Chapter 45: Birthright

.

Alan stormed out of the room, frustration burning through him like a wildfire.

He couldn't believe what he had just witnessed.

His uncle, Archibald was becoming a pain in his neck, bringing his girlfriend—Isabella—to their family house without a word to anyone.

It felt like a betrayal, a breach of trust.

He couldn’t even think of Isabella and his uncle’s relationship as a real one.

Because it couldn’t be!

He retreated to the other living room where his mother, Jeanette, and his sister, Aileen, were seated at the table.

Aileen seemed to be in a good mood which was rare considering how cold she acted most of the time.

Their faces brightened upon seeing Alan, but their smiles faltered as they noticed his troubled expression.

"Alan, what's wrong?" Jeanette asked, concern etching lines on her forehead.

Alan sank into an armchair, running a hand through his hair in frustration. "Mom, Aileen," he began, his voi

Archibald spent the last half hour telling her about his conversation with his lawyer and his publicist. “Either that or we’ll just ignore it for now, and hope that the buzz will die down. From my past experience with Iris, I doubt they’ll leave us alone any time soon, though.” Isabella shivers. They've never spoken about any of his ex girlfriends before, but she has seen enough articles and photos of them to know how interested the public were in their relationship. “But Iris was the first person you ever dated after you left the company, and he’s… a world-famous model. I’m just a young adult.” “One young enough to be my daughter,” Archibald adds gloomily. “Don’t forget that some people feed on drama; the more scandalous, the better.” Even though Isabella knows it’s naiv

His own goal had just to humble Alan and maybe help Isabella get her revenge. But now things are going sideways and it was very obvious that he had fallen in love with her. He and Isabella never talked about the relationship being fake anymore. It seemed like she was went along with it too. And Archibald didn’t mind, he didn’t mind this life. Perhaps it was the best that they had crossed paths at that club that day and he had defended her. “Uncle Archie?.” He was pulled out from his thoughts by Aileen standing by the couch. “Aileen, do you need anything?.” He asked worried, she never approached until something was wrong.“Oh no.” She shook her head. “It’s grand father, he wants to speak to you. Hazel wasn’t even sure how they got back to her place, tiptoeing quietly through the dorm after removing their shoes, stifling giggles behind their hands as they made their way to her bedroom. Thankfully, her roommate was out, and as soon as the door was closed, Hazel found herself pressed up against it, Alan reaching for her thighs to easily lift her, wrapping Hazel’s legs around his waist as he carried her the short distance to his bed, dropping her unceremoniously amongst the crumpled sheets. Hazel licked her lips as Alan pulled his shirt over his head as he crawled onto the bed between Hazel’s legs, pulling her up to kiss her again. His hands moved to the hem of Hazel’s shirt, and he broke the kiss for Hazel to lift her arms, allowing the shirt to join Alan’s on the floor. She gasped as Alan gently bit down on the tender space between her neck and shoulder, lips following the natural contour of her body u

Isabella and Archibald have barely sat down to have breakfast when Archibald’s phone rings. “It’s my publicist,” he groans. Flashing Isabella an apologetical look, he picks up. “Jane?” Isabella can’t hear what she says, but judging by Archibald’s shocked expression, it can’t be anything good. “Fuck,” he curses a few moments later. “For real?” Isabella’s heart clenches when Archibald looks at her full of worry. “These fucking assholes… Okay, we– No, we don’t want to make a statement… Hm… okay, sure. Duh. “Because I have hundreds of hateful comments from people asking me what I’m thinking about my uncle dating a girl younger than me,” Harley explains. “By posting this, they’ll see that I already knew and that I’m okay with it. They will see that I don’t mind you and uncle dating even though we are exes”. “But… that caption makes it sound like I don’t care about the hate.”“That’s the point. You need to show them that their comments don’t get to you or they’ll never stop,” Alan says, knowing well enough that this photo will probably only increase the hate. It's not exactly a flattering angle for Isabella, and the side-by-side comparison with Alan compared to Isabella and Archibald makes it even more painfully obvious how young she is. “N-No, I– Please delete it

Ditch the Ex, Date the Billionaire . Chapter 51: . Bones aching with a dull pain, Jake sat up in his disheveled bed and just sighed. Maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to have pulled a double shift, but he needed the money, even if he hated his job– if you could even call it that. Being ordered around by people in a mail room wasn’t exactly where he saw himself as a kid. He saw himself as maybe a powerful businessman, athlete, or engineer. But nope, not Jake. He realized around his first year of college that he should just go into the workforce. But god, he despised it more than anything. A satisfying pop was heard as he stretched his arms over his head and folded his long limbs out of bed, feet touching the carpet floor of his apartment. He looked over at the alarm clock: 10:06 AM. Nearly tripping over piles of dirty clothes, Jake stumbled out of his bedroom and toward the small kitchenette he shared with his roommate, Robbie. A stocky guy with curly black hair and a ve

Trying desperately to remember how to make conversation with somebody and failing, he felt his mouth begin to speak before his brain could think, “You’re pretty. I like your dress.” She looked even better in his coat. Aileen’s perfect lips curled up into an embarrassed smile, “Really? Oh, thank you. Bad decision though. Again, thanks for the coat.” Jake nodded and they looked up at the hiding moon together. “You from here?” She asked. Her perfume was floral, he could smell it. “Yeah, no. I only school here. Most weekends, I go back to the capital.” He was slipping, words slurring. “That’s nice, I just came for sight seeing, been bored at home and realized I had a small house here. It would have been an understandable reaction, and I wouldn’t have begrudged you—“Isabella slams that ocean blue tumbler down on the table with a clatter. Isabella has a suspicion that it was bought specifically for her, because Archibald is a crazy person who thinks about that kind of stuff. It doesn’t stop her from drinking it.“Tell me what you did,” Isabella orders before she can talk herself out of it and in spite of the very large part of her that doesn’t actually want to know. “Something something something about buying out the board?” she elaborates with a pointed stare. I know.”“You don’t know anything.” It comes out way less cool and way more pathetic when Isabella’s voice cracks on what is definitely an overtired, strung-out sob. “You don’t know anything.”“I know that you’re exhausted and running on fumes and that you’d rather have the kind of sex that’s not good for you and that you don’t even want than get what you need,” Archibald tells her. “I’d say I know pl
