EMILY'S POV
The time seemed to stop the moment Liam crashed his lips over mine. Maybe I was hallucinating but I wasn't sure either if this was an illusion. Though it felt so real. His mint smell enveloped me, throwing me into a whirlwind of emotions while my heart pounded loudly against my ribcage. Goosebumps spread across my exposed skin, and I shivered against his tall frame. His free hand rested on my waist and I felt so small, so powerless and fragile against Liam's chest. Liam would never kiss me. He never did except when we were having sex, but what changed? I shook the stupid thought that filled my head, almost making my head fuzzy away. I pressed my hand on his chest, trying to push him away but Liam didn't bulge. Who am I kidding? Liam has spent most of his leisure time in the gym. There was nothing he was not good at, even the kissing part. My hormones took charge, and I moaned into the kiss like molten magma. The sound that escaped my lips scared me because Liam suddenly wrapped his hand against my bare back. If only he could push me closer because there was no fucking space between us. “Is that not Mr. Nolan? Young couples these days..." A voice rang in the open space which belongs to a woman. She was probably making her way into the hall. “You can't blame them, Martha. We were once like that" I heard a male voice, and only then was I aware of whatever was going on. The words faded away which made me flutter my eyelids open with reflex. I bit Liam on his lips, gaining a groan from him. I didn't bite him hard to draw out blood, but enough to let him know that he should stop whatever games he was playing right now because he had already taken the spotlight. Liam stepped away from me, and I felt the breeze blow towards me the moment his warm, calloused hand dropped from my back. The warmth I felt just now disappeared. I was back to the same lonely me but things are in stark contrast to each other now. My eyes fell on his lips before moving to his lips, only then did I see the emotions that appeared in his eyes. Just like they appeared, they vanished quickly like a freckle of dust. I was a mess, breathing hard through my parted lips. I felt like a young high school girl, but the moment I remembered how I suffered from Liam's hand, a bitter smile graced my lips. I looked around, only to see the paparazzi swarm towards us. This was just a game, after all, but why am I getting worked up? Maybe it was because, in my past life, Liam didn't kiss me when we came for my sister's birthday in my past life. Then I must have forgotten that the old me will never dress like this. Could Liam be in love with me or just attracted to my body? What was I thinking? Did I possibly think that Liam would kiss me so roughly, if not because of the paparazzi and reporters that were present at the venue? “You need to show them your brightest smile, Emily," Liam said, breaking through my thoughts and I shivered silently, gritting my teeth in silent anger. If looks could kill. Liam will be six feet under the ground right now. “I don't want you messing up; father is here," Liam added in a cold tone. He cleaned the corner of his lips with the handkerchief and tucked it inside his side pocket. “You should give me a heads up next time if you want to try something like this again, Liam. I don't like surprises," I said defiantly in a low whisper before clasping my hand in his. Liam drew me to his side the moment my palm touched his. We fit so perfectly on each other's sides, and it makes me nauseous. “You should know I like surprises, Emily, just like the way you suddenly asked for a divorce today," Liam said and clicked his tongue in distaste. I raised my head only to see a smirk spread across his face. Before I could reply, Liam had already parted his full pink lips. “Seeing you flustered just like now. For a moment, I thought you were falling for me." Liam said with sarcasm before setting his lips into a thin line. What was wrong with him? He was trying to get me riled up but the Liam I know would never act like this. He is never the type to joke about things like this. I wanted to question him. I wanted to ask Liam why he was doing that but he smiled at me, reminding me to do the same. I clenched my hand, eyes shooting daggers at him before a smile spread across my lips. We turned to face the paparazzi and reporters and that was when I heard the familiar voice. “I know it's you, son. Emily dear" I didn't have to turn to know it was Liam's father. I bowed and raised my head while Liam stood arrogantly beside me. “She is so pretty," I heard the guest say as they made their way into the hall. “Is Mrs. Nolan so pretty like that?" A girl squealed. “For a moment I thought it was another woman." " " “Father," I said with the prettiest smile on my face, ignoring the people's comments. The paparazzi were pushed back by the security and their footsteps echoed in the tiled floor. Liam's father only shook his head before coming to my side. He gave me a light pat on my shoulder, not sparing Liam a look. “Emily, you look breathtaking today." Liam's father praised me and I was flattered because this was the same line Liam used for me before kissing me against the car. At least, it's good they have things in common. “Thank you, Father," I replied vehemently and I felt someone scoffed beside me. Someone is in a bad mood, and I know it's no other person but Liam. “I guess that was why Liam couldn't resist you. I mean, which able man would dare resist my beautiful daughter-in-law?" Liam's father added in a serious tone. I laughed wholeheartedly while patting my chest against the clothes. “You flattered me, father but I think Liam was too impatient. I can't believe he kissed me right here in front of everyone," I replied sheepishly, tucking some strands of hair against my ear. Liam jerked our entwined hands away which made me raise my head in confusion. I parted my lips and tried to say something but Liam cut me off. “Meet me inside, Emily."EMILY'S POVLiam walked away, leaving me and his father outside. I didn't try to stop him because I knew Liam and his father were like a cat and rat. They aren't on good terms and sometimes, I do blame myself and think maybe it was because his father forced us to be together.I was still angry that Liam kissed me right in front of everyone. I know this was part of the rules in the contract I signed in my past life.We are supposed to act like a real couple whenever we are outside but the moment we stepped into the car or got home, everything changed. I wouldn't hesitate to trample on Liam today, humiliating him was part of my plan of coming here.“Liam is still as cold as ever but I am glad he is warm to you. He can be difficult sometimes, but try to understand him," Liam's father assured me in a warm tone. I wished I could tell him things weren't like what he thought because Liam was in love with my sister, not me. “Thank you, Father. I know you will become close friends at some po
“Woah. I guess everyone could see that. Mrs. Nolan and Aysel are wearing the same dress." The MC spoke into the microphone.I smiled at Aysel who managed to smile back at me. She must be weeping inside now because I remembered how she boasted about how much the dress cost in my past life. She had blabbered that they were just two copies of it and she was probably the first one to get it which was why I begged Chelsea to get the same dress. It was worth the trouble after all, I want to see if her ego has been crushed now. This is just the beginning of Aysel's misery.“This is the definition of a happy family. This is what we call true love between two sisters." The MC continued while the people clapped their hands with a smile on their faces.Aysel walked towards me and pulled me in for a hug. I hugged her back, returning the gesture.“You surprised me, Emily. You should have let me know you will be getting the same dress." Aysel said with gritted teeth. Her voice was barely above a wh
The party was already coming to an end after Laura and my father gave their last speech. The people were already starting to disperse. I took my purse with me and left the hall because of the sudden need to empty my bladder. The space was empty when I got inside. I stepped inside one of the stalls and got my thing done. I was ready to step out of the stall when the door was pushed open, followed by echoing footsteps. “Did you see the way Aysel danced with Liam Nolan? Do you think they have things going on between them?" I pressed my ear against the door frame to listen to their conversation better. “I wouldn't be surprised if the two are dating. Have you forgotten the way Aysel was when she heard about Emily getting married to Liam? She nearly killed herself." My jaw dropped when I heard what the girl said and I shook my head in disbelief. My lips trembled when I listened to more of their conversation. I recognize the voice. It was none other than Aysel's friends. I recognize t
“Liam, stop it. I told you I wanted a divorce," I said but no words came out of my lips. It was all in my head and maybe a part of me wanted this. Maybe a part of me still hopes Liam will eventually come to love me and not my sister but this is just wishful thinking. What kind of temptation is this? “Look at you getting red, Emily. Tell me," Liam said with sarcasm before moving his hand resting down the side of my body. “You want this" He said his hot mint breath fell on my neck. My body flushed as his hand trailed the curve of my body. I almost closed my eyes to enjoy this beautiful feeling and also let it take over my entire being as desires pulsated through me. Liam took a few steps back and pinched the middle of his eyebrows, leaving me all alone and I felt alone. ”What is the meaning of what you just did, Liam?" I asked after taking a deep breath. My face is still as red as a tomato because I suddenly feel hot from inside. He already riled me up without touching
Liam burst into a fit of laughter the moment I uttered those words. I frowned, not knowing what prompted the reaction.”If you are going to keep on weighing your options because of that claim of yours about Aysel, I would love to see your proof, Emily." Liam said, straightening his back.“You can as well answer my question. Just a yes or no would do, Mr. Nolan," I replied before taking my purse from the floor while a part of me waited for the devil's reply.“Will my answer satisfy you, Emily? I doubted that, but don't take my words lightly. I meant everything I said," Liam said before storming out of the room while my eyes trailed over him until the door was shut. The moment Liam left, I slumped to the floor while my hand didn't stop shaking. There is one more thing I forgot to remember about Liam.He is the type to never go back on his words and I mean it. Liam is going to divorce me like I said but that doesn't mean he will let me be like that without trying to get connected to me p
I stormed into my room, closing the door behind me with a loud thud. Liam and I didn't talk throughout the drive and he didn't try to engage in any conversation with me. He was as silent as ever.I took off my heels and undressed before walking naked into the bathroom. The white bulb made the room look even brighter, but strangely, his scent still lingered in the room. The bathtub was filled with warm water and the steam rose slowly from it. I got into the bathtub, letting my racing nerves relax with the calm water. After washing myself up inside the bathtub, I wrapped the towel around my body.“You think I can't get him, huh? Just watch me, Emily. Don't come begging me when he is finally with me," Aysel's words replayed in my mind. Those were her last words before I left the hall. It might have looked as if she was bluffing, but Aysel is never the type to let her guard down, and she meant every word.I looked at my stomach, which still appeared flat. There is still some time for me t
The maids came in before I could finish bathing and my clothes were already laid down for me on the bed. “Good morning, ma'am." The two girls chorused with their heads bowed.I still remember their name from my past life. The short girl is Annie while the tall, brunette girl is Bentley.“Morning Bentley," I said with a beautiful smile on my lips. I sat down in front of the dressing mirror while they walked towards me to help with dressing up.As usual, they got me the kind of dress I usually wore. A long dress that reaches my legs and its flair, not showing any of my curves. They combed my hair and made it curly at the end. When they were done, I wore the dress and twirled around. I can't believe I loved wearing this back then.“Ma'am, do you want us to apply the makeup?" It was Bentley who asked me and I could see the look of confusion and surprise in their eyes. There were surprised to see makeup kit in the room which I got last night from Chelsea.“Yes, I will be using it," I sa
“Then why is your cheek becoming pink, Wifey? Don't tell me you are having silly thoughts in the middle of signing divorce papers." “You must be delusional to think that my cheeks were red because of whatever perverted words you said, Mr. Nolan," I said, already pissed off. Liam nodded his head with a thoughtful look before relaxing his back on the couch. “I didn't say anything about my words but now that you mention it, what perverted words have I said, Wifey?" Liam replied with a smug smile. My heart beat frantically in my chest in nervousness. I indeed applied some blush on my cheeks so Liam wouldn't have known if I was blushing or not.“Can I sign the papers now? Please the pen," I said, changing the topic. Liam held the pen in his hand before stretching the pen out for me to take. I swallowed back nervously before standing up to take the pen from him.I felt a jolt of electricity traveling down my spine when my fingers suddenly brushed Liam's hands. My lips parted slightly as
“I don't think I can do this, Vee," I said, only for Vincent to shut me up with a raise of his hand. He smiled at me and I could see he wasn't faking it in any way.For the First time, it felt as if this was the first time I would ever see Vincent smile this way. “I thought you would have noticed Emily. I thought I was giving you the signs for you to know that I am actually in love with you," Vincent said, and I shook my head slowly, my palms becoming sweaty.“It wasn't my fault. I mean we are friends. Best friends till we meet again in Los Angeles" I confessed without much difficulty.I didn't stutter or embarrassed myself. I aimed to clear the misunderstanding. I know I somehow use Vincent in order not to appear weak in front of Liam and Aysel. However, Vincent took another step towards me. If 30 centimeters apart before, then I have to say Vincent is breathing the same air as me because there is no space between us anymore.Anytime from now, Xavier's bus will arrive, and I will ha
I couldn't hold my anger in as I get up angrily. I wouldn't let Liam and Aysel disgrace me. However, Aysel turned to face me as if she knew what I had in plan. Maybe she thought I am going to tell Vincent to stood up from the seat then i will hug him but I didn't.“I have nothing more to do here and if you are that curious to know if he is someone I love, then I will give you the invitation card to our wedding" I said and Vincent stood up alongside me with a bow to the two nuisance in front of me.I walked out of the restaurant with Vincent, feeling a sense of relief that the uneasiness I felt is finally over. We walked towards the parking lot and I hop in. Vincent drived us to my apartment but my nerves didn't calm a bit as I get down from the car. There is this funny question heating me up and I wanted to ask him if my guess was true. I don't want to put Vincent in a tight position. Turning to face him as he closed the distance between us, I asked, "Hey, Vincent, can I ask you so
For a second, I thought Aysel was joking but it was all true when I saw the seriousness on her face.”Is there anything on my face Emily?" Aysel asked with a blank expression. “You coming right? I will text you the location" Aysel said as she walked back to meet Liam. The two said something which my ear couldn't pick up before they get inside the car.Vincent turned to look at me with his eyebrows. I guess he is communicating with me slowly to either come with Aysel or we should ditch her.My phone beeped in my hand. I checked the notification and saw Liam text on my phone. Actually, Aysel didn't have my number which was why Liam send the location text himself.“He sent the location. I think we should go" I said and Vincent nodded his head with a smile. He kissed my hand before he etwined my hand with his and dragged me to the passenger seat. Opening the car door, he pulled the door open and I get in.Vincent drove the car to the famous restaurant and help me with the door while Ays
”Hello, Aysel," I start, clenching my hand against my side while Vincent tries to focus his attention on me, but I doubt it would change a thing because I wouldn't act friendly to Aysel today.“Is there a reason I need to reply to that question you asked? I mean, we aren't that close to sharing something personal," I said aloud for her to grasp what I was saying.Liam eyes look in my direction briefly before he suddenly shifts his attention to Aysel. He didn't bother to walk in to explain himself. Perhaps, he thought I would open my mouth and inform Aysel myself that I am working as his secretary.Aysel laughed cutely, covering the part of her mouth with her hand. ”I'm sorry. It's just that I didn't expect Emily to talk to me that way," Aysel lied through her pretentious face as if I was the wicked person here.I scoffed only to notice a change in her expression. “It wouldn't be hard for you to tell me you came here with your new boyfriend," Aysel said with a scornful look.Calming m
It was already three minutes past 4 in the evening when I left my office room and walked towards the elevator. Liam left before me and he didn't bother to strike up any conversation with Mr after the heated argument we had in his office room concerning Vincent.I had to admit that he has been acting weird, which is not something I am oblivious to. It's all written on his face compared to in the past when he was good at masking his emotions but things are different now.“Ms Emily, will you be coming to the party? I heard it was thrown because of you" One of the workers working in the management department said, walking towards. She is a lady in her late twenties with a good petite figure. Something any man would be crazy for because of the way she carried herself with her stunning walking steps. However, I cleared my throat when I realized she just asked me a question and which party she was talking about. Or is anyone having a birthday party which I wasn't aware of?“Is there a party
Call me a Lunatic because the truth is I want to give Liam a slap for calling me a cheating woman when he knows nothing. The fact that he believed whatever lies Aysel told him is still outrageous, considering the fact that I was with him all through and the rare times Vincent appeared varies.“You have know right to say that to me when you are the one having an affair Liam. I only came here as your secretary out of your own will." I said, breathing through my lips as I tried to calm my nerves.”You signed the contract Emily." Liam interjected, acting as if I plead to him to take me back.If only he knew things won't be the same after the 5 month contract expired.“Because you are threaten me with someone else company Liam. You wanted to ruin what Mr Smith has used his life savings to build. You want to ruin it in span of 24 hours" I spat back with venom in my tone.I tried to adjust my expression, taking in a deep breath while Liam only looked at me as I just said something bad. He t
Vincent's eyes followed my direction. I cussed Liam in my mind before returning my gaze to Vincent. Perhaps, it's time to pay back. After all, Vincent will be coming to pick me up in the evening. I can as well act as if I was into him just to spite Liam.“I will be waiting till you get back to pick me up. I am going to miss you, Vincent," I said, and before he could reply to me, I closed the distance between us and kissed his cheek.Vincent's eyes glinted with mischievousness but I smiled to ease the tension.“Take care of your sweet," Vincent said before walking back towards his car, but suddenly, he stopped and walked back to me. My eyebrows raised in question, and at the same time, I felt a cold sweat break on my back. He knew he was looking at our way because he had refused to walk in since the car was parked. As if he wants to see the scene unfold right in front of him.Vincent's hand rested on my shoulder and I tense. “I wanted to adjust the polo." He gave one simple excuse, wh
The sun already rose from the East when I got ready to get to work. I picked up my bag and car key after bidding Xavier goodbye when he got inside the school bus.Turning the doorknob, my eyes widened like a saucer as if I had just seen a ghost, but it wasn't a ghost; actually, Vincent stood in front of my doorstep holding a bouquet in his hand. I smiled like a baby when he flashed me his brightest smile.“Good morning, Ugly duckling," Vincent said with amusement, and I couldn't hold back my smile.“This is a token of my heart to you," Vincent said, and I took the bouquet from his hand. Thank you, Vincent, I said, smiling while looking at the bouquet.“I actually came at the right time. 8 will drive you," Vincent said aloud, and I raised my eyebrows at him in question.“What?" I asked, raising my hands in the air in a dramatic way. The corner of Vincent's eyes twitched, looking at me. “That's ridiculous and I won't allow you to do that," I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm.“Says
I sat at the table, my mind racing with thoughts of frustration and annoyance. Why had I signed that contract in the first place? I blamed myself for being so stupid, for not thinking things through.I couldn't take it anymore. I picked up my bag and stood up, my eyes locked on Liam's face. "I'm out of here," I said, my voice firm.Liam looked up at me, a hint of surprise in his eyes. But he didn't say anything, just watched as I walked away. What did I even expect the devil man to say?I stormed out of the restaurant, feeling a sense of relief wash over me as I stepped out into the cool air. I hailed a taxi and got in because I didn't bring my car along. It was all because of Vincent after all.The driver asked me for directions which I told her before the car drove off. I glanced through the open window, enjoying the view but that was all a lie. Liam didn't come after. Maybe he finally realized I was not going to listen to him. But my freedom was short-lived when my phone suddenly
