I was scared too; I feared for my father’s life, but being a mother, I had to pretend to be okay, to pretend nothing was wrong.

“It’s nothing, baby; Grandpa is fine,” I said, stroking her hair as she was now in my arms hugging me tightly. Ivy was strong, but she had a soft spot for the ones she cared for, just like me, so I understood why she was shaken.
