It was a bright day, the sun smiled down on anything visible. "Where am I?" Ken struggled in thought.
He felt himself falling deep down in his mind, it was getting hotter, darker. He kept on sweating as multiple voices clouded his mind. Trying to escape this scenario, he cried out in frustration.
"He spoke... And he blinked!" Came a familiar voice. "Yo Man, God Dammit! You had me worried, I thought we'd lost you man, welcome back bro." It was Benny, his most trusted gang member dressed in a green vintage shirt with the gang Bandana across his forehead, he had a funny accent.
"Hey nurses, my man is back!" Benny stood perplexed, wearing a mighty grin as he beckoned joyfully to the nurses, as they came running with trays containing injections, and some syrups.
"Calm down mister, can you see me?" Asked the chief nurse in charge, as they tried holding a confused Ken trying to flee their touch.
"Where am I?" He asked, frowning at all of them in sight. It felt like a nightmare he struggled to wake from. "How did I get here?"
"Yo, cool man, you just recovered from a three month old coma." Benny defended, waving three fingers at Ken's face to stress his point.
"Twelve good weeks man!" Benny, gestured a carry on to the nurses.
"You're gonna have to remain still mister Ken." The nurse demanded, getting fed up with his intensified struggles.
"What the fuck are you saying, who are you?" Ken gave a detesting look, trying to sit up.
"Here have some water," Benny offered a bottled water he had gotten from the road side only moments ago.
Ken accepted it, trying to gain his ground on where and how he had managed to get there. He took a sip of water, attempting to make sure it was what he wanted. Without a second thought after confirmation in approval, he sent the whole content down his throat. His body warmed up as he began to understand things.
"Damn!" He cried, trying to lift his left arm which was thoroughly wrapped in bandages.
Ken scanned his body, his mouth opened and unable to return to it's fixed position as he noticed his legs hanging, also fully wrapped from groin to toes.
"What happened?" He questioned, amused by his environment. "How did I get here?" He continued giving a suspicious look at the nurse who kept checking his vitals.
"Here," she gave a paper to Ben who signed gracefully and without hesitation.
"Yo, more bills are rolling man, increasing daily. Man, happy you regained consciousness. It saved the cash, our cash." He stated.
"Ugh!" He sighed, revealing his share of the golden tooth.
"Ben?" Ken finally recognized the man figure that had constantly been ramming his words through Ken's ears.
"What happened to me? How did you get here? And how did this happen!" Ken raised his voice trying to assume his role as Baron. He had a lot he needed to know, yet, very few people gave him a willing answer.
"Remember the Den?" Ben added rhetorically. "After that night, I was driving over to your place, and some set of fresh-meat (people) blocked my path waving towards me from a distance. I sure honked the hell out of my horn at them but on getting close man, it caught me real deep man, as I saw my brotherhood and a lady all covered in blood and injuries." Ben concluded offering a sympathetic look in remembrance of the incident.
"Girl?" Ken called, worried, "what girl?" Ken kept on scrunching his face at Ben, who simply pointed towards a transparent glass demarcating the two different wards.
"Is that the girl?" Ken enquired, giving a determined look at the other ward. "How did we...?" Ken ruminated, feeling worried.
Ben gave a funny look wondering if Ken's memory was gone indeed.
Ben stood up showing readiness, "I be off now man. Have to check on the business, I stood in your place since your illness man, get well soon bro!" He gave a faint smile and bowed a little, lifting his right fist and touching the left side of his chest. That was the gang way of showing loyalty.
"Thanks man." Ken bowed his head in approval.
He watched Ben walk out the room, a satisfactory look took over his expression. Ken felt honoured he still had a loyal gang member after being in a coma for so long.
His eyes kept scanning his body and then over to the transparent glass. "I've got to remember
What happened, who's that lady? Think man, think!" He kept on persuading his mind.
A man dressed in a ward coat kept pointing to his direction whilst giving details to the nurse, who was noting it down enthusiastically. He started towards Ken wearing a smile which gave a clear view of his gap teeth, a rough face accompanied by an elderly grin.
"Hi Ken." The doctor announced, searching through some contents on a stainless tray, he picked one gave a focused view at Ken.
"You were brought in here badly injured, you lost so much blood. We also recorded multiple bone fractures in your waist, legs and arms but miraculously it seems you heal fast, you also sustained some bruises in your lower limb." He paused, making sure he extracted the right amount of yellow substances into a syringe.
Tapping the tip of the injection he held, he paused to say, "You are one lucky guy, she seems fine except from the minor injury she sustained on her head." He injected the substance and rubbed Ken's skin with some iodine and wool to avoid bleeding.
"How...h-" Ken stammered, feeling the impact of the drug already.
"Don't worry." Interrupted the doctor, the baby is fine, this will help you regain yourself, he smiled making his way out the ward.
Ken's vision blurred. He felt dizzy, "baby?" He wondered aloud, forcing his eyes to look through the glass.
"Ba...by?" Ken murmured once more before getting enveloped in the darkness.
Luckily enough, they permitted a visual of a swollen stomach before blackout, which he never seemed to realize until then. The next day, reality dawned on Ken as he fully remembered, all that had happened. He kept on looking at the motionless body of Nicky, fixed with various life support machines, multiple fluids injected into her skin.At first he felt sympathetic, readjusted his pillow and took another glance, reflecting about his kind of life. It was far tougher to be with a baby if he cared to admit. He had a rough life to live. Ken led a dangerous life. From the various gang parole, to the various attacks they kept on planning just to keep up the business of dealing with rival gangs. "I have to be there to maintain the business." Ken warned himself."Goddammit I shouldn't have drank that stuff." He kept on lamenting quietly to himself, pounding his fist against the guard rails of the ho
The next morning Nicky woke up with a high fever and a throbbing headache. Every time she moved her head, the pain got worse and so she laid still, trying to recall where she was and where she had been."What’s going on?” She muttered, squinting her eyes to accommodate the blinding illumination. Everything seemed so bright."Welcome back miss." Came an elderly voice. It was the doctor standing beside the bed she was in."How did I get here Doctor?" She muttered. She keptscanning the room amidst confusion."Ouch." Nicky felt a sharp pain on her head, her body seemed to grow warmer.Nicky watched in disbelieve as she saw her bulging belly."How did this happen?!" Nicky screamed, reflexive tears rolling down her cheeks as she pulled herself from side to side."How did this?" Nicky screamed. "How... How-" She seemed unable to maintain a complete statement, stuttering i
Back at Maribel street.Commotion stirred up in Ken's apartment as noises were heard, no one dared to intervene, to avoid bloodshed. It was a regular occurrence. It had begun shortly after Ben’s arrival.Ben got to the main entrance. He was sweating all over, pacing from side to side. He thought in fear what to do or say.“Ho shit, damn it, God help me.” Ben begged and bowing to no one in particular.“Get in here at once!” Screamed Ken through a speaker hidden somewhere at the main entrance.Ken had the compound wired round with CCTV cameras and hidden speakers, he paid utmost attention to security fails.“Shit.” Ben freaked out almost losing balance. The doors opened revealing Ken in a black T-shirt as he, sat backing Ben at a corner of the room. The living room had expensive furniture all over, a center table littered with packets of c
Life in Mrs Helen's quarters was a happy one. It was distinct from the constant bickering she suffered back with her parents, who probably didn't care that she had left. Nicky had just had a bath and headed into the bedroom where Mrs Helen was waiting."Hello darling, don't you look beautiful." Mrs Helen welcomed her, raising her arms to help Nicky have a seat. She wore an elegant smile on her face.Mrs Helen had bought Nicky some outfut, one of which she wore. She was dressed in a fine blue gown and seemed completely at ease in the grandiose setting; enormous chandelier hung from the ceilings and swathes of Holly and ivy decorated the large bay windows.Nicky sat feeling shy, and kept looking at the flower arrangements or gazing at paintings planing how to start her appreciative speech until, to her relief."So how are u feeling today?" Mrs Helen spoke first."I'mfine, thank you so
The premise became visible to Nicky. Two duplexes stood firmly beside a garage. She began to take in the vicinity. From the colorful and well designed pool to the fleet of cars parked, the fountain which stood at the center, and the colorful flowers."Gosh." She stood perplexed, moved by material things. She had fallen in love again."This bastard is freaky rich!" Nicky spoke, still lost in thought. The waiting driver had sensed the need to intervene as it was seeming clear that his client was basically hypnotized. He drove closer and honked his horn, jolting Nicky back to reality.
"Ugh!" Nicky let out a scream with the capacity to make the ears bleed. The agony she felt was indefinable, a pain she bore for something against her wish. She had no idea what had to be done. She clutched on to the bathroom tap and the toilet seat to support herself, grinding her fingers into the metal tap, she pushed through gritted teeth and shut her eyes. Her veins were palpable and she stopped pushing to catch her breath. She panted heavily, coated in sweat, her eyes rolled all the way to the back of her head. With one last strength, she pushed with her might and it seemed the pain eased. The stunning cry of a baby filled the bathroom while darkness enveloped her in its warmth.*The church service was over and Mrs Helen was heading home, the church was two streets away from her residence. She kept on soloing the Amazing Grace, she had agreat voice and was once a choir leader."Bles
The den seemed to have added a new look as a large swimming pool was built in front of it. The gate was heavily guarded but Nicky was wise enough to play the bad girl part, she rolled up her sleeves, knotted her T-shirt, she wore a revealing crop Jacket, giving a view of her flattened belly. She got a cigarette and chewed gum excessively. All these attribute coupled with the right behavior granted her an access. She took on a cool spot and sat at a corner of the bar, sipping her drink. She watched the naked whores moving their body to the rhythmic flow of the music as lust-filled men drooled. Men drinking and laughing out loud, boys and girls rocking on the dance floor. Nicky hadn’t fully regained her health, she felt dizzy and covered her head with the pull over from her jacket and slept not bothered by the loud vibrations coming from the speakers. She had a dream, finding herself among Ken’s entourage in style, she had her choice
FIVE YEARS LATER Mrs. Helen smiled at the child, she was proving to be a kid determined to survive.Daniella was her name. Mrs Helen had given it to her, with the quote that she was going to be a survival through all that life had to offer. She was a happy child, proving to live above her reputation. Six years of age, tall and had a rapid growth. Always daring among her peers, wanting to know all things, beating up boys who trashed their feminine flow, she ruled amongst her female counterparts and was nick-named the fairy princess by the neighborhood for her good manners and beauty.
Dale was surprised to find out that the area was now developed, new houses constructed along the street, a large supermarket was built near a fuel station with buyers rushing in and out the building. Dale wondered if it was there the whole time or if she was in a strange street."Where are we?" Dale asked
The loud sounds had jerked Dale back to life. She turned and found her guardian angel in great pain, her left arm gripped to the bullet wound at the right side of her waist. The two watched each other and though they looked in silence they spoke words of consolation. Dale began crying, she was sorry for the pain she had put her through. "Mum," was all she could say.
On hearing her last words, Dale forced her eyes open, frequently blinking to master the itchy liquids in her eyes and forcing her lens to focus. She found Zoe utterly naked standing before her. "You are crazy," Dale stated out of anxiety, but then Zoe maintained a stern look and pointed at the far end of the
“Out the room. Now!” Zoe screamed charging towards Dale.“Boss, please you’re gonna have to take things easy.” A man tried stopping her.
"Wow! That was deep, thanks boss." Zoe appreciated and began rubbing his face. "Well I needed that too, and really I love this place." He replied, scanning the ceiling.
"Wow!" Dale marveled at her skills but of course she did these sayings within her. "Please I'm sorry." He pleaded crying and shaking like a prey in the hands of a lion.
Dale dropped each morsel of the pasta into the ready polluted water and each time she did this the water foamed and soon the bucket of water turned into a lather-bath for a baby. Finally there was somone to contend with and since Zoe and the priest had decided to be on the top of her kill chart, Dale considered this pleasure.
"What's the matter with her? So soft! A real chicken. I'm sure it was this attitude which led to becoming the holy sex slave to the priest. Rubbish!" Dale yelled in anger. Dale kept back her gun and sat on her bed still provoked by what just happened. And then she thought of Jessy and remembered an advice on a situation like this but found non
It was five minutes to five that morning. First it was a crowing rooster and then a flock of them joined the business of awareness. And then when it was five, the steel tower bell was now being rung, this object was loud enough to wake whoever lived miles away from it. Dale had always heard this from afar and never expected such as she was still cuddling on the comfy b
