick medication to dispel the strange gas from his system is vital. He must have inhaled the gas for two or three seconds, otherwise, he wouldn't have survived if the oxygen mask had been on for long.“This is strange. Who could have replaced the actual oxygen with smoke?” Dr. Natasha expressed the same thoughts bothering me. Even the nurses were confused as they all stared at each other with furrowed brows.“Such a thing has never happened before!” “The workers never made such a huge mistake.”“What's happening then?”“Who could have tampered with the oxygen bank?”“Do you think the old man's life is in danger?”“Is s

…Theo's POV I shouldn't have placed my phone on silent last night if I knew I would wake up to so many missed calls from the hospital director. Staring at the thirty missed call notifications, my apprehension knew no bounds.Grandpa…What if? I had no time to make any assumptions. As I got out of the bed, I rushed straight into the bathroom.I washed up immediately, dressed up and hurried out. “Going to work so early? Are you trying to ditch me, Theo?” I came to a halt, almost crashing into the boy on my way downstairs. He was still in his pajamas, rubbing his sleepy eyes. Damn. Why is he out of bed early?I could tell him yes, and he would insist on following me to work.If I told him no, he could bombard me with questions about where I'm going and insist in the end to follow me. “Be good. I'll come back soon.” I reached out and ruffled his hair, but the boy didn't seem to like it as he shoved my hand off. “From the looks of it, you're trying to ditch me. When are you gonna

…Jessica's POV ‘Theo must be on his way to the hospital.’That was the first thought that came to my mind when I saw his car racing out of the Villa. I was on my way there to complete his mother's mission since the woman was so dumb that she couldn't get a single strand of hair from a little boy. She had managed to lure Theo to the mansion and he even went there with that boy,But she subsequently failed in her mission of taking a sample for the DNA test.Theo seems to have left the Villa without the boy which means I would get the chance to be with him alone. But I contemplated whether to enter the Villa or not. In the end, my curiosity got the best of me.The boy could wait, and I had to find out why Theo was in such a hurry.I trailed after him with my car, unable to catch up despite racing, until we got stuck in traffic.Still, Theo arrived at the hospital before me. From the way he was speeding the car, it could only mean one thing. The old man must have died already. Well,

…Theo's POV And here I am racing down the city again like a madman.Could this morning get any worse? How did he fall off the stairs? What was the housekeeper doing?I'm sure the boy wouldn't jump on the stairs railings to play. The stairs were pretty sturdy and large… There was no way he could fall by accident. But I told him to behave. Sigh! With the way my heart keeps racing, maybe I'll end up in the hospital next. My phone beeped constantly with the hospital director's name flashing on the screen. He was calling again. Well, after realizing that my grandfather is fine, I have no interest in answering his calls-Not when the little boy's life might be in danger. Why am I so worried, though? What's this feeling of dread building up in my heart?I'm rarely fazed by disasters. I never panicked easily. My grandfather is the only person who's capable of waking my emotions. Why does the boy get involved? Am I becoming soft? In ten minutes, I was back in the Villa. Right! It doesn't add up. How did Jessica know that he fell off the stairs when she wasn't even here?At first, I thought Jessica followed me to the hospital after coming to the Villa and witnessing the boy fall. She wouldn't have mistaken the housekeeper for a little boy like Dave. By the way, the housekeeper happened to fall off the stairs just as I entered the house. Which meant that before I left the hospital, no accident had happened yet. Indeed, nothing adds up.Sitting up straight, my brows furrowed as I wondered if I was the one thinking in the wrong direction. Could it be…“The one who told you that I fell off the stairs must have planned it. Was that spilled soap meant for me?” Dave pondered. That was a dangerous assumption even for a little boy. But he wasn't completely wrong. Even my mind was telling me the same thing. Jessica wouldn't lie to me, would she?Back then, she came in hastily and dragged me out- Damn, I don't want to recall that kiss… It felt as if somet

…Olivia's POVPhew! That was a close call.A very close one. Removing my face mask, I slumped on the couch as my head spun with so many thoughts…What if?What if Theo had seen me?What if he'd realized I was the one? What if Jessica hadn't barged in and distracted him? What if I hadn't gone there in the first place? What if I'd followed Ethan's advice and just left Grandpa’s care in Dr. Natasha’s hands? But now that Grandpa Victor's condition was becoming complicated, I couldn't trust anyone with his well-being. I don't look down on Dr. Natasha’s skills, but my mind won't be at ease if I'm not nearby to make sure Grandpa Victor is alright. What happened yesterday scared everyone.Although I suspected Theo and expressed my thoughts, I didn't expect Dr. Davison to go ahead and still summon Theo. If I knew Theo was in that ward, I would have hidden somewhere and waited until he left. For the first time, I saw the man I'd wished never to see again. Although I could only look at his

I couldn't get him through those cupcakes too, otherwise, he might have already bid this world goodbye forever. • Divorced To Steal His Heart    79. Forgiving Him

Jessica was just desperate for a child, that's all. Many times, she'd brought up the topic of having our own child even though I kept postponing the wedding. Her desperation was born from my mother's constant nagging who had been longing for a grandchild for many years now. “That's enough, Dave… Return that bag. Besides, I haven't found your parents yet.”Which will be my priority from now on. Thomas Sinclair had been apprehended. The doctor had already agreed to go to the Island,Most of my worries had decreased, and the only important task ahead was finding his parents. Otherwise,It's not only Jessica’s craziness I'm wary of. My mother could do something as crazy too.“I'm not staying in this place until Jessica leaves. And promise that she never comes back,” Dave grumbled, pursing his lips. It's not like I like Jessica's company. She must have left already in fact. So it's not something to worry about. Noticing the boy holding his stomach, I frowned a bit. “Hungry?”Dave re

Ridiculous! Is Jessica desperate for us to have a child that she'd even harass this kid? What's wrong with her? Strolling upstairs, I wiped my face, hoping my frustration would go away.I've had enough drama for the day, and all I wanted was a long rest-No, I still have some documents to sign. I have to attend a video meeting later, and then, I'd have to look over the new company's infrastructure my assistant emailed me since last week.I never get rest even during weekends. Damn, if only I could take a long vacation. But the company is unstable now. The higher-ups are constantly butting heads. Just like finding Olivia, a vacation is a far-fetched dream. I paused in the middle of the stairs and brought out my phone which just rang.Seeing the hospital director’s name flashing on the screen, I answered the call and resumed walking.Hopefully, I'll hear good news this time. At least, one load should be lifted off my shoulders already. “Mr. Wellington, I have good news and bad ne

Jessica froze. She stood up straight and dropped the cupcake. Turning around, she plastered on a sweet smile. “Oh, Theo… you came back early. Dave and I wanted to surprise you-”“What the hell were you doing?” I interrupted her, wondering if something was wrong with her head.If I hadn't come in and witnessed it for myself, I wouldn't have believed it. “Uhmm, w-what?” Jessica stammered, putting on a confused look. “What do you mean, Honey?”“Witch! Didn't you try to poison me just now!?” Dave grabbed a tissue and wiped off the smudges of cupcake on his lips. He jumped down from the dining chair and ran to my side. “This wicked witch has been harassing me since morning. What took you so long, Theo?”I wanted to reassure him that I was here and would end Jessica's craziness.First, it was posting the boy's photos on the internet, and now this! But Jessica's stance wavered. She staggered and grabbed the chair's handle, staring at us in disbelief. “What's this, Theo? Dave is just bein

Honestly, I dislike hearing him constantly call out Olivia's name.I shouldn't be jealous.I didn't care about Olivia even when we were still married.I shouldn't be so provoked by seeing another man obsessed with her!I slammed the steering wheel, honking the car loud as it suddenly got stuck in the traffic.Apart from my mounting frustration, I also felt kind of annoyed this morning.Olivia…I didn't only just dream about her, but also had to hear another man mention her name again and again. Sometimes, I get worried that she might be dead.I get mad sometimes that she left without telling me of her illness,While sometimes, I just feel hopeless. The traffic didn't disperse until th

She appeared to be new and wasn't present while I was still working here five years ago.I couldn't help but shake my head in pity, seeing how all the ladies were gushing over Theo. A rose looks beautiful and inviting on the outside, but it's filled with thorns. I put my face mask back in place and entered Dr. Davison’s office. The middle-aged man was sitting across his desk, ticking off some names on a list. When he saw me, he stood up. “Oh, Dr. Olivia, you're here.”“Yeah,” I replied cautiously. “Why do you wanna see me, Dr. Davison?”“It's for a very

I have a feeling that I won't be able to handle Dr. Davison alone,But Ethan has a family emergency and has to fly to Delawares immediately.I waved him goodbye as he drove off, hoping none of his parents had fallen sick. Then I turned and stared at the huge building standing in front of me.Returning to this place is risky.I might bump into Theo again like last time.
