49. Acting Indifferent

Pushing the door slightly, Leah stepped into the office, her eyes wandering around the place, looking like a lost kitten.

Her gaze strayed to him, and she smiled, lowering her head.

What was she doing here?

Liam frowned.

Wasn't she supposed to be resting at home?

Last week, she'd complained about feeling weak and dizzy.

Liam gave her a month's leave to fully recuperate at home.

She never told him what caused her illness and he had to hear about her pregnancy from his mother.

Liam's thoughts wired back to that business trip.

If he'd drunk less, he wouldn't have made such a huge mistake!

Still, why couldn't he remember a thing?

Leah hesitated by the door as her fearful gaze darted to Haley.

She looked shocked for a while. “I- Uhm, I- I didn't know you were here, Mrs. Nash. I- I'll take my leave.”

“Come back,” Liam called out.

She hadn't even said what brought her. Was she very scared of Haley that she was leaving so soon?
