OLIVIA

Despite being caught in the act, I wasn’t ashamed of my actions. It was precisely what I needed at that point.

My life was going astray. I was losing my mind. Just a few minutes of romance, and my worries were gone.

I enjoyed every bit of the scene. I wished we hadn’t stopped.

Twice, I’ve gotten myself involved in a hot romance with Adrian, and it feels like we’ve been married for decades.

It was strange how I didn’t feel that toward Cyril during lovemaking.

“I am sorry for what happened. I didn’t mean to take advantage of your situation. I should have controlled my urge,” Adrian apologized.

The apology ruined the beautiful moment I thought we had. I thought he felt something during the lovemaking.

It dawned on me that I was throwing myself at him. The apology made me feel so cheap.

“Are you okay? Did I say something to upset you?” Adrian asked me when he noticed the sad look on my face. He knew for sure that his utterances were the reason for my sudden change of mood.

OLIVIAI couldn't bring myself to tell Kate what had transpired between Adrian and me. I wouldn’t know how she would react to Adrian not wanting to spend the rest of his life with me.“And where’s Adrian? He ought to be here. Why hasn’t he shown up yet? Are you sure he still wants to take us shopping?” Kate asked after her close observation.I thought about what Kate said and realized she might be right. It was strange that the thought hadn’t crossed my mind earlier.“I guess he’s still stuck in the car. He’s probably too tense to show up after what happened between us,” I replied, trying to keep her in suspense. My plan to frustrate Kate into giving up on her questioning wasn’t working. She was determined, almost like a detective investigating a case.“With all due respect, if you don’t speak up now, I might be forced to go speak with Adrian. Who knows? I might get lucky and get the information I need from him,” Kate dared, already moving to execute her threat.“Wait! I’ll speak now,

Adrian“We should call the cops immediately,” Olivia suggested. She brought out her phone, but I was quick to stop her immediately.Without being told, I knew she wanted to call the cops.“What do you think you’re trying to do?” I asked her and held on to her phone.I adjusted a bit to stop her from snatching it from me. I already saw the drastic move she was making.“What does it look like I am doing? Of course, I am calling. Rene needs to be stopped before she harms us,” Olivia freaked out like a toddler.I haven’t seen her panicking like that before.I giggled because her actions were beginning to amuse me.“What makes you think that Rene would want to hurt you? She has nothing on you. I propose you forget her and let me take you home,” I insisted. As much as Rene is desperate to have Cyril to herself, I still didn’t think she would want to get rid of Olivia to achieve that.“Can you just listen to yourself right now? Isn’t it obvious that Rene wants my man? The only person standin

ADRIAN“Do we have a problem here, Adrian? You’ve been quiet lately, and it’s beginning to bother me a lot,” Olivia asked after noticing how restless I had been lately.I tried to pull myself together and pretend that everything was fine, but I just couldn’t. I still found myself trembling as I gripped the steering wheel.“Nothing for you to worry about, Olivia. It’s not something that I can’t handle. Trust me when I say I got this,” I assured Olivia, forcing a smile that reeked of confidence. The plan was to allay Olivia’s fears, but so far, it wasn’t working. Olivia wouldn’t stop asking me questions.“Like seriously, Adrian? You want me to believe the things you say when your heart is beating faster? Come on, who does that? What the fuck do you take me for? A dummy or what?” Olivia lamented bitterly. At that point, I knew I needed to tell her the truth to allow me to focus on getting away from the car that was trailing us from behind. On second thought, I doubted if Olivia would be

ADRIANI returned to the car with divided attention. I needed to be sure if I was making the right decision or if I was just fooling around.“Are you convinced that Rene is trying to kill me?” Olivia asked while folding her arms.I was upset at her question. She wasn’t helping matters.I wanted to concentrate on my driving, and she wasn’t making it possible for that to happen. Her constant complaints had succeeded in disorganizing my system.I didn’t know what to say to Olivia. I might escalate the situation. I couldn’t even put myself in order, let alone control a troubled mind like Olivia’s.Just by looking at her, I could see the fire coming out of her forehead.I shunned Olivia’s question and started the car to continue the trip when she stopped me. She forcefully pulled the keys away and hid them in her pocket.“What do you think you’re doing? Please—give me back the bunch of keys. We’ve got a place to be, and you know that,” I demanded.“Not until you answer my question. I am no

ADRIAN“Adrian, please. Don’t do this. You can’t just abandon us when we need you the most. I thoroughly understand that Olivia might have upset you. But please, can you not take it out on her now?” Kate bemoaned. She was taking the situation more seriously than Olivia. It was Olivia I expected to speak up and not Kate. Olivia wasn’t even making an effort to convince me. She was seated comfortably, believing that Kate would do the dirty work for her.I ignored Kate’s pleas like a plague.I didn’t do that on purpose. I wanted to trigger Olivia’s anger and force her to speak, and it worked the moment Olivia whispered in my ear, “Please, Adrian.”Her voice wasn’t audible enough because she was very ashamed of her act.I looked away, pretending not to hear her speak, even though she was seated next to me.I wanted her to speak to me with all sincerity, like she meant it.“Didn’t you hear my Boss? She just took the bold step and pleaded with you. Please forgive her and let this slide. We s

ADRIAN “Yes, I do love you, Olivia, and I am not ashamed to admit it. I will cross the seven seas for your sake. I am not a fighter, but I am ready to fight for your love regardless of the consequences that await,” I affirmed as though I was reading a poem. It took me a while to make the bold statement, but I was glad I did. After the proclamation, I was relieved. A massive stone rolled away from my heart. It was the best five minutes of my life. “If you love me this much, then let’s get married immediately. What are we waiting for? I don’t mind filing for a divorce from Cyril. I need to be free again. I surely deserve a better life,” Olivia said to me. She said it like she meant it. She held me closer and kissed my hand and forehead in a romantic gesture. Instantly, a sparkle formed in my head. It’s safe to say that Olivia has the sweetest touch ever. I looked at her and said, “I will be glad to spend the rest of your life with you. But for now, let’s find out who’s trying to me

OLIVIA “Excuse me, Adrian. Do you two know each other before?” I asked Adrian out of curiosity. Their sudden bonding was getting to bore me. I couldn’t help but ask. It wasn’t too long before Adrian walked inside the station, and he was already exchanging pleasantries with one of the cops as though they’d known each other for a thousand years. “Oh, yes, we do know each other. Too bad I didn’t introduce him to you when I should have,” Adrian confirmed in a rush. He didn’t even wait for me to finish asking before responding. It was as though he knew I was going to ask the question. “Matthew and I used to be best friends way back in high school. Too bad he relocated to Germany with his parents,” Adrian further explained as his smiles widened to his ears. It was strange to see smiles on Adrian’s face after the shit I made him go through in recent times. It was the first time I’d met someone posing as Adrian’s friend. I used to believe that he was an introvert until that moment.

There’s nothing to be scared of,” Adrian urged me after he noticed how restless I suddenly became after my phone rang.I didn’t respond to him. I would rather not complicate things further. I also didn’t want to put too much pressure on Adrian, considering the fact that he has been with me since my troubles started.““This isn’t about me being scared to speak, Adrian. You know I don’t hesitate to share my problems with you. It’s just kind of different this time. No matter how I explain, you will never understand,” I said quietly. He held my hand and forced me to look into his eyes. “Hey, look at me. I am here to support your every move. OLIVIA“What the hell is this bitch doing here?” That was the first question Kate asked the moment she stepped inside the living room and met Rene. She was the last person Kate ever wanted to see.I folded my arms and sat on the sofa comfortably. “The answer you seek is staring at you in the face. I guess you should ask her. She’s in the best position to answer that question.”I wanted Kate to take over the situation like a boss. I figured that it was going to ease the stress off my shoulders. You bitch and homewrecker, what are you doing here? The last time I checked, you weren’t invited. So you better start talking now before I lose it. Don’t fucking mess with me.” Kate confronted Rene, just as I had predicted.I couldn’t have been more proud of Kate for standing up for me at the crucial time when I needed her the most.“I see that you brought your poor and wretched assistant to fight for you. What a coward that you are. You can’t even fight your battle yourself. Where’s your shame?

OLIVIAMy alarm clock beeped, jolting me awake. In a fit of rage, I slammed it off and buried myself back under the covers. It was the weekend, and I had no intention of stepping out or engaging in anything remotely strenuous. My goal for the day was simple—stay in bed, switch off my phone, and avoid any calls that might ruin my peace. It was also the first morning I would wake without Cyril next to me on the bed ever since he left the house and decided to move in with Rene.Hypothetically, last night should have been awful. But to my surprise, it was the best sleep I’d had in a long time. I slept like a baby, uninterrupted, knowing there would be no pointless midnight fights. No one to jolt me awake over baseless accusations. It was one of those nights where I would pay to witness for the rest of my life. As I slept, the thought of Cyril didn’t cross my mind. That goes to show how much I’ve moved on from him. I can’t wait for the divorce procedures to be finally over to ensure my tot

RENEI watched Cyril sleep like a baby after he had devoured the food I made for him. The only thought that came across my mind was to stab him and take pleasure while he bled to death slowly. However, the plan might seem stupid eventually because I wasn’t legally married to Cyril yet, nor had I gained access to some of his assets.I glanced at the wall clock and realized it was 9:30 PM. Sleep has suddenly become my foe. How can I retire to my bed with my two eyes closed, knowing that my mission was yet to be accomplished?I thought Cyril was gonna leave immediately after he shared the devastating news with me. But no, the son of a bitch decides to find solace in me. His presence made it difficult for me to go visit my mother. I wouldn’t want him suspecting that I was up to mischief. As I thought of an escape route, I heard a buzzing sound on my phone. I hurriedly turned down the volume of my phone to avoid waking Cyril up.I realized that it was a text from my mother. She hasn’t been

RENE"I have spent the last couple of minutes surfing the internet for my dream house. I just can't wait for Olivia to sign the divorce papers so I can take over Penhurst Company and save us from bankruptcy," I told my mom over the phone as we discussed our plans to take over Cyril's empire. It was something I had wished for all my life. And it's finally coming to pass. What a day to be alive."Don't get your hope too high, child," my mom uttered words of wisdom. She got me confused on that one. I couldn't help but ask, "What the heck are you talking about? Isn't this what we've always wanted?""There is no point in getting yourself confused. I am going to explain it to you. How are you sure that the bitch is going to sign the divorce papers? And did Cyril confirm to you that he was going to divorce her? Don't let these scallywags fool you. I know what I am talking about."My mother buttressed her point, but she still got me confused. If it wasn't her voice, I would have believed that

Cyril“Oh dear! If you are tired of your wife, Sophia, why don’t you divorce her instead and become a free man just like me? That way, you won’t have to punish yourself like this. You know I hate to see you like this,” I questioned Andrew’s guts, boosting his morale.I wanted him to own up to his shit like a real man, but he failed to understand the signal I was trying to pass across.“I can't do that. Not everyone is like you. And get your hands off me. I would rather not be infected by your spirit of stupidity," Andrew pushed me aside. I managed to maintain my stamina. Else, I would have fallen and hurt myself.“And don't you dare drag my wife into this shit? Real men don't act the way you did. You should consider getting another lawyer to process your divorce,” Andrew spoke while facing the opposite direction. If I wasn't next to him, I would have argued that he was having a telephone conversation and wasn't referring to me.I moved closer to him. “Excuse me? What did you just say?

I did receive a text from Andrew informing me to be patient and let him handle everything. At this point of time in my life, patience has become the enemy. I want everything sorted out immediately without delay. "Good day, Kelly. Is your Boss in? Of course, he is inI wish to speak to him." I asked Kelly, Lawyer Andrew's clerk at his law firm "Does my boss have an appointment with you? I already checked my schedule for today and your name wasn't on the list. Perhaps, you may need to come back some other time." Kelly interrogated me. It took her a while to respond. Her attitude towards me showed that something wasn't. "Do I need to have an appointment with your Boss before I see him? Don't you recognize me anymore? It's my Cyril, the CEO of Penhurst company. Do you remember me now? Now go inside there and tell him I wanna see him," I demanded. I couldn't stay calm anymore. She had pushed me to the wall with her irrational attitude towards me. If it was easier for her, she wo

CYRILI stood up immediately as we exchanged pleasantries. "It's so good to see you again, sir. I must confess, your staff has been good to me so far. They made me feel so comfortable."“Of course, they will. I mean, that's why they're being paid, right?” Uncle Dante teased, and we laughed at each other's jokes.I ensured that we laughed hard because I knew the next few minutes might be hell for both of us, considering what I intended to speak about.“Now, let's get straight to business. Did you say you needed to see me urgently? What's the situation about? I ought to have a busy schedule today. Because of you, I had to make plans for another day,” Dante revealed.I cleared my throat and took another shot of liquor to keep me hyped. I figured what I wanted to say might require some sort of courage and confidence to pull through.“Before you proceed, where's your wife, and why didn't she come with you? I do hope she's doing great? She didn't quite sound too well when she called. I trie

CYRILIt hurts to find out that Olivia is cheating on me with Adrian. After everything I've done for her, the bitch still had the nerve to sleep with another man while we were still married. If it wasn't for me, she wouldn't be running the company, let alone know how it feels to be a CEO.As I drove back to Rene’s apartment, I started imagining all the insane things I could do to hurt Olivia.I don’t see myself letting her go scot-free—especially Adrian. He has to pay for betraying the bro code. He knew Olivia was still married to me, yet he went ahead and had sex with her.Different thoughts plagued my head. I wasn't even certain of where I was heading anymore. Parts of me wanted to go see Rene and wrap myself in her arms for solace, while the rest of me wanted to visit my lawyer, Andrew, to finalize the divorce process between myself and Olivia. He was taking too long to get the necessary documents ready, and I wasn't pleased with it. “Where are your domestic staff? I can't find them around.” I started the conversation with a joke to lighten the mood after seeing how angry Adrian had become.“I laid them off for a reason,” he responded harshly. I could tell he wasn't comfortable with the question.“I see. Must be weird living alone in this big mansion, isn’t it? Don’t tell me, I can relate,” I cracked another joke that didn’t even sound funny to me.“Enough with your dry jokes. Is that what you came here to do? Because I don't seem to understand you anymore,” Adrian groaned.“Kate's gone now, so you better start talking and quit your silly jokes. That’s not funny. I’m done tolerating your silent treatment. I need nothing but the truth from you. And please, no more jokes,” Adrian demanded, shutting the door to prevent Kate from distracting us.“Kate is right about what she said earlier.” I made the bold step to confess.“It’s too early to get mad at me because I’m not done talking,” I added quickly, calming Adrian’s
